    Nice post processing to smoothen the video. Makes your video much more watchable than other vlogs
    One minor thing, the background music is a bit too high, difficult to hear you

    Cathay Pacific made a good reputation for themselves and a premium economy option gives them an extra edge.
    Beautifully shot video !!

      Flying on it soon how good is it?

    • @TravellingisLife
      @TravellingisLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ollie, for the service its not business class international standard (but cathay in general is decent even for economy), the seat is similar to an older business class cabin, or domestic business class in north america as a comparison, but the recline has a foot support!

    Thanks for a nice report. I flew in December SYD-HKG on the A359 in PE and it is certainly a nice product. The 15.5 hour flight HKG-BOS immediatly after on 773 was very much stepping back in time.

    • @TravellingisLife
      @TravellingisLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thanks @bluegamerxd3 for the kind words and support! I understand how you feel, it seems the 777 PE cabin was an afterthought the way it was designed (likely it was). I sat in the middle seatt of a CX 777 PE for a 3 hr flight.. Id rather have a bulkhead aisle in eco...can't imagine what it would be like to be on it for 15 plus hours like yourself..

      Premium economy is cheap. You can’t ask for much for that price.

    Nice video. Our first PE was Cathay Pacific 12 years ago . It was not really worth it. except for a wider seat, a little extra legroom which I don't need because I'm a very small person everything else is like economy, no priority check in and boarding, food like economy no designated toilet even just one. Their B777-300Er has 1 toilet but crew let economy passengers use it so there's a long line all the time.
    Service is below average during departure and average service on return. Crew could not be found only during meals.
    Not worth it. For our short flights with their B747, even economy was worth it.
    BA was our 2nd PE experience which was even worst. No more Premium Economy for us. We always go BC but it's so expensive and if the crew, the service and the food are bad I will regret. I will say, I should have taken economy and enjoy the rest of the money. Our recent experience with Turkish Airlines BC especially our return flight to the US were terrible.
    You should have been more aggressive just like most of the Bloggers. You might have Business Class meals and royal treatment from the crew.

    very nice staff, food is pretty bad even in premium economy. even sitting near the front they already ran out of selection, and plainly told me what they have left is what I get. got off the flight pretty hungry. snack tray in the back were mostly empty. I guess other passengers were hungry as well. I figure what ever, it's not like anyone ever starve to death on a flight before. I usually bring my own food and snack. cheers.

    Looks like you had that big sexy bird all to youself.I love the wings on the 350.I've always been a Boeing guy,I'm American & Boeing has been around for all my life.I think the newest version of the 777 is the best looking ,most powerful airliner.the nose looks better & has a little better symetry.but the things that matter puts the 350 in elite co. & competition makes us all better!

    From Johannesburg to Bangkok via Hong Kong I am also looking at an 18 hour trip on Cathay Pacific. The one seat less per row in a 2x4x2 configuration makes a slight but crucial difference with more space when every inch counts. I don't care that much for the amenities, food and in-flight entertainment but it does not hurt either. Where airlines cuts costs is not providing lounge access access for premium economy. Where price is concerned it is hardly worth it except for ultra-long flights where economy class equals physical torture and more so to sit in at a window in economy where toilet breaks involve disturbing two other people instead of only one in premium economy..

    May I know how are the chairs in the last line of Premium Economy? Can they be open wide as the other chairs? You know, everybody wants to sleep like on a bed.
    Thanks.

    • @TravellingisLife
      @TravellingisLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Don, thanks for your question. The seats cannot recline to a lie flat bed, so the picture on the video is the most that i can go. That being said its more recline than a smaller business/first class plane on domestic flights. I tend to have lower back issues so actually having the seat in the recline position puts more pressure on the buns, which isn't ideal for 16 hours...

    Cathay A350-1000 does have dedicated washroom for PE....it is on the front left side.

    • @TravellingisLife
      @TravellingisLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi @pete, thanks for watching, it is indeed on the front left in a -1000. I've gotten mixed instructions from different cabin crew, maybe it depends on how full the flight is in business class / enforcement. Ive been told to use the economy bathrooms on several occasions despite the fact that the bathroom is next to PE and covered by a curtain. That being said eco passengers uses j-class, pe also use j-class. At least their enforcement is not like US based airlines.. they announce on the pa that passengers need to use bathrooms in their dedicated class of service.. and offcourse people don't listen.. ya gotta go, ya gotta !

    • @FTS2024
      @FTS2024 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TravellingisLife On the Cathay Pacific seat selection it shows as the washroom for PE. It's actually close to the PE section than J class. When I have flown PE on A350-1000 no one has stopped me and others use it.

    Are the seats noticeably wider than economy class? Or are they just spaced apart more but are roughly the same size?

    • @TravellingisLife
      @TravellingisLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching and the comment @ViIE. The best way to describe would be: newer economy seats are smaller, older are larger. if you have ever travelled in a Boeing 777 with a 3-3-3 seating in economy, it would be similar to this size.. (vs 3-4-3 in todays world). It does really feel like an older business class seat in the early 2000's

    It depends on what SQ charges. I did the SIN to LAX nonstop several times(it was about 16 hours). Once I paid $1500 and another time I paid $1800 USD. I could have done the SQ flight from SIN to NRT to LAX for about $1000 in Economy. I have flown Cathay Pacific and they are very expensive for Premium Economy. Much higher than SQ. EVA is the best bargain for crossing the Pacific.

      Additionally the meals I got in SQ Premium Economy was nothing to brag about it. It looked like standard economy meals to me. Also, on a 16 hour flight I was served two meals, some juice and water, and I was directed to a tray with chips, cookies and some apples. I was hungry when I landed at LAX. For comparison EVA Air on a 13 hour flight from TPE to LAX in standard economy served two larger than SQ economy meals, hot pizza type pastry in between meals, the option of hot noodles in a cup, chips, crackers, fruits and a large variety of drinks. The Eva Air ticket was bout 50% less than SQ.

      SQ is running around $1,100 Newark to Bangkok return in PE. About $2,650 in Business.

    Thanks for sharing. The seats in PE look quite comfortable, but I must say that the food looked awful, a bit of a let down for CX. By the way if you want to eat an ice cream that is frozen, just scrape it with the side of the spoon to begin with. As you proceed, the rest of it should have thawed out OK.

      Thanks for the support Paul, I personally prefer an empty premium economy to a full business class, and a 2x price doesnt justify an increase in food quality... though for cx the food is more similar to regular economy...

    Which airline has the best premium economy? Cathay? Singapore? China Airlines? etc?

    • @TravellingisLife
      @TravellingisLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks @william for the comments, I think Emirates may have one of the best products debuting in 2020 (late to market, but the hard product looks very competitive). Luftansa / Delta from what I could see has the market for European / North American routes respectively. The Asia based airlines seem to be subjective though.. Time will tell, as I haven't tried China Airlines or Eva, and I've seen Singapore's product.. Interested in hearing others' thoughts as well, until I actually try the products

      I would say air New Zealand has a great premium economy product. I flew three legs round trip from here to London via Hong Kong with CP. The fourth leg from Hong Kong to Auckland was operated by air New Zealand znd far surpassed Cathay Pacific. To the point that I could never fly CP again

    What I do not like with Premium Economy is that the seats recline the same way as in Economy. So if you have that neighbour in front, that we all love to hate, that reclines the seat all the way for pretty much the entire flight, you still have very limited room, just as in Economy
