Somali food looks good i tried it the banana and rice woooh is good it has become a habit that as a kenyan i eat my rice and beans with rice and that right there is a good combo❤❤ 🇸🇴🇸🇴
As a Somali woman my family eats with utensils but we also know how to eat with our right hand without making a mess. I hope you guys have a chance to try a Somali restaurant in your area soon!
I am a Somali Canadian and I have come across your channel yesterday and I loved it. I watched several of your shows and they are diverse and great. Well done and congratulations. the other thing I wanted to point out is the fact that you are also exposing the various and diverse African cultures to the Americans. African Americans can appreciate such programs which exposes them to their African heritage. Your kind of programs or shows are something that we can all be proud of. Thank you and I wish you all the best.
My old neighbour used to make us samosa and sambusa. The samosa were too spicy for my little one yet they tasted so good he kept eating while tears streamed down his face lol. We were so lucky to eat her food. I miss her so much. And did that guy say “but it was a loud kid”. Lol what fun.
They’re just standing all casually next to aunt Hiiba-Nuura like she isn’t who she is. She is the Somali Gladys Knight and long in the tooth so to speak.
Yaay finally soemthing from somalia🇸🇴 im long time fan and viewer and been waiting for reaction to somalia 😢 im glad you did it atlast👏🏽👏🏽 somalia has political issues but its beautiful nation with beautiful people, so much potential we just need peace and safety 😢..plz keep up the amazing content and more somali videos..lots of love from somali in Australia❤🇸🇴🇭🇲
OMGGGGG I’m in this video even though I’m barely in the shot 😂 I ran in Chef Jamal at Karmel Mall which is where they started by the coffee shop, Jamal as well as all the other chefs are truly incredible people and chefs. The restaurants have amazing food choices and I’m so excited you’re reviewing and watching. I would loooove to see our black Americans brothers and sisters join and create a mall where y’all have clothes and music and salons and bar-bar shops and all the amazing southern and soul foods you guys make make. Respect to all 🌍
African-American culture is unique and contributes greatly to American identity and culture. The most important part of American culture that is copied and admired in the world has roots in the African American culture. Im somali, danish by citizenship.
Thank you guys for representing our culture. Look small business or restaurant around your state. I think every state , there are Somalia and they maybe have small businesses and restaurants there because we are people business. Thanks again guys👌👌👍👍👍. I like you videos ❤️❤️❤️.
Wow it is amazing. I would love to see you do more of food culture African like Somalia, Ghana, and other African example West Africa and East Africa - Thanks alot well explained.
If you live in the south you can go to Atlanta Georgia Somali restaurant or Nashville Tennessee. In Atlanta GA, there’s a large Somali and Ethiopian community where you can find a variety of foods if you google it you won’t miss it. It okay to use utensils but as Africans we love to use our hands because we’re deeply ingrained in our traditions. . I have a lot of African American friends here in Omaha Nebraska and we go to Eithiopian and Somali restaurants near by. It’s blessing to have something that reminds as home. Thank you for this post, you guys are really amazing.
We have been taught from childhood how to use our hands it also depends on which tribe in my tribe bakiga from western Uganda we don't put all our fingers in the mouth and you begin from one side of the plate to a nother not touching the whole plate so just in case you leave the food you will be able to eat it again or eating with other people on one plate each one eats in their front we can all end at the middle of the plate most times we would leave that for the younger person on the group So that way it never gets messy but after some time using forks and spoons you some how get messy with some dishes like rice or soups
Most don’t eat with hands just here and there mostly when sharing a plate with a friend we use hands but most restaurants u won’t see someone going in with the hands
Islam unites us. Even in America being Muslim enables us to automatically have a community wherever we go the masjid (mosque) brings us together as well as other Muslim communities.
hand is the most efficient way to eat of course you have cleanse properly but you get to appreciate every bite and with practice you never drop a piece of rice
16:29 it would be cool to see African Americans explaining to the younger generation about their culture of celebrating there first borns(Kwanza), and many more. African Americans is a cool culture, way of life.
@the demouchets i like all your reactions on about somalis foods, culture etc if u guys live anywhere close to Atlanta ,nashville then theres big somali communities down south
I live in Europe and we have our own culture meeting places restaurants we celebrate our national day 🇸🇴 speak Somali even though never seen 💯 nothing special to USA 🙌🏾
I use my hand if I need too but if them chickens wing then use the hand for it an rice but sometime, I just use my spoon for the rice an hand just for the chicken but it whatever it feel right
As a Somali British our food is just out of this word, underated and definitely appreciated from outsiders. Also in general Somalis can settle in any part of the word and start their own business, we’re easily entrepreneurs and build our own community wherever we are. Also we are the most homogeneous land and ethnic in the whole of Africa and one of the most homogeneous in the world. Our forefathers worked their butt off to protect our culture and religion and 3/4 of Africa, hence why we’re known as the strongest warriors and the lions of Africa 🩸🇸🇴
I eat with my hands every since I started eating freely it’s like so common I have hard time using utensils in restaurants and that’s when it gets messy
You use both of your hands for everything, but for washing genital area...you use ur left hand , which means u never use ur left hand to eat or shake someone's hand. Even after u use toilet paper , u must still use ur laft hand and wash ur privates with water .....that is part of the oblution process to make sure you are clean enough to do ur prayer...bc you must be at ur cleanliest to speak with ur maker ( in islam you speak directly with God). So your right hand is for eating, for shaking another person's hand etc. Think of it as putting ur right foot first....a good gesture.
I am Ethiopian living in Canada… I know you were hold back those tears I feel like crying with girl. African Americans did have this kind of place, but it was destroyed, AKA WALL-STREET !!!
So about the eating with the hand it's cultural but also religious and no we don't do it with mess cause it's practice you get good imagine Somali who never used spoons or falk with have the same problem. Good video guys I have seen the video b4 I am your customer now
I dont know what that American sanbuusa taste like but for me if it doesn't contain fresh green chilies and fresh Cilantro it is not a proper Somali Sanbuusa
huge that was a tinny plate we got good ass food tho i got to love my people and with the improvement of our country right now ishallah it was become greater i you will see the food everywere
Well, I do not agree when she said women are not allowed to become entrepreneurial in Somalia. That is not true because majority of businesses in Somalia is owned by women it’s always been that way, even if you go back 50 years.
The thing about Somali women is that we treat them better and respect more than any other country on the planet imagine in other countries the law is protecting the woman in Somalia they are treated with respect not because of Law because it's the right thing

Not everybody eats with hands in Somalia , but eating hand is more of a Muslim thing, but even in Asia it's common like in India and across Africa too
We keep everything in the plate nothing falls on the table. Its a skill.

No you can use your left hand for support but make sure your hands are clean but to take a bite only your right hand very good question
