Jeeze. Nice setup. I'll be the wacky guy with stretch nets and bungee cords holding my gear on. Nevermind the wire management. Your charging setup gives me ideas....
I really like this setup, it would be nice to have everything charged in the tank bag as that is where I would prefer the electronics while on a trip. It gave me some good ideas. Thank you.
Hi Masons it's clever thinking about electricity connection, in the end of your vedio i noticed something on the ground beside your rear tire, I hope you noticed it before leaving this spot.
Great wiring work there Mason. Well thought out system for sure. We're getting geared up this week for our Cape Breton trip and I'm struggling to find ways to keep all our stuff charged. This helps a lot.
Love it! I have the same multi-port USB charger, I usually use a battery borrowed from work, but can also use the SAE plug from the battery tender pigtail. I still don't have a drone....... :(
Sweet mother of God!! How does the bike still run? Did you have to upgrade the output of the alternator to keep everything running? That is an amazing tank bag! Like the versatility of it! Hope you guys have an Amazing trip, looking forward for you to share it with us. Cheers
Hey Ryan, It’s all low amperage charging. The LED lights are are less of a draw than standard halogen. The most draw would be the heated grips but the bike handles it fine with stock stator setup and non lithium battery 👍
Haha, yeah It looks worse than it is ;) The Gen 2 KLR produces 238 watts running and uses 85 watts for systems stock. Less if you switch to LED lights. That leaves 153 watts for charging and accessories. ( The high beam uses an extra 55w) Cheers Ryan!
I really enjoyed this overview of how you charge stuff on your bike. The Rokk waterproof housing is a good solution. Did you look at using a smart power block system to manage connections to the motorcycle? I love the Georgian Bay area and the trips you guys take. Be well. Cheers
Hi, First of all, good video! So, if i want to make a connection directly from my motorcycle battery, i can connect a Noco X-Connect Eyelet Terminal directly to the battery, then use the Noco GC004 X-Connect 10' Extension Cable (unfortunately is much longer than needed but the Eyelet Terminal is way too short) and finally get just a conector that will replace the 12v plug?! It would be better if the Eyelet Terminal was bigger; that way i wouldn't have to have a connection between that and the extension cable "inside" the bike. Just one last question (this is even more naive ah ah ah) I have a KTM 1290 Super Adventure S (2018) that has tft dash, electronic start, electronic suspension, abs, cornering abs bla bla bla. Also, connected on the front i have heated grips, a Garmin Zumo XT on acc2 (turns off with the ignition), and fog lights (turning on/off manually). So my question is: Can i "run" a usb charger like the one you use for, at the same time, charge drone batteries, 1 charger with 3 GoPro batteries, a smartphone, a 20.000mAh powerbank and something else? Or will it be too "heavy" for the battery of my motorcycle? Thanks and sorry for the long comment. Cheers
Hey Kurt, Thanks! As for your setup, you will need to do some math on what your bike is capable of putting out vs the stock equipment and see what you have left for charging. Obviously you wont run your grips often but may need to be careful when you do. I used the Noco connections because they are heavy duty and it gives me the ability to undo the one connection and eliminate almost everything I have added to the bike for trouble shooting on the road but you can wire it however you like. Cheers :)
I didn't get the functionality of the plug next to the rear spring? could you tell me what that is for again, thanks. Is necessary or the lines can be plug directly to the battery?
They can be wired directly. That plug has an led so i can tell my battery level at a glance and it gives me a point to completely disconnect my wiring from the battery for trouble shooting. Cheers!
This is a professional powerplant!!!
Now that is SLICK! Wish I was better with electrics and soldering. Much better than my set up. Very impressed.
Thanks 👍 Designed out of necessity lol. Cheers Critter!

It works well when everything is in it's place ;) Cheers!
That’s quite a set up. Nicely done.
Cheers Jim :)
Great tips, you have an amazing setup. Love your work!!!
Great charging and electronic set-up! It's well thought out and practical. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice Mason, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Ian. Cheers :)

Great video. do you use any PDMs or anything ? liek the Thunderbox or the PDM60 ?
Great timing as stuck in lockdown and looking at ways to set up for my klr some great ideas and tips
Cheers Andro :)
I am going to come down and see you so you could wire up mine. Will pay

Nice Ron. The USB port works great! Cheers man :)

@@masonsadv Hey Mason, love your channel. Where are u based out of? Im based out of Mississauga. Would love to chat to you re the KLR
Great job !
Thanks!
Good afternoon 🍺, you have a lot going on. You don’t have a stock KLR battery? Obviously you don’t have a problem keeping it charged while on trips. 🍻
Hey Steve! I have an AGM aftermarket battery in the KLR and so far it hasn't let me down even charging the gear at camp.
I know I’m late to the party but my 2015 KLR just turned 5000 miles. Just wondering when everyone replaced their doo hickey at? ASAP?

I did look into them but I didn't think it was necessary only needing 3 outputs. Cheers Bob.
Excellent!!

Can I know what watch your rocking? I am a big g-shock guy
This is the G-shock Rangeman. It's been a great watch like all the G's ;) amzn.to/3jYEvyD
What cameras do you use? I'm growing tired of the GoPro's
We run the Sony AS300 but unfortunately they are becoming hard to find for some reason.
@@masonsadv ya I like clarity of your videos and would like better sound and image for my dirt road teips
Great setup but I must say is a bunch.
