I got these as a sentimental gift to myself when I started drumming again. Since Neil’s passing I’ve really picked up drums after a long time away from it. I bought so many pairs of Vic Firth sticks to try and find the closest thing to a Joe Morello 11A. (Still can’t find anything close.) in my search though there was a couple things I noticed. 1. I liked the way promark sticks felt in my hand more than Vic Firth. Maybe it was the laquer finishing? 2. I started playing with the 747s and they just felt great. They were my go to stick way back in high school and funny enough they still are. I’ve read the 747 has been described as a 5A with the taper and tip of a 5B. The 747s are weighty but not too weighty.
Similar story here, down to Neil's passing nudging me back into playing. Seems a lot of people reacted that way... never tried these until a few days ago and... loving them. I _think_ it's the density. Feels smaller in the hand, easier to control and finesse.. but hits like a larger stick. Just a touch longer for a hair more leverage... I think that's the secret sauce. But so far, really happy with them, these could end up my main stick.
Just bought me a pair of these bad boys they are my favorite ! I've played Vic firth and vaters there good but I went back to my oldy but goody lol promark I used promarks back in the day when I started playing drums 1982 long time ago lol but stopped playing for over 25 yrs recently three yes ago I started playing drums again and bought there today and their awesome sticks .
I like a few brands sticks mostly 5a sticks, I always liked the Oak nylon tip 747s for years but about a year ago bought 4 pairs on Amazon of these NP 747s..Very durable and great feel to them . They're even better yet with Promark grip tape on them! I've been using Vic firth and just recently tried some Vaters which are really good sticks also, but I keep coming back to these NP 747s! I'm telling you these are only around $10 a pair so order a couple pairs and these will last you a very long time. The pair I'm using is only half eaten away and that's months of use playing these bad boys.. I like hickory sticks but the promarks eat away quickly so i use 5a Vater they last a long time but for Oak these 747s are the best sticks in my opinion.. They are the size of a 7a but longer and stronger! Great review man!

I just went back to these sticks and added the Promark grip tape…. Made them feel even better!
@@drum1972 awesome! Most sticks fly out of my hand except these sticks but I still wrap them because they feel amazing with Promark grip tape on them
