Thank you for bringing up that Dimash is not using auto tune ( I HATE auto tune! ). Dimash is the best singer on the planet! He has the best voice and delivery on the planet. He is bringing back quality and dedication to singing and music instead of faking it through and not even trying to sing. Thank you! Dimash is the real deal!

You're absolutely correct about Dimash not using autotune. He has 26 yrs of classical training under his belt, he doesn't need it. 😂
His first voice teacher said he had perfect pitch and he's not built like most people anyways. People really do just wanna hate because they are jealous, bitter, or just bored.

Dimash has now released a series of three Kazakhstan-themed songs, and this one is the first one. The second one is a music video that Dimash co-directed titled Qairan Elim, and it is stunning. The third one, Qaraǵym-aı, came out only a couple of days ago, Dimash and a piano alone on stage with a heartwrenching homage to his teacher and grandfatherly mentor who died from Covid-19.

This was filmed in Dimash's home studio in Kazakhstan. The stringed instrument is a Kobyz (Ko-bees), the flute is a sybyzgy, both are traditional Kazakh instruments. The song is a Kazakh song about a young man who is taken from his family and forced to register with Russia as military or to work in the labor camps. He is walking from his hometown of Samal to Omsk (1500km) through the Great Steppes and lamenting about the leaving his homeland for a strange land, losing his homeland, and never seeing his aging parents again.
So very glad you saw and commented on auto tune. He just plain and simple doesn't need it, and it is very obvious in this video. "Bro's not using auto tune...sorry!" ❤️
He does take you somewhere else when he sings. I have wondered if he is a synesthete, with Chromesthesia, and seeing music in colors. It is by no means a bad thing, and many musicians have it, but it may help to explain how it seems effortless for him to take you into the song with him. When you watch his eyes they seem to be looking at something we don't see. Again, it is nothing negative, and in some ways very much a gift for a musician. Stay safe and healthy! Blessings to you!

    • @vladzo123
      @vladzo123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

So, was this guy drafted to the Army? If so, he must be Russian citizen. In that case Omsk is not really a foreign land to him.

@@vladzo123 It was during the revolt in Russia in 1916. The Kazakh land had been annexed in 1867 by Russia, and in 1916 it was ordered that all males that were non-Russian in origin must register to work at a Russian military facility in some capacity. Yes, to him Russia was a still a foreign and strange land, not his homeland of Kazakhstan, which he had never been away from regardless of the ruling power.

Not weird at all, re your subtitles not on bit. I've been a fan of Rammstein for 20 years, and apart from one or two songs, I've actively avoided subtitles or lyric translations.
Dimash is such a talent that you don't need to know the language he sings in, because you feel the emotion through his performance.

At that " controversial" point, Dimash portrays the echoing Samal mountain.
Did you hear wind, birds, wolves, dogs, river, echoing mountain, the caravan of conscripted soldiers on their way to the war front in world war 1, the rain? The lyriics are an original anonymous text of one of these young men who were forced to go fight and had to say goodbye to their homeland and family.

Mountain, wind, wolves, water streaming from a creek...
Regarding the autotunes, Ken Tamplin mentioned Dimash does not need one but he (or more so the producer) uses it for effect in his music videos Screaming just because it’s an MV. I think he implies that Dimash never used autotunes in any live performances. The most he ever did in live is only the reverb.

Thanks again for another wonderful reaction. I too, don’t like to see the sub titles while I am watching Dimash sing a song for the first time. I will put them on after I listen to the song at least a couple times, then I don’t find it so distracting, and then I can react to the actual lyrics. Dimash sings, not only with his magnificent voice, but also with his entire mind, body and soul. He becomes the MUSIC. And for those who have any doubts about if he can possibly sing as great as he does, need to go to see him live in concert. And see with their own eyes, that he is a gift to the world of music.🎼🎶🎤❤️🇺🇸

🌷🌷👏👏👏👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️ I held off tapping the like button, and waited for your “controversial comment”... Ha! Loved it! I never doubted for a minute that he doesn’t use auto-tune, but hey, it’s great having experts prove it! 👏👏👏👏 In the early days, when the very first American Dear (Alisa Kellogg) went to Kazakhstan to meet and hear Dimash at the Bastau concert (2017), he kindly met her backstage in between rehearsals and sat on the floor to chat with her. Then he offered to sing for her and launched off... She had to stop him as she was breaking down and crying... It wasn’t about proving no auto-tune, or no lip-syncing... it was simply trying to give back to a fan who flew thousands of miles to hear him sing.

I'm so glad that you dissed the auto-tune hype! There are live videos out there of Dimash singing where his sound in his ear pieces has gone off yet he's still on key. He is signalling to his team that he has no sound but keeps going & hits those notes perfectly. I don't know if that has any bearing on the auto-tune debate, but it impressed the hell out of me! Since childhood teachers have said he has perfect pitch but some don't believe there is such a thing. I think Dimash proves there is. He has another song he recorded for the Tokyo Jazz Festival, recorded live in a studio and its a cover of a Japanese song called Ikanaide, originally recorded by Koji Tamaki, which is a stunning song. I loved it so much I learned the Japanese lyrics (I don't speak any other language btw). Loved your reaction to this one. I must say I love all of Dimash's Kazakh folk songs 🎵 😊

It always weirds me a bit-Dimash is sitting there in a meditative pose, with his eyes closed, the camera pans down and then back up-and there he is with his eyes open. Notice he never looks at the camera-the young man he represents (and becomes in a sense) is somewhere inside himself remembering his homeland and previous life.
The rain stick at the end-running water-but in the context of this song, I always think of falling tears.

