Wow! Absolutely wow! I have been browsing around this week for new TH-cam channels to subscribe to and The Bakery Bears has completely exceeded my expectations! Kay and Dan, you are utterly adorable! Your lemon raspberry torte is awe-inspiring. You've gained a subscriber for life! I'll check out your Patreon in the future, but I'm just going to enjoy this program for now. Thank you for putting such a lovely program together!

Bandana Cowls are right up there with socks for 'the best knitted thing' for me. They fit easily in your bag and can be worn under a winter coat or over any shirt on a summer evening (and everywhere inbetween) for added warmth or style!

Yes Kay Totem is still made in Australia and we do call a sleeveless jumper a Vest. I remember those old patterns when I first started knitting as a teen, they’re pretty Old. 😂😂

My most worn knitted "thing" is my Batkus Scarf. It is a striped, large, all-garter stitch, bandana-shaped scarf. I knitted it out of alternating stripes with HiKoo Pediboo (a medium grey) and Patons Kroy (Ragg Stripe) sock yarns on US 3 circulars. It is so lightweight but deceptively warm. I wear it over my shoulders practically every day. When I was in the office, it kept me warm from the overhead heaters/air conditioners blowing on me. At home, in the recliner knitting at night, it's the perfect thing to shelter from drafts. I love it so much and think it's the perfect fabric that I'll be making a cardigan from the same materials--Elizabeth Zimmerman's Bog Jacket. More colorful: aqua, teal, pale coral and peach.
Great podcast! Thank you. Stay safe.

I think the best talks happen over doing dishes together. I’m anxious to try the Umbrella Socks. I have only done 1 toe up sock, and didn’t like the bind off (wasn’t stretchy enough even though it was a stretchy bind off), and I have had the same problem with an afterthought heel because of my high insteps. I will give this one a go. Looks like it will be great for self striping yarn!

I think there a some really good things that can come out of this time where we’re staying in with our families. Family relationships can grow. Kids may be forced to stretch and build their creative muscles. Kids can learn to be responsible for their time in a way they might not have been before. Kids may have more time to learn things they weren’t being taught in school such as sewing, cooking, nature appreciation, etc.. Maybe some kids are getting more exercise than they had while in school. These skills will be helpful for them later in life as students and adults.

I have been loving the extended season of Pudding Club. As I was watching this episode of how to make the Lemon Griestorte and seeing Kay take that first bite and talk of how Dan is chopping at the bit to try it I thought how nice it would be to also see Dan’s reaction of trying these delicious cakes as well.

We feel so blessed to have 3 acres with woods on one side that we can utilize for our mental stimulation during this time. My daughter is 18 and graduating this year and she's doing excellent in school work online. I didn't have to hover her being she's an adult technically now. She just does it. My son is autistic so he's a whole different story. He's 15. But I am very fortunate that we get to get outside everyday and garden, play with the goats, turkeys and chickens and just move around. Just yesterday my daughter was hiking in the woods beside us while I was in the garden and my son playing with sticks and sand by the creak on our property. I really love spring and summer and if this did have to happen it couldn't have happened at a more beautiful time of year to be outside.

Thiscomes a little late, but I just heard your audio podcast about TV programs and I want to recommend two shows. Because I grew up in the Florida Keys I started watching Bloodline. Excellent. Also, even though I am a pretty traditional woman in my 60’s the best TV show I’ve ever watched is Sons of Anarchy. I know you probably think it is about violent motorcycle gangs, and it is, but the character development throughout the series is very good. You actually come to like and sympathize with some of these horrendous characters!

I just love your podcasts!! I've just finished my Crunkled Socks whilst watching this podcast, they were a complete joy to knit, your patterns are brilliant, your attention to detail is amazing, so well explained, I'm a dpn sock knitter but you have converted me to magic loop. I'm looking forward to having a go at your Umbrella Sock pattern, my first attempt at toe up 😘

I'm anxious to try your socks, especially the stretchy bind off. I like the way it looks and love how stretchy it appears. I have thick ankles and this looks like it would be perfect for my foot in that regard. I'm also anxious to try your afterthought heel as well.

Watching you make the filling for the cake reminded me of an ice cream my mother used to make. She made her own lemon curd and one of the jars was always mixed with whipped cream and frozen for a lemon ripple ice cream. We used to fight for the pleasure of licking the bowl!

In Canada sweaters without sleeves (like you are knitting Dan) are called vests. Tank tops are t-shirts without sleeves

Ha, ha! Spam?! When I was teaching English in South Korea they used to have big gift packages of Spam on the holidays. We foreign teachers had to advise them not to give us Spam as a gift because in the US it was a reminder of poverty. Such a different cultural memory! For the Koreans it was a memory of gifts from the American soldiers during war and post war time when they had little food and no meat. So for them it was a memory of generosity.

When using dpns: I found a hint somewhere that said than when your first stitch is a purl if you hold your needle above/behind the last needle, instead of in front of as normal with a knit stitch, you will have an easier time keeping your tension.
I do not get loose stitches when I remember to do this instead.
Also, as I think Kay said in a few episodes back, the second stitch is the key. Keep up the great work. I love your channel!

And what as with the 'never eat shredded wheat'??

Love your podcast. Thank you for your quaintness, polite & knowledgeable show. I have purchased several of your patterns & love them all. I would like to ask if you can offer a pattern for the 1st project bag you made, it now houses Dan’s toe up socks. I love to make my own bags & for gifts. I also make bags for The Shoe Box project my Sunday School sponsors at Christmas time. I know you are busy so I understand you may not be able to do this. Take care & Be safe. Keep up the good work.

In America a mojito is champagne and orange juice and usually served at a brunch. I don’t know what it would be in Paris!......completely wrong! That’s a mimosa! I’ve knit more shawls than anything else...lots of lace, then socks, cowls, sweaters, hats, mittens and one lone pair of gloves.

He Dan, re carrying the threads for your jumper, keep one colour above and one below - this will help in the yarns not twisting. Also, I keep my 2 colours in separate bowls.

Hi Meshal! This is a long story that can only be appreciated by watching my latest garment series which you can access here www.patreon.com/posts/25642771 specifically the episode titled yarn dominance. In a nutshell, I used to keep one above and one below, but now I alternate the position of the yarn on every stitch which helps me avoid any yarn dominance. D

I have a lot of cardigans. The most useful too (cold here in Sweden...😂). In cold summer evenings I can easily wear a cardigan over a dress but still be barefoot. So for me cardigan it is.

I have to laugh when you call Dan’s “vest” a tank top... in the states, a tank top is a cotton knit tank that you would wear in the summer...we would call any sleeveless sweater a “vest”. So many different words for things that are so different...especially in baking and with words for food.
