    Time for the Extra stage.
    Quite an enjoyable Extra stage. The patterns are all very varied, unique and well balanced. Good music too. Though I feel like the stage portion is a lot less inspired than the stages in the main game.
    The midboss is pretty unusual in the sense that all her attacks are Last Spells and also all timeout spells.
    You don't lose anything for failing them but you do get a life or bomb reward for capturing them.
    Duo to this nature they are also a bit harder than your standard patterns.
    The boss itself also has two timeout spells so this stage has five of them, which might be a record?
    Main gimmick of this boss is that she uses a lot of attacks that induce intentional slowdown. Which is pretty rare to see in Touhou.

    EIoS is a Chinese fangame that's been in development for quite some time. It had a really rough development cycle apparently and it's a miracle it even came out in the first place.
    They changed the system and all the stages like three times or something.
    Game looks gorgeous and the stage design is also really good and interesting. Easily one of the best Touhou fangames I've played and probably the best one on Steam now.
    The stages are very dynamic because of the system, you're constantly doing something to get chains. The chains are very creative too, and every stage has totally unique ones.
    The boss patterns are pretty fun too.

    Basically there are two types of enemies, popcorn and big enemies with circles around them.
    Your unfocused shot can't hit any of the popcorn but your focused shot can.
    Enemies have three types of colors, red, green and blue.
    Killing big enemies while popcorn are in their circle will dye them into that color, kill them and then give you items of the same color.
    Exception being white popcorn, they need to be dyed twice before they die.
    Red items are for lives, green items are for bombs and blue items are for score.
    Killing enemies through dyeing increases the dye chain count, which is the Last Spell unlock condition.
    On Lunatic popcorn will shoot extremely deadly revenge bullets if you try to kill them with just your focused shot.

    In the story, midboss is giving blessing to the protagonists.
    So it's not attacks and looks like last spells.
    Midboss dialogue translation:
    Inori: Just a moment, please.
    Yukari: Are you coming with us to the outside world?
    Inori: Well, it's just that here are something Oukain-Sama wanna give you.
    [Spellcard attack]
    (Name of the spellcards are three powers of blessing.)
    [After spellcard]
    Inori: Good luck to you! *
    * Original text: 那么祝二位武运昌隆!. It's ご武運を or 武運長久 in japanese, meaning good luck in battle.

    Good thing that this extra stage offers the possibility to practice with the use of Continues.

    the boss theme reminds me quite a lot of Senri's theme from Len'en 1 (Eternal Dance Engine)

      Yes, her ability is control over stillness and unchangingness, so the slowdown is part of that.

    That boss theme turned out to be as cute as her~ Both themes were obviously remixes from ZUN's themes (Koishi's and one from LoLK which I don't remember). So much lag though lol EDIT: oh wait so it's on purpose?... I suppose it has to do with her nature.

      Yeah, I noticed every time the slowdown happens the background changes to red, so she's doing that on purpose. I checked her on the wiki and it states her ability is "Capable of controlling stillness and unchanging."

      uh, no, the themes might draw a little inspiration from some touhou songs but they're ultimately pretty distinct, certainly not straight up just "remixes"

      I think the most obvious example of inspiration is the extra's theme being very similar to TH16's Extra Stage theme, No More Going Through Doors.

      You'll get used to it in this games. Also, all you need to know is that the white, red bordered dot that is in the center of your character doesn't get hit by anything
