I can't get enough of the retro colors. Such a shame so many people changed them out on bikes.They just give me a sense of 90's nostalgia I wasnt really there for.
The first year they actually *shortened* the travel on the forks a little bit.. I remember the ad for it with a shaved-headed Damon Bradshaw.. Early to mid '90s bikes looked the best in my opinion.

I used to look at those magazines all day and just day dream about owning those bikes. My favorite was the dirt bike buyers guide. Also the one with the guy on the front cover picking up a xr600r.

My exact old bike, bought new at 19 years old. Bought in Dec 1993. I was like Tarzan back then, or so I thought. Lol..I upgraded from a pristine 1982 Suzuki RM 125, to a 1993 Yamaha YZ 250, which was a huge jump in power and torque. Stock, out the crate, a badass bike already. I left it stock.
i would kill for land like this i want an open field too max my 450 out in so badly i’ve only been able too hit about 70ish on my street before i run outta road and it feels like it has so much more in it

Wow man that thing hooks up. My friend had a 93 and bro had an old beat up 88 or 89 cr and that cr was so much faster in a straight line the guy with the yz was pissed. My 01 Cr 250 was stock except for bars, air filtsr etc and I could do a wheelie without the clutch in 5th gear at the midrange hit then ride it out till redline. Takes a lot of power to wheelie in 5th without using the clutch

Henry's YZF 400 4 stroke Yamaha literally smoke the competition in the 250 2 stroke class Supercross as after a few laps around the track Doug Henry's bikes we're putting out Billows of Blue Smoke so much that all the other Rider's couldn't see where they were going. It was said that Doug Henry was going through an engine per race as they were literally pulling out the first engine and replace them with an entirely new unit for each Moto. When you buy a 4-stroke dirt bike today racing motocross do not expect it to last very long. if not replaced at service intervals the cam chain will eventually snap in half wrapping up around the crankshaft and punch a hole right through the bottom of the cases...rebuilding such a mess can cost as much as $5000 bucks just for the parts if you do it yourself.....i spent $3500 just in parts for a normal clean up restore engine rebuild of an old 1984 XR500R ...
I have always been a YZ Fan and THIS one reminds me of my old White and Blue one I used to have . It was older and not water cooled yet it would rip also .

@@Cody_4 i did the right side over a big double bone poped right threw the skin and bused ribs big endo 80footer my ribs were that bad i had to ly flat for 3 month eveytime i try to sit up my ribs would spasm it felt like i was having a heart attack, and going to the toilet when your gut is having spasm,s at the same time i was right handed try wiping with your left hand why all the spasm going on it,s a lesson ill never forget it happen in 94 im still getting over the injurys said ill never ride again back doing it 6 months later.never learn
@@Cody_4 that was on 94 rm 250 i owned yz 490 1983mod few years before that accident and a 92 kx 500 not long after never layed down either always managed to power out of trouble
Had a 94, it would definitely sh!t and git in all 5 gears, front tire barely stayed on the ground. I read many would take the top ends from them and bolt them on the 96 + bottom ends but would have to work the cases to accommodate the boost ports and something about what was referred as the " Long Rod " kit or something. 🤘

I had the 1996 YZ 250 and bone stock but big exhaust and bought it brand new no one could touch me and I have the 1998 YZ 125 With A Big Bore kit she was a wheely machine when I bought her in 1998 every gear now ten years ago I put a big bore kit she really rales now
All 90s mx bikes destroy all other years bikes. The looks are just the sickest of all bikes. Seats were ugly in the 80s and suck in the 2Ks and are as flor as a 2x4. 90s mx rules all, Showtime Baby!

we got a 2000 model yz 250 its had a frame up rebuild . engine rebuilt . frame powder coated new tyres new bearings all new plastics even put a title on it . so we can go on roads to different tracks

The bike that Damon Bradshaw built. Yamaha didn’t do crap to their bikes all thru the late 80’s +. Then they hit the powerband with this bike. Another classic pulled from McNasty’s dark warehouse. Best bike you could buy that year and all the bikes were good that year. To get brand new bike worked on and tuned for performance is a few thousand. -And it still may not ride great. 85-86 Yz250+ had a great engine. This engine built on that +++. Yamaha made everything better and set the new MX standard that year. Basically they competed against the dominate Honda and won = Yamaha bikes basically sold out that year. They only make so many mx bikes in Japan for that season and when they are sold that’s it = you need to wait for the next year and/or put down a deposit to make sure you get one when they come in. As radical as this bike was the new YZ85 was even more radical.

I had one of those in 1993! I was a mechanic at a Honda Yamaha dealer in Northern Utah. I loved that bike.

The Damonized YZ. It was at the time all new and a game changer then. Yamahas were all new all the way down to the yz80.
