This brings back so many great memories. I was a Jr in 1978. At the junkyard, I found a super clean Cosworth Vega with a blown motor for $600. The guy sold me a LT1 for $400, the M22 CR was $150. We put stronger junkyard parts inside the 10 bolt. He had a good clutch/pressure plate. We left the blown Cosworth motor there. I left that junkyard with everything to build this car for under $1500. It took 2 weekends to assemble. What a great little car. I miss those days. Thanks for the great video!
That is one awesome Vega, those wheels...wow! Thanks Scottie!
Your welcome Brother...Glad You liked it!!
Damn it Scottie love this Vega, sweet little ride!!! Thank you bro, absolutely love it!!! 👍✌️
Right on..Very cool for sure!!!
One of the finest Vega's out there!
Nice Vega be fun cruising it I bet!!!
A hot-rodded one owner Vega. You's so lucky to catch this, Scottie. The Vega is my all time favorite compact, that can hold a V8.
This is one CLEAN little Vega.
For sure!!
I liked those little cars!
I'm not Goofing on you? It's one of the most, Hot Rodded Cars, ever. 71-73 hatchback body style, looks just as good as the 1st and 2nd Gen Camaro's. I love them all. When built right, I must say. Many were done half assed, or butchered up. This one, is done right.
Thanks for checking it out!!
the monzas are just as cool when done right LOVE THIS CAR SCOTTIE THANKS FOR SHOOTING IT
He did a very clean job very nice piece
No problem.....glad you liked it!!
I had a Vega in High School. A 72 in 76-76. A GT. Very Cool Car.

Right on....Thanks for checking it out!!
That is one bad ass, kick ass, kick-u-n-the-nuts kinda car, love it, love it, LOVE IT!! Love how he kept the hood straight & no cowl scoop on it, kinda like a sleeper, but man that car got me drooling!!
Glad to to do it Rick!
Glad you liked it!
Glad you liked it Russ!
Thank you Brother...glad you enjoyed it!!
These Chevy Vega make some awesome and insane Pro-Street customs!
Little light car + big V8 = some serious fun right there!!! lol =D
It's awesome that it's been in the family for so long and once it's tired and beaten, instead of selling it or junking it they Hot Rodded it! That is the essence of Hot Rodding culture right there!
I'd love to see one of these built into a "Pro-Touring" Auto-Cross Racecar!
Thanks for sharing ScottieDTV!!! Keep the great videos coming, brother!!!
Glad you liked it!!
Back in 81, my girlfriend had a hatchback Vega her senior year in high school. Boy we sure made good use out of it.
lol....I'll take Your word for it!!
Very cool Brother....thanks for checking this one out here!
I dig on the Vega's. There was a guy who had a 74 back in my drag racing days that was absolutely ignorant. 454 blown with duel quads and NOS. Yes it was street driven and had wheely bars. He was running the 1/4 in the 8 second ballpark.
Ever since that car I have liked em.
The paint on this car looked great and the 355 is a good choice for an engine. To have it in the family for so long is just awesome.
Cool catch Scottie.
Damn badass car, my dad had one too, thinking of fixing it up, this is inspirational
They make cool Hot Rods.....
very cool !!! we have a blown injected 72 vega that runs around here also have a blown pinto in town i love those little cars
Vega conversions were popular back in the Day . Every Hot Rod magazine had ads selling “Conversion Kits” to put the SBC in the Vega it was not uncommon to see one . The Oil crisis and the price of gas made these cars go away. Many many of them were up graded for more power and were not streetable . It truly was an engine swap that made a lot of sense it was a good fit.loved them then and I love them now
Right on...Thanks for checking this one out here!!!
I had a red vega...i was wondering what happen to those chevy cars...nice black vega.
Thanks for bringing old days moments.
You're welcome...Glad You enjoyed it!!

lol...Right on...Thanks for checking it out!!
Thanks!
I hear ya....tastefully done!!
That is the best looking one I saw
Cool car for sure!!
lol...thanks for checking it out!
As usual Scottie another great job. I drive a '71 V8 Vega which has been tubbed. I like the big wheels on this one. Might have to get me some. I have moved the engine back 16". It has a 50/50 weight distribution and comes out of the hole like a cannon.
....and comes out of the hole like a "cannonball"!
No Doubt About It ...
.. That's A Slick Vega.!!
Right on!

Later
Russ
He said it was originally a Motion Performance car at 1:29????? That car would have been worth a small fortune if it was. There were only a few Motion Vegas built.
An original Motion Performance! REALLY??? And he turned it into this? I.......I......I I don't even have words for this. My mind is blown.
I can't remember the last time I saw a real live Vega in the street. It rains a lot where I live and I think most of them melted way back in the 80's.
my dad has a 73 vega you would just love bro
+Nicholas Garcia Cool..Send some pics ScottieDTV@gmail.com

Cool..let me know how that works out!
this car is flat out sharp as hell.
Very cool for sure...glad you liked it!
we have a 74, it needs some work, but it already has a ford nine inch rear end, and is set up for a small block, i like the 72 the best.
Very cool! I wished we could have heard some of the back story of his dad buying a motion Vega new, and daily driving it, and then his sister to school? That’s a story.
Thanks for checking it out!!
Great video on the black Vega. I too like the stance. I think its the 30x16 rear rims.
Thanks....glad you enjoyed it....the wheels have a lot to do with it...and the rears are way cool...
Scottie, as you said, "Those Vegas are cool." It really is a nice ride but not quite as nice as the one before it. I would really appreciate you snagging many more of them. Talk to you later, brother. May God bless you and yours.
I just noticed....they look a lot like a Camaro...
I'm a vegan fan now! wow that was sweeeeeet!!!! good video scottie!

