The russian woman dreams that her husband-to-be, after returning from the war in Ukraine, will join the Wagner PMC, and then will be able to give her even a severed human head.
‘You’ll bring me lots of military tunics, someone’s head. I showed Lizka how Wagner guys cut off a man’s head,’ the fiancée shares the plans of their future married life.
Moreover, without a military jacket, also called tunic, there’s no coming home for the occupier, because the girl, brought up in the ‘great’ russian culture, plans to use the ‘Khokhol’s tunic’ [Khokhol, a derogatory russian term for Ukrainians] in role-playing games with her future husband.

I rarely tend to generalise, but there are so many interceptions with sick individuals in Russia, that at this point I'm pretty sure this nation deserves its fate.

And you shouldn't. Ukraine is intercepting thousands of phone calls a day and we get to hear one or two per day. It is powerful propaganda by Ukraine and make no mistake - I'm all for it! Still, you shouldn't generalize. Most Russians are normal human beings, just raised under political oppression and trained to better not interfere with its rulers.

I served 21 years in the US Marine Corps as an infantry officer with 3 full years in combat. War is chaotic, brutal, horrific, and emotions can run high after seeing you friends killed and horribly wounded. In the 10 years of the Vietnam War, we had 68,000 killed and many times that wounded. There were a few incidents in which US soldiers took revenge because they snapped mentally. But in my experiences we always treated enemy wounded and prisoners well. I can't speak for the South Vietnamese and we know the North Vietnamese treated our POWs with torture and brutality.
But this phone intercept goes far beyond anything I experiences or was aware of in 3 years of combat. It's one of the most disgusting insights to the Russian people.
My opinion of the Russians has changed dramatically since Feb 24, 2022. I don't think civilized nations will have normal relations with Russia for many decades to come--if ever.
Sounds to me like that woman needs to see and experience combat first hand. She needs to hear the zip and crack of bullets whizzing by her head, and an arty strike on her position. Tunics, heads, and patches won't be prizes, but reminders of the horrors of war. That will shut her up.
I agree with you, before the war I was starting to warm up to Putin as a strong leader, and Russians as a hard people making the best of hard times, and even appreciated his reasoning for the unfair 'negotiations'' that were happening, hoping they would eventually bring a more fair capitalistic life for the people, now though, I see I was mistaken that that is what they were seeking, even thinking back to the Russians I knew, in Russia and abroad, I can see how this darkness could have lived within them. How many decades to fix this cultural sickness?

I think many people have drastically changed their opinions about Russia and Russians since last February. Prior to the attack on Ukraine, I certainly had some idea of just how bad Putin's regime was. I live in the UK, and it was hard to remain indifferent after Russian agents used a nerve agent (in a very cavalier way) in an attempt to assassinate someone living in Britain who had pissed Putin off. But still, my main feeling was that the passivity of the Russian people had created the toxic brew they were living in, and it was up to them to sort it out. As long as they didn't try to mess with other countries, they had the right to be left alone.

What we've been seeing in Ukraine is proof that Russian society isn't just messed up in relatively minor ways (as all countries are). Russia is actually deranged. It's psychotic, mixed with the sort of collective narcissism that comes with extreme ethnic nationalism. The SlavicRussians believe they're better than the Ukrainians. They believe they have the right to inflict their will on them. They actually believe they're on God's mission in Ukraine. This is a mediaeval mindset, so it's not surprising that the way the Russians have been treating Ukrainians is similar to the barbarity that was commonplace in that period.
I almost feel sorry for this man and his children. Imagine your wife is a blood-thirsty psychopath? This man needs to go home and free his children from this horrible woman. Only then he will be a hero...

what they were talking about never crossed my mind while at war. As in taking stuff from the dead or prisoners. This conversation just turned my stomach
It’s been around since war began, but usually it’s just gear or patches. The taking of biological trophies (scalps, heads, teeth, ears, skulls, noses, tattoos) only comes out in the most brutal and gruelling of conflicts where there is a clear barrier to empathy. (Language, race, ideological indoctrination, etc)
The most recent example of this happening in the US army (that I know of) was the taking of trophies from the imperial Japanese in WW2. Most commonly the head would have the skin boiled off so the skull could be displayed on a spike or taken hone. It was probably also practiced in Vietnam but I haven’t read about it.
I think there’s a regulation in most armies about looting patches but it’s unlikely to be enforced when it’s keeping morale up. Hideous practice even when it’s just boots or medals, but older than humanity itself.
Really? I mean..... it's really as old as war. I'm assuming Iraq and Afghanistan wars were different than your average army scale, front line war.

My grandfather was born in 1901 and he spent many years after both wars in his radio shack at the bottom of the garden( it was an old WW11 army truck full of equipment) listening out for a Russian attack. I try to explain to people when they say, "this war is all just because of Putin", I'm like, you have to understand it's WAY more systematic and deep than that. It goes all the way down to the rural people that live in Russia... it's a huge part of the country that thinks in this neanderthalic kind of way. This interception is an excellent example of, what propaganda can do to people. They´re living in a different world, a bubble which destroys all kinds of emotions, humanity and open mind. This may aren´t the smartest Russians in this audio file, but it pretty much reflects a lot of russian people, sadly even those out of Russia. However, there is still hope, many russians try to leave right now or hide their real thoughts about their government, while the most brainwashed people start to ask questions. Any further events could bring the house of cards down very quickly, as we saw while the counter attack, it´s boiling and some people demand answers.
Most Russians are aware of propaganda and that the media is lying a lot, but they would get upset, if they see the truth in full scale, of what is currently happening and happened in the past. Remember, this propaganda is already ongoing for more than a decade and just peaked with the start of the so called "special military operation".
Huge respect to Ukraine and their people, not losing their minds on especially PoWs and conversations with Russians. I hope the West will push the deliveries even more, so we can celebrate the entire liberation of Ukraine, or a peace treaty in favor of the ukrainian conditions early 2023!
