He doesn’t ever say that he was the heart and soul of the band, so much so that the last album turned in to fantasy was played by the Blue Ridge Runners portrayed on the album by 4 silhouettes atop a hillside. All four were actually John Fogerty and he was the only credited player on the album. Fantasy had pushed him too far.
I was 14 and asked my Mom if I could go see Creedence Clearwater Revival. She said she wasn’t comfortable with me looking into other faiths… so I said, “It’s a rock & roll band!” She said, “Oh, yeah, you can go!” lol
Mr. Fogerty thank you. I'm a '65 baby and I literally grew up on your music thanks to 2 much older brothers. I still sing your songs today. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I grew up on your music. Dad always had it on the radio, so I called it "Garage Music" and while Dad built his dune buggy and I played with my box of pipe fittings I would sing along "Down on the corner, howdy in the street!" Much love, John❤
This is like visiting with a friend you grew up with--great memories, good times and a comfortable conversation on the porch. John is the quintessential storyteller.
Wow! That's so cool. I never heard the details of how the name came about. Fogerty is one of the great rock'n'roll originals. An amazing cat and a really cool guy! So many great songs!
2 weeks ago, i went together with an old school camarad from Bavaria, Germany to El Cerrito, to Ramona Ave.226, Johns House where he grew Up. WE are Fans since more than 50 years and Johns music IS a big part of our Life. John, May you stay forever young....Greetings from Sepp and Barny!!!
As a 60s child I listed to CCR all the time and I always assumed they were from some where down in Louisiana, then many years later I discovered they were from the Bay Area. Still don't know the connection but CCR is among my all times favorites and I listen to them weekly. Never get tired of Born on the Bayou.
Thanks John, you gave me a soundtrack as a young man in the highlands of Scotland. CCR made me learn the guitar and brought me a lot of pleasure, and still does.
Thank you for sharing this. I am from the Netherlands. Born in 1953. CCR was my second crush. After Simon and Carfunkel. The name of your band struck to me. In The Netherlands then and now environment is precious. We are a small country and can't wither away the small portion of it that's still natural. Yes I undestood the Revival part. And the Green River song resounded too. So glad you took this a bit enigmatic name. It makes you wonder , who are these guys. And the rock/folk style appealed to me. So in 1970 I officially became a Creedence Clearwater Revival fan. My dad bought the LP's in Germany for me. They were much cheaper there. And even my old folks liked it Isn't that amazing. Once again thank you. Fare thee well
Hey Brother, I want to say thank you for all your Magnificent work, I was Born in 66, so ever since I remember, You and your Music have been a Positive influence in my life as you have so many others I've always wondered where your Band name came from, God Bless you Abundantly Sir
Thanks John for all the great years of great music. Got myself and friends through Intermediate School and High School in the '60's and early '70's. Always turning the radio up on all of Creedance Clearwater Revival songs and singing along. Still do to this day.👍👍 Thanks again.
I graduated in 2000. I lived in stockton California. Has a gutar, and I worked in lodi. Finish carpenter. Lodi was the first song I ever learned. That music touched multiple generations. Thanks dude
My first childhood job was in a supermarket. They did not want to pay the radio fees so they bought a prepaid tape of one hour and played that all night long. One of the songs on that tape was bad moon rising. I must have heard that song a million times. ❤❤ Thanks for the stories. Priceless. ❤❤
my favorite music to learn is anything of yours, john denver and the beatles. i probably wouldn't even play guitar without your music! bad moon rising and lookin out my back door are awesome!
I remember vividly about 1969, we were 16, my friend and I driving in a 1959 ford, cruising down the highway listening to your music blasting on an 8-track player. And that particular cruise we were going to the next town, to look at, the new rage of the Honda 90 dirt bike. We were in central Missouri.
I love listening to John tell stories. Almost wish I could spend afternoons out on the back porch with him. Sipping cold drinks listening to stories, maybe playing a few songs. Unlike a lot of celebrity that you sort of watch from afar, John Fogherty seems like someone you just want to be friends with.
John Fogerty, I grew up in the 60s and from the 1st time I heard your sound and the name "Credence Clearwater Revival" I was hooked! You have always been the heart of CCR and and I followed your many struggles with the betrayal of your band, the ridiculous lawsuit denying you the right to your own sound! But from that 1st time I knew I was listening to "Greatness!" You are still the Greatest and still one of the Greatest Geniuses of music ever. Long Live John Fogerty and the CCR sound.
I was born in '62 and have been a fan since I was 6 years old. Growing up south of the Bay Area, I had two older brothers who would get the albums and they always ended up with me. When Pendulum came out, I was a little scared of that album cover when they put it in one of those wire record racks that stood 4 albums high with Pendulum at the top kind of staring down at me when it was bedtime. Born to Move was my favorite track when I was 9. So glad TH-cam recommended your channel. Thanks for sharing with us. ❤
Saw you at Thunder Valley a couple years ago. Show was so good and son's band Hearty Har was excellent too. Really enjoyed your book. Will never stop listening to your music. Soundtrack of my life. Bless you and your family. 🎸✌️
I was born December 67. Your songs were my first favorites. I'd sing along to all your jams when I was like 5. Still love your music. Timeless classics, just like yourself. Thanks for the good tunes John. Have a blessed day. ❤🎉❤
I 68 now and remember we'll my first CCR album I wore it out kept it for many years but it got lost in my years of youth ever time I hear CCR I get the same feeling alway cheers me up thanks John for the many many years of music god bless
I owned every LP ever recorded by CCR..easy listening folk rock one song following another..got my 4 kids to listen and singing ..my youngest son to this day loves your songs ❤❤❤ I'm 80 and want to say "thanks for the memories,John .. God bless you !
Your music soothed our jangled nerves in the Vietnam War. We would come in from our run through the jungle, and gather in small groups in the evening and listen to your great songs. You brought us real joy in the midst of a crazy war. Thank you John.
Hello John my father listened to CCR unfortunately he died now I listen and my daughter listens and my grandchildren will listen thank you hello from Ukraine 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
John just loves to tell stories, and he's great at it, whether it's with his music, or spoken like this. Thanks John, for the untold amount of joy and happiness you have given us.
Great memory he has! One of the greatest lyricists! But he is also an underrated melodist and guitarist. Mine and my husband's favorite band! Never get tired of listening to them. Only had one record that critics slammed. Listen to it today, and you'll see it's better than most anything today!
Hey Johnny....glad you got to share that story before somebody else turned it into something it wasn't.....ZANS a BAR !!! OUTSTANDING JOHN !!! Florida got pummeled and Spring Training might take on a different course on the GREEN RIVER.....and Rollin' on the RIVER !!! Gator Country
I met you guys because of my father and since then every time we get together we listen to Creedence. Thank you for making music that connects me to my dad
Yes, it’s the right name for the fantastic group it represented. Inspirational songs, great riffs and an ancient, yet starkly unique sound. You guys put together so many albums in one of the shortest period of time! What a great time to be young! I can only call it blessed. Thank you, John for some of the best music of those days.
Thank you Mr. Fogerty. My Dad introduced me to your music. He isn't with us any more but CCR is still here. My children now listen you and the band. Thanks again for great music and great memories.
Thank you John for countless hours and years of absolute joy from listening to your music! Your songs take me back to my youth and stir many great memories. I especially love the songs that have mention of a river or swamp. As a guitar player for 50 years I love the fact that your guitar is always front and center in your songs. Thanks again for all the memories 🎸
Still one of the greatest bands of all time. ❤
Saludos desde Panamá 🇵🇦❤fans de tu trabajo
They were recently recognized as the most played band on streaming as the younger generation become fans.

