I bought a fred head off of you a long time ago and built a puppet with my grandfather. took us a while since we knew nothing about how to make the mouth and things move. Since then my grandfather has passed away but i still have the puppet as a reminder of when we built it.
Sorry to hear about your grandfather. But how special that is that you have the figure you built together with him. A wonderful memory and special connection with your grandfather for sure. Thanks so much for sharing that experience!
I have had the casting of Fred for some time but with five parrots I need a workshop. I am becoming more motivated to begin working on him and the lip sneer happened just at the right time. It gives him a completely different look, I like it!
Thanks Dennis! Yes, a workshop area really helps. It doesn't even have to be all that big to do this kind of work. Keep in touch and let me know how it goes!
I purchased two of Mike's casting puppets in my effort to make them come alive for my annual Halloween themed party. In this year's theme, "The Doll Factory at Creepy Springs," I am creating these two guys, in addition to adding a mechanism that will move their heads from side-to-side as my guests file past them. Enough of that, Mike's workmanship, dedication to the art, and outstanding customer service, sets Mike and his puppets apart from the rest. Mike is a true professional and I highly recommend you purchase his puppets as you will be glad you did. I know I am.
Yeah!!! That's my new "Fred" figure everyone! I named him Woodley J. Hawkins and he is just an incredible figure !! I highly recommend Mike Brose to anyone looking to have a TOP QUALITY vent figure built!! Great job Mike!
pure genius.....your figures are some of the best!!...movement looks sooooooo smooth and light...VERY realistic!!.....excellent artistry.....your figures making is just fantastic....im really hoping that they become available again in the future....im just waiting with my money in hand.
Once again I want to express my eternal gratitude, for the guidance, it is for me a beautiful gift that I have had this year, I can only wish you success and many blessings, I know that in this effort to make a ventriloquist doll I need all the guidance , in the mechanics of the movement of eyes and mouth, once again thank you very much God bless me
I use a 15 tpi coping saw blade. I secure it in a pair of thin nosed vice grips. That gets me pretty close. Then I finish up with sandpaper and small files. I like to glue sandpaper to a paint stir stick (or similar) which turns it into a sanding paddle. This works great for cleaning up the straight cuts.
Think that the same kind of mechanization techniques and systems can be used to create an actual puppet? I'm thinking of making the Crypt Keeper and animating his head with ventriloquist mechanics.
me encanta ! entre a tu página ... pero se me hace muy complicado por que todo esta en ingles ......por favor si tienes alguna ptra página en español .. y que tenga paso por paso en fotos sería genial!!!! hermoso trabajo
Again Mike... if you decide to sell a sneer casting, let me know as I'm serious about a Fred-based character with that effect but I couldn't do this without the components on my own. I know you're busy... so let me know when (if) you have one for sale. :)
+Random Guy For the vertical cuts on the sides of the upper lip I used just a hacksaw blade by itself (took the blade out of the hacksaw frame). For the curved cut at the top of the upper lip I used a coping saw blade (a jigsaw blade would also work) held by a pair of Vice Grips.
The head in this video is made of urethane resin, but that is surely not the only material that can be used. There is also fiberglass (with polyester or epoxy resin as the binder), rigid latex or neoprene, paper mache, and of course carved basswood. There are other materials that could potentially work, but those are the most common ones used.
Cool, thanks man, what i did was molded a head out of clay, then made a silicone mold and the added a mother mold over it, but i couldn't find out what the main head was made of, but you have helped, and for that, i thank you
Interesting, BUT, way too much video tricking, fades etc. If you are serious about sharing a How To, then slow things down, kill the "Music", (it is a distraction), and explain things. Nice work by the way !

That’s amazing! It’s seamless!
I admire your work. Do you accept orders? Is it possible to install such a mechanical structure in a mascot?
For body casting parts, when will they be in stock? Because I’m willing to buy one

The money I'd save up to own such a cool little guy haha. Very Nice! Subbed!
Thanks Scott. Glad you like him!
Mike what tool do you use to cut out the vent mouth area to give you a clean cut?
I use a 15 tpi coping saw blade. I secure it in a pair of thin nosed vice grips. That gets me pretty close. Then I finish up with sandpaper and small files. I like to glue sandpaper to a paint stir stick (or similar) which turns it into a sanding paddle. This works great for cleaning up the straight cuts.
where can I buy

+indianabrick In principle it can work, but likely that the details might be some different.
Can we buy the figures? Or we just have to build it?
i think we have to build it
I need one of those

+puppetsandprops Thank you.
+Random Guy You are most welcome!
I know it like a secret but what are ventriloquist dummy heads made out of
The head in this video is made of urethane resin, but that is surely not the only material that can be used. Do you include with the figure a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) or you autographed /signature the figure?
Jediito . . , I sign each figure that I make. If you want a Certificate of Authenticity, I can do that too.
What material is Fred made of?
Urethane resin.

+BigBoomer101 Check out our website. You will find a fair amount of free figure making information. It can be fun!
Why are they a lot of money I really want one.
These are very cool puppets, but they cost too much. Anyways, nice puppets :)
Thanks! Glad you like them.
+puppetsandprops I might buy one once I master ventriloquism. But I have one question do I buy it from your site or email you?
When the time comes, just email me and I will give you any information you need on ordering.
