It's a very cool ship. the super maneuverability is because your main engines/thrusters are also your maneuvering thrusters. eventually they will be able to visually spin in place.
Yep. This ship makes the racing & dogfighting ships feel slow. It’s so freaking fast and maneuverable lol. ALSO: the headlights on this ship are absolutely unmatched. No other ship’s lights can compare imo.
If you liked the ship so fare, you will really like it once it gets its update. As far as i am aware not only the engines are supposed to be rotating but instead each wing shoud move around to redirect the thrust as well. So the final ship will have organic looking moving parts all time not just during landing gear switch
Having such insane maneuverability with a pair of size 4 guns is awesome. The tradeoff being the absolutely massive frontal cross section and that you are absolutely screwed if (when) you lose a thruster in combat.
Karthu Al is such an amazing ship. One of the more unique ships ive ever experienced. If it wasn't for its too easy to blow wings it would be my absolute favorite alien ship. And why Banu defender is my favorite ship for bounty hunting. If you manage to not lose a wing and have good aim with fixed 2s4 you melt any small-medium ship in seconds 😎 do not underestimate karthu al or any ship really in the right hands. The sound profile on alien ships in SC is truly a rare experience
I don't know if you know this but... You can manually drop out of warp at any point in flight. So if you need to warp to something that is obstructed, you can "bounce" off of something far away as you did with Yela... But you do not have to warp all the way there. Initiate warp (Hold B) then after you have been in flight for just a few seconds, re-initiate warp (Hold B) and you will manually drop out of warp without having to go all the way to the bounce point. =]
The other thing to know about the Khartu is that it's the stealthiest ship with S4 weapon mounts. Before the capacitor refactor, kitted out for stealth with one of the Glacier coolers swapped in, I could hit a target with Rhinos from 1000m outside the detection range of my heat and electromagnetic signatures. They literally couldn't see me, and I had 1000m of room to play with where I could lay right into them. I doubt that will persist after the refactor... but we'll have something.

Olli43, equip it with size 4 fixed repeaters and she becomes a complete monster! It’s so nimble it doesn’t need the gimbles. Secretly one of my favorite ships in star citizen lol also if you put on some attritions, they stay at heat up for a while and do extra damage
With the balance as it is right now, size 3 are better as you get mad energy problems with size 4s. Check Avenger__Ones recent Talon video where he is constantly low energy with size 4s.
Love so much about the Kartu'al but it's biggest issue is the cross section and it does not take much to kill it. The sound effects are best in the game.
I've got myself one of those!!!! I won it from a Star Citizen You Tuber. Its a great ship, they become common around Alien week, mine comes out when they are not expected. 😉
I'm pretty sure the banu ship uses xi'an tech for their thrusters too so they should be comparable. The Banu just use the best tech they can find so their ships are often a combo of different alien technologies.

I fucking love how small that human pilot is in that cockpit... Just look at the scale of things. It actually managed to depict and convey that sense of feeling. Last time I had that was when playing ME Andromeda. Going out on that asteroid rock, every crevice and canyon looked so massive. but on the galaxy map, that asteroid rock was so small in comparison to the others around it... the crevices and canyons were barely noticeable... But on that human scale, they were deeper than the grand canyon.

Ollie, the next time your mining if in a Prospector, look at all the buttons above your Radar. You have a panel with numbers on it. 1, 2, 3...... Check those out!
If you're curious its pronounced Car-two All, Some pronounce it Car-Thule Al or some variation of the two. It's honestly my least favorite of the alien ships. Its cross section is to big and it doesn't handle like it should. The way Xi'an ships move is supposed to be completely different than any other race in Star Citizen by having full 6 Degrees of Freedom meaning that It should thrust just as fast in any direction as going forward giving it crazy maneuverability. Fighting one of these things should be like trying to nail water to the wall. However, its not and an Arrow or a Gladius can easily own one of these in a PvP fight.
Always wanted either this or the Santokyai, it was the newest concept when I started and I saw the price and was like oh :( Went with the LTI Arrow instead and although I will never replace my Arrow, this and the santokyai will always be in my heart.
It looks like a mass effect reaper. how it looks like a bug with the transformation and the sounds it makes like its alive, it really gives the living machine vibes. also it looks like a dragon fly with its wings down when its landed
The sounds of this ship are so organic and artificial at the same time. The devs did an amazing job to make it look and sound like something humans would not build.