Cool...Thanks for checking this one out here!!
.Thats one FINE Vega there !!!
Tony Z Very nice fir sure!
Had a v8 monza. I love all the old small car builds vega, monza, pinto, these things could go fast for not much money.
I hear ya...they make me smile...
what size of engine?
Back in the day (around '86 I think) I had a dark blue '77 Chevy Monza 2+2 with a 140 cid in-line 4 cyl topped with a progressive 2 bbl carb and backed by a 4 speed manual transmission. It ran absolutely fantastic but the body was all beat up and it had cancer (rust) holes all over it.
I happened across a Baby Blue '77 Vega Hatchback for sale that was in excellent shape for $100 but it came with an automatic transmission and junk 140 motor. I negotiated with the guy for $50 and he kept the transmission.
Long story short, I swapped the engine/transmission from the Monza to the Vega (I saved the Vega motor for parts). It took a bit of work to change over from automatic to manual transmission (changing the pedals was a bitch!) but with the help of a few friends I had her on the road in less than a week.
I could smoke the tires (straight posi-track rear end) in 1st, 2nd and 3rd _and still get a good scratch in 4th!_ Driving it regularly I could go from 0 to 50 in less than ¼ mile and that's plenty of power to get onto the highway. My '77 Vega was the best running and most economical car that I have ever owned (35 mpg hwy) and I wish that I still had her.
+Ordinary Mo Cool...Thanks for checking this one out here!!
ScottieDTV
You're welcome!!
My 327 72 GT had a stripe down the center of the hood and rear deck. That's one fine Vega.
Sounds cool...Glad you liked this one!
I love this one. Had a good story too. Thanks for posting.
labtide My pleasure....Glad you liked it!!
Hey Scottie so now your grabbing peaceful drivers of the road who own cool cars? Nice lol joking aside mate another great American muscle car, keep them coming I really enjoy watching them.
What.? No hole-shot video.? You're killing me man.. hehehe.. thanks for showing..
Stanley Stalvey lol...I do what I can Brother..
NICE VIDIA!
Cool!
Nice, I bought a Vega in 73 and to this day it's one of 3 cars I hate I got rid of. I have a 1979 Monza project car but it's not the same.
Stop...and find a Vega....
+the404man That's ok buddy..peace
Nice..Shame that he cut up an original Motion Vega!!
Vega = "mini camaros" w that almost identical early 70's Camaro front clip. Mechanically, the Vega was an absolute TURD and uncared for the body would rust into oblivion, but it's always heart warming to see one pro street restored. The Vega was emblematic of the U.S. auto industry's worst years. Shame Chevy didn't learn from Mercury's joint venture w Germany at that time, which produced the amazing V6 Capri. Why Ford abandoned is still mystifying to me.
Right on..Thanks for checking this one out here!!
My father had a 1974 vega (I believe) but he HATED IT IN THE WORST POSSIBLE WAY!!! It had a 4-cylinder engine I don't know how many liters it was but I'm guessing it was pretty low because he said it was very underpowered...Although he said when he sold it he gave it to one of his friends from school. And that guy wrecked the car,Tore the car apart,And one thing to do us all a favor...IT WAS PUT IN A SCRAP YARD!
The factory stock Vegas were all pretty much anemic. What makes them great is they are very light and when you swap in some power and the right wheels they look great.
lol...no kidding....well there you go...a Vega!!
Very nice
For sure...Thanks for checking it out!!
Love the v8 vegas. You slipped-up though Scottie. I know you could have got a ride, had you tried. lol
He said it was originally a Baldwin-Motion Vega? If I heard that correctly, then that was certainly a nice start!
Right on....Thanks for checking it out!!
Hey!, Chevy Monzas are cool to.
I agree...I just can't any nice ones...lol
ScottieDTV There all nice, you just have to see past the wimpy looking styling.
But they have so much potential with light-weight and engine-compartment-space.
To me, a perfect-little-car.
1BlubeTube I have one with chassis work for sale. Needs to be finished
I'd show you mine, but don't know how to post a pic..
Owned a 262 Monza, built 2 V-8 Vegas..all SB 327s we all love them .,...at least I do.Dabbled in BB but came back to the strokers and the revs. The weight vs cost..
I have potentially sold my Blazer with the V8 conversion and I know where there is a Vega. I'm going to check and see if I can buy it and run it on the street. The guy campaigned it at the Drag Strip.
So, 'dad' drove this Motion Vega to work for 16 years and his sister drove it to school for 6 years - how cool is that?!?
Way cool for sure!!!
He told me...I don't remeber
My grandpa built these at the GM Lordstown assembly plant.
Cool!
Very nice , Better then the 76 Vega i posted a coiple days ago, an whats up Scottie u hangin at the gas stations now lol ;)
Camaro Jr
It is WAY cool!
AND to still be in the same family...!!!
lol...right on!
What the heck is a "Hot Wheels Edition" Vega? Is that because it has the bigger wheels on it?
As you were rolling down the side of the car it looked as if someone took a 74 mustang front end and cut the middle out of a fastback 67 stang and stuck them together.
Cool....I need to find a Pinto!..lol
I always hang at a gas station at night...plenty of light...and they all need gas sooner or later..lol
Damn dude
Glad You liked it!!