Lesser singers often use Autotune to improve on their (live & sometimes studio) performances. The only thing they occasionally use with Dimash is a little sustain on the odd high note. The reason is it's impossible to improve on Perfection. 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍

At some point I like to watch English subtitles once just to know what's being said but most of the time I just like seeing if I can feel something without the lyrics. My observation on Dimash is that he takes many songs and makes them into operatic pieces, with drama and often singing the many voice parts that make up the characters and singing them himself. They come out as mini operatic masterpieces. Not so much this one but you are drawn into the story without words.

Love your reaction, so legitimate and unmatched. It's true, Dimash manages to disconnect us for a short time from the world we live in today. It gives us those minutes of peace that we need and that is what makes it unique and unrepeatable. His great talent and enormous humanity manage to take us to unexpected places that make our hearts vibrate.

This is a old national Kazakh song, about 1916 year, when Russian tsar Nicolay II, contrary the agreements, issued a decree- to get all the Kazakh men between 18 and 45 years, to the WWW I. He send them faraway from their home, on foot, a lot of them died. Who tried to revolt was killed by Russian army. It is a song, about a 18 years old boy, sent away from his home, from his elderly parents and he didn’t knew if he will see them ever again and his home… sad story

Before reacting to Samaltau, you must know the history of the song:
In 1730, the Kazakh khan of the Younger Zhuz turned to the Russian Empress Anna Ioannovna with a request to extend Russian citizenship to the Kazakhs of the Younger Zhuz. In 1743, the Middle Zhuz voluntarily became part of Russia. In 1865, the Senior Zhuz became part of Russia. Under the agreement, the khans pledged to protect Russian borders, promote Russian military, political and commercial interests on their territory, and pay yasak with "animal skins." In return, the Russian authorities guaranteed the Kazakhs protection from the devastating raids of the Dzungars and Bashkirs.
Kazakhstan was part of the Russian Iperia until the end of the existence of the Russian Empire - 1917 (after Kazakhstan was part of the Soviet Union). In June 1916, an imperial decree was issued mobilizing up to 400,000 "foreigners" - men from 19 to 43 years old from the Astrakhan region, Siberia and Central Asia - to work in the rear during the First World War. Popular uprisings swept through several regions of Kazakhstan.
The story that has been sung in "Samaltau" for a little over 100 years. This is the bitter song of a Kazakh horseman who does not understand why he leaves his native lands.
Samal tau, my native land, an immense sea.
What days are waiting for me in soldiers.
    I remember again and again
The native land where I was born and raised.
    I'm not riding, walking
    Even slower than walking
For fifteen days of the hike
    We are approaching Omsk.
My age is two cow year cycles.
By the will of fate, I went to a distant land.
    Samal tau, homelands left behind
We are like a school of horses, detached from their native lands.
    My mother and father
They are old people of advanced age ...
This song was composed by the misfortunes of the 16th year
Samal tau, my native land, an immense sea.
What days are waiting for me in soldiers

Autotune is pretty obvious and synthetic sounding. Only a fool would think any of this performance sounds like autotune. They're just not used to hearing true talent.

Agggghhh yes! I love hearing Dimash sing in Kazakh. I always run to find a translation of the lyrics before I listen to it because knowing the meaning of the song always helps me get in to it. Just like listening to The Hu (different language I know) songs.

Heh... so your audience would find it controversial to say that Dimash _doesn't_ use autotune? You have a strange audience, bro. XD
Autotune couldn't even begin to keep up with Dimash live.
That said, there are a few cases where it's theorized that he's not truly performing live... or rather, he was in the venue but then for the broadcast it was dubbed over with a studio version. Specifically the performances at the Kremlin, apparently that's pretty much standard procedure there, to make it seem perfect, like nothing can possibly go wrong at that "magical venue"... but you can watch the same songs legit live in other venues, so it's not a big deal.

Eh only the ignorant say its autotune. No matter how many videos show Dimash singing acapella without a mic, they won't believe what they see/hear and would rather ignore the simple fact that he worked hard daily since age 5, honing his craft to get to this stage. So why give those haters and sadass people a mention at all. Who cares about their opinions? Let them bask in their ignorance and let us enjoy MORE DIMASH!🤗

Subtitles only make sense with Dimash's songs if you read them separately. I've never read much of it while Dimash sings. I always lose myself in his person, his gestures and in the music, in the voice. And then I realize, oops, you haven't read at all.
He once said that he wanted to kidnap people with his music and make them happier than they were before. And he succeeds every time anew.

I believe Dimash is in his home studio. He did not travel to Japan due to the COVID 19 crisis. The beautiful instruments on the wall. He loves playing the dromba and he showcases them beautifully.
This is our Kazakh prince sharing his wonderful culture.

Loved your reaction! You are SO right! Dimash doesn’t NEED autotune...his genetic advantage; talent; and his many years of education/training/practice more than make up for it. He is the REA DEAL.” ❤️

Anybody who has been in Dimash's concert knows how capable he is. The resonance he produced filling up the entire hall. I was in his concert in Brooklyn, NY and I mesmerized by the power of his voice. I think Dimash used autotune in "Screaming" recording and I don't like it. It didn't sound like the "original" Dimash's voice that we all love and in my opinion its live (no autotune) version so much better. This performance (Samaltau) is one of my top list. Thank you for the reaction, I enjoyed it very much.

Ken Templin says it. It is used to give the song a certain sound. It is no to correct his pitch. But the truth is that it was done by the Chinese producers, not by Dimash. In fact that version was never replicated outside China.
