  • Roland today announced three new machines in the new AIRA Compact range. Its s new form factor and one that is going for entry level and portability. All the new machines back on the ACB modeling technology.
    T-8 Beat Machine
Roland drum and bass sounds from the TR-808, TR-909, and TR-606 drum machines, paired with the dynamic TB-303 Bass Line. The six-track TR-REC workflow with deep tools like step loop, pattern shift, probability, and
    others to generate dynamic performances.
    J-6 Chord Synthesizer
The J-6 Chord Synthesizer pairing a powerful chord sequencer with tones of the JUNO-60 synth. Simply call up one of 100 chords sets and build chord progressions with one-touch presses on the
built-in keyboard. Styles, variations and rhythmic patterns from chords via step
input and tweak the sound with dedicated filter and envelope controls, and add
    customizable delay and reverb effects.
    E-4 Voice Tweaker
The E-4 Voice Tweaker combines voice transformer tools and standard vocal
effects with a hands-on interface. Pitch and formant sliders are available to instantly
change the vocal gender, create robot voices, and more. Auto Pitch, automatic harmony,
and vocoder processors are included, along with reverb, delay, and other effects.
There's also a built-in 24-second looper for capturing performances on the fly, plus a
unique Scatter function for slicing and dicing the sound via a dedicated panel knob.
All three are class compliant USB-C connectivity with 2 in, 2 out audio and MIDI over USB, a build in rechargeable batter (around 4hours), MIDI and Sync input and output.
All are available shortly priced at 208Euros, £175 UK pounds.
We had a visit from David Ahlünd who gave us a demo of the new units.

I like the look of the J-6 and can see use for it in a live situation, but for use with a DAW in a home studio surely you would do better with something like Scaller at about a quarter of the price, with way more sophistication. Having said that I'm a sucker for hand held harware.

Enjoying the e-4 so far! Ideas for e-4 firmware upgrade: (1) original value indicator* (2) ability to save patches and scroll through them with the scatter dial [that way you could burn through exactly what sounds you want mega quick - this is a digital product so it should be able to do that] (3) time control for the delay (all it seems to have is a feedback control for the delay, needs a time control)

Well if these are coming out then Roland certainly isn't short of BMC chips, as a few implied that was a reason for the Juno-X using (single chip) Zen rather than full ACB..
They are cute.. but I have big boy versions of all of these.. and bit of a shame access to the synth engine parameters are locked off. But props for class compliant USB-c and ACB.

      @emilyschmanks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

the juno x has up to 256 voices of polyphony, and that's why it uses zen core. acb has limited polyphony, and it wouldn't make sense to have a workstation type synth like the juno x that can only do 8 voices. the j6 has has 4 voice polyphony, so it makes sense to use the superior acb technology :-)

@@Wagoo i said 'up to 256 voices'. at one partial per voice, you can have 256 voices. there is a polyphony of 64 to 256, which ACB can't deliver.

Nice machines, but I already have an MC-707. I prefer ACB over Zencore, but its main problem persists. It's is only four voices per processor board and engine. Roland should put two boards with eight voices inside or change the design to an updated processor with six voices at least.
Good demonstration with a professional player!
