  • The 2023 Lexus NX450h+ adds a plug in electrification to an already great CUV. Starting on the outside, the Grecian Water color has an attraction like no other. I usually have a soft spot for reds but I just kept admiring the blue and so did many others. The 20” wheels didn’t look as big since the tire had a larger than usual sidewall. I did enjoy the ride of the taller sidewall as the sporty CUV segment tends to have smaller sidewalls and sacrifice ride quality. You’ll want to definitely opt for the triple beam LED headlights that come with the cornering lights. Living in a rural area, these were perfect because they illuminated wherever I was planning on turning into.
Getting into the NX450h+, the caramel colored interior was incredibly inviting. The seats were soft and comfortable and offered heating and venting. I grab the wheel and it was perfectly molded for my hands which made for a great driving experience. With the updated infotainment screen, you’re able to see your wireless Apple CarPlay on a large clear screen. It’s unfortunate that this model didn’t have a wireless charger to avoid dealing with cables.
Under the hood you have the 2.5L inline 4-cylinder plug in hybrid. The combined power will yield 304 horsepower to get the NX450h+ to 60mph in 6 seconds. With it being a plug in hybrid, this allowed for flexibility of what source of power to use. The different EV and HV modes helped me avoid the trip to the gas station by simply plugging it in when the 30 miles of battery range went down. I was also able to convert my gas to battery charge with the charge mode it had.
Overall the 2023 Lexus NX450h+ has made me consider my next vehicle to be a plug in hybrid. I don’t think I’m ready for a full electric as I still feel like I get range anxiety in an all electric vehicle. The great thing about the NX450h+ is that it gave me options when gas decides to creep to higher prices, I can plug in and charge the battery and run in EV only mode.

This is a not a CVT gearbox, it is an e-CVT which is an epicycloidal transmission and no belt of any kind. eCVT is completely different from a cvt. eCVT doesn't use belt/band. Nothing are the same.
It's a transmission that contentiously varies, the mechanics are different but the outcome is the same !

The center arm rest can be open both side. So passenger can easily help and get access to center storage.

That’s good to know. I’ll be sure to check it out next time I get another Lexus with the same design. Thanks!

You did not show where the plug in is. In the side or in the back.

It would be on the rear passenger side.

wondering if in charging mode your fuel economy is getting a hit?

Yes it will definitely take a hit. I don't know how much exactly. I can tell you that I was trying to bring the gas needle down but it was pretty economical.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? You Really messed up!...the 450h+ 'F" Sport is Sooooo much nicer. Case in point the "F" Sport model comes with " Adaptive Suspension"...VERY important as the suspension Tightens in curves and softens on highway / freeway. Has MUCH nicer LQQK'n front fascia W/ large black functional air intakes...gives the vehicle a "Prowler" LQQK / stance...The grill & aforementioned large air intakes have a very nice gloss Chris Cross pattern and any chrome is done in smoke black crome along with my car having All carbon fiber inside and outside anywhere the Piano plastic is/was..

If you're saying I messed up because I didnt get the F Sport, no worries because I didnt buy this NX. This is a press car Lexus sent me to review for a week. Regarding the F sport difference, youre totally right. For like $1500 more, what you get is a bargain for that adaptive suspension and the CF trim. If you don't really need it, the non-adaptive suspension was still super impressive for many that don't need it. Are you a NX owner?

Opp's Sorry, two fold,..... One being I assumed you purchased said vehicle and Two you do not own the 450h+ "F" Sport. I have written extensively on other forums, as to I believe the 450h+ "F" Sport (Only made in Japan) MODEL ONLY Is quite possibly the finest vehicle in this segment ever produced.... If one takes the time to analyze their investment in REAL cash, and not simply get ripped OFF with simply dumping a LEASED vehicle (NEVER REALLY OWN ANYTHING like time share owners of air) and wish to keep a vehicle with NO Headaches i.e. Check Your Engine Light NIGHTMARE i.e. Euros, Freak'n Korean, jags, volvo's,......Have the most versatile platform with OPTIONS run batt for 49 miles No Gas...or run Regular gas @ 89 miles per gallon in Hybred mode ..or....plug in at 120volt No huge expense for a home charging system i.e. Tesla,....Have a dedicated switch on the console dedicated to 100% charge while you drive.....GAIN 13-17K after driving it off the lot, and have the MOST RELIABLE vehicle in the segment...THEN BEG! the owners of SAID Press, to have you review the 450h+ "F" Sport model and convince them to sell it to you / No...put them at gun point AS the 450h+ "F" Sport is very Rare!