I'm also seeing more new players teaching newer players, and its causing some of this. I admire this is a growing and kind community but a copy of a copy is a good analogy.
you can find some similarity with the MISC reliant, a MISC is a human company that have tech trade deal with x'ian and put some of they tech in they ship ( i think mostly engine tech)
i am a huge fan of the Xi'an (Turtle People) there is another few ships coming out by them soon, the San'Tok.Yai (A fighter, the same as the Khartu except heavier, more guns and also Missiles) the Railen (A biiig 3 deck Cargo Ship) and another one that hasn't really been talked about much
i started playing star citizen the free fly before the invictus event and this was one of many ships i rented and ive always thought it looks like a beetle or something similar
Like I said this game is ahead-of-its-time can you imagine if the person that made the animations for this game made a Transformers game with full transforming animations
You need to upgrade this ship with the new size 4 Behring AD4B ballistic Gatlings. it should perform very well, just be sure to land your shots, its got more ammo than most ballistic guns but it will still run out eventually.
Upgrade the power plant, then stick two size 4 weapons on it. Because of its maneuverability it'll absolutely wreck any PvE bounty up to MRT. The downside is that the ship's frontal profile is really big and against multiple enemies it's tricky to avoid fire and if you take engine damage you are screwed.
Yeah, in any engagement where it isn't chasing or has a huge tactical upper hand, it's a pretty poor fighter. VERY elegant and unique design (and a thing of beauty), but functionally it's just outclassed.
I've got an upgrade to change my super hornet into the Khartu-Al's heavier brother, the San'tok.Yai. I hope the San'tok.Yai manuvers somewhat close to the Khartu-Al but with more weapons and heavier armor/shields.
San'tok.Yai was what I most looked forward to for a while, it's so sexy... I was hoping the Xi'an letter would tie into a little surprise for alien week but I'm not used to how straightforward they've been the past few years.
from the consoles to the engines and ship transformation it sounds very much like Michael Bay's Transformers. truly the best part from those movies. that mechanically alien beastly vibe is my aesthetic.
It's a cool ship, aesthetically. But that aesthetic irl is a structural weakness. That big ball of a cockpit is an easy target and you are very visible outside. This ship would look cool and would be structurally protected if it has a cockpit design as Titans on Titanfall II and other supercars and AVs on Cyberpunk 2077.
Xi'an ship style has always been my favorite...after Drake :P Masters of anti grav and most of their ships are vertical FYI the Khartu'al really shines in space if you fly it in decoupled, and change out the S3's for fixed S4's

Its a pretty good fighter. Its downside is a huge cross section. You can switch the two size 3 gimbals for two size 4 fixed weapons.
The cross section is only huge from the front, if you angle it sideways it's not too bad

@@Cherronova Nothing to do with ability, it is just how screwed up the weapon balance is right now. You gain like 15% damage and lose 30% firing time.
The Attrition heat mechanic has been disabled since the weapon rebalance in 3.14.

I love Port Olisar. I have so many good memories of that port from when I first started playing. My first take off and crash was on one of those pads.
When I bought it, didn't know about the fly transformation, now one of my favorite.
Clearly this has to belong to that warlike alien race.

You should run a mission with Citizen Kate and the Skunks...
They run pvp ground battles as practice, but also are quite capable at all aspects of combined arms gameplay.
The Gladius about the only "human" ship that can keep up with the Khar.

The ship performance normalization really hit it hard. Having full speed strafing will be so cool.