@@Wally97523 I'm pretty sure the last record by C.C.R. was Mardi Gras. John did a solo album called the Blue Ridge Rangers.
Credence Clearwater Revival: still sounds great to me too!
Too bad this was filmed in the vertical.
I could sit for hours and listen to John tell these stories.
This dude is absolutely cool.
Agreed.
An absolute legend
Timeless band. Never will get old.
So many great songs. It's a shame all the trouble u went through. Your songs will last forever.
The greatest American rock and roll band hands down!
AMEN!
I was 14 and asked my Mom if I could go see Creedence Clearwater Revival. She said she wasn’t comfortable with me looking into other faiths… so I said, “It’s a rock & roll band!” She said, “Oh, yeah, you can go!” lol
Boutta invent a Time Machine so I can see them live (also that’s pretty cool you were 14, cause I am and I just love CCR)
@mylesstopmotionsandcats2482 You wouldn't have to go back too far, John was touring at most since June of this year.
When I first heard of the band, I too thought it was a Gospel band.......
🤣🤣🤣
As good a story as John's! ✌️😎
incredible story.. so good to hear John talking and with such a lucid mind
Grateful and blessed that John has set up this channel to pass on his memories and experiences himself...cheers, John.
Mr. Fogerty thank you. I'm a '65 baby and I literally grew up on your music thanks to 2 much older brothers. I still sing your songs today. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Fogerty. Not Fogarty. Fogerty.
@@ronfowlermusic pss, there was no need to point that Mr. Obvious.
I forgot his first since you referred to him as Mr.
Use your imagination & go back in time when everyone called everyone by their first names.
But yes, damn time changes everything, even our looks & voice.
CCR will forever be the indomitable pinnacle of classic rock
Absolutely
Great story John. Thanks for all the great music.
I love these stories
I grew up on your music. Dad always had it on the radio, so I called it "Garage Music" and while Dad built his dune buggy and I played with my box of pipe fittings I would sing along "Down on the corner, howdy in the street!" Much love, John❤
Thanks for sharing.... in this day and age, it's good to hear from the source.
Danke sehr, nun weiß ich endlich nach 5 Jahrzehnten, warum die Band ihren Namen hat.❣😎 Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland. 😘
John Fogerty is not just a great musician/singer but a great story teller.
You just can't dislike this guy!
Sensational !!!
"Who'll Stop The Rain" just brought me here. Thanks John.
Great story John, Thanks for blessing our ears.
Thank you John, for all of the great music and the memories therein!
They weren't that great.
I could listen to your stories all day. I just love them.

Yeah, I thought the same thing back then. It probably came from 'Born on the Bayou' and 'Proud Mary'.
We all did
I always assumed they were southern too. They have a southern sound to the music imo.
Part of the upheaval in the band was not all of them wanted to play southern blues rock like Fogerty.
@@leinonibishop9480 Then they found out that they suck without him and his southern blues!
All of John's stories are priceless. He's a national treasure.
John Fogerty thank you for your music you legend....

Thanks for being you John Fogerty.....
So amazing to have these stories from the man himself, filling in the background to a lifetime of loving these songs.
Love these stories John. Can't get enough of them. How about where "Ramble Tamble" came from. Been a fan all my life.
I think that means 'a big mess'. Topsy-turvy, hodge-podge, mish-mash ...
Play your music often John, it’s wonderful, brings me a lot of joy.
The best rock singer ever. Have always been in awe of his voice AND songwriting abilities.
Loving these little tales of how things happened straight from the horse’s mouth (good band name that) from the master John. Keep them coming!
