Carrying a burrito in your tank bag is pure genius. I am going to re-think my entire loadout right now. I do not, however, carry my smartphone in my tank bag. That is always on me, somewhere, in case I and my bike separate ways; and two to insulate its camera from vibrations. Awesome video as always!
When I go to a motorcycle rally it is pretty normal to stop the bike on grass, sometimes the ground is a bit soft and the bike would fall over if I put it on the side stand and get off. I have a square of plywood that I can put under the sidestand so that it doesn't sink into the ground, but the bike will fall over if I put it on the sidestand and get off to get the plywood out of the top box. So, I keep that square of plywood in the tank bag, so that I can get it out and drop it to the ground and move it with my foot to under the side stand. This is the #1 thing I have found to be better in my tank bag than anywhere else on the bike.
Yeah, it might have been a bear claw ad. I love them so much. I have chap stick in my bag too, but like sunscreen forget to use it. I should have combined those items. Cheers.
Once I learned about the dangers of sunscreen, I just started being better about covering up instead. Long sleeves, etc. But seriously, great video. Thanx for taking the time
Good stuff. I always keep chap stick in there, and on longer rides I keep a small tire pressure gauge tucked in the tank bag somewhere. If I leave it in my tool kit I tend to neglect the occasional pressure check
Very informative, thank you. Given me a few good additions to my setup 👍🏻 A couple of key additions I've got in mine is visor cleaner (30ml), Small lithium battery for the keyfob (CR2032), needed this a few times on my R1250GSA. Lastly a USB cable and small powerbank in order to charge the Gopro, Coms unit (Sena 50R) and ultimately the phone.
The small lithium battery is a great addition. My keyfob on my GS also died. What a pain. I always carry a small battery pack and cables, just not in my tank bag, no room left. Cheers.
ouch bro! Heal up Matt. Great tips for the Tank bag, it makes me jealous because i fill mine up with my camera gear lol. The multi tool is in mine though that is a MUST in my humble opinion. Happy Hollidays Cheers
Burrito and Bearclaw, you got that right. Always good to have a source of energy out there. I'd recommend also a small bottle of water if you have a bigger tank bag, and if you don't wear a hydration backpack. One more item that I always carry on my tank bag is ear protection. You can stuff foam plug in all sorts of nooks and cranies in the tank bag.
I was not expecting a burrito. However, if you’re knocking out some miles and want to keep rolling, this is genius! The Ciro big a$$ cup holder can hold the burrito between bites as well!
I'm intrigued - what is a bear claw? Is it sweet or savoury? One other thing to carry are compressed towels. They're about the size of a mint but add water they become a good sized cotton flannel. Great for a quick clean and take next to no space.
It occurred to me just before you mentioned it that I don’t carry a toilet kit. TP, a trowel and a piece of rope. When hiking or mountaineering I’d carry a piece of rope to wrap around a tree or rock and lean back. You don’t want to shit in your pants. I also carry a small first aid kit. I also carry paper maps.
I ah, always find something to hang a cheek off of. I can always find a rock or fallen log. I usually dig with a stick or whatever I can find. I haven't tried to the rope technique yet, that would be hard in the desert with nothing to tie it to. Cheers.
I have not watched the video yet, it's paused at five seconds. I owned that tank bag, all I can think is "How many items can he fit in that tiny tank bag???" - Frank
Those Bon Appetite Bear Claws are fantastic. The only problem that I have with them is I never eat only one, always 2 at a time, because Pilot/Flying J truck stops always have a deal 2 for $3.50 and I just have to eat both of them. Also in my tank bag I carry small packages of mix nuts( trail mix style without the chocolate).
OK, I'm sorely tempted to unsubscribe, as item 2 is just tormenting me. WE DONT HAVE THOSE HERE IN SCOTLAND and I would kill for one. Heard of them a couple of years ago, and I have craved one ever since. Anyway, hope your face heals up quickly and you can fit your head in your helmet again. I carry some cable ties and some electrical tape in my tank bag , quickest accessible, rather than tucked elsewhere in with my tools. oh, and I carry a cargo net in mine, in the map pocket at the top, so if I end up going to a shop for item 3 on the way to a campsite, since they never sell single rolls, and now here in Scotland at least they generally come in 4 packs, I can whip out the cargo net and ride along with securely attached toilet rolls, for all the world to admire. fun video Matt, cheers
Glad you enjoyed it. My zip ties are in my toolkit, never leave home without. I ate at a Chiootle in London if you are seriously desperate to try one. Cheers.
@@advmatt Woah, I'll look into that. My other great ambition has always been a chilli dog at a baseball match. I need to up my ambitions, eh :) All the best pal.
I have to say I cringe when you talk about taking your helmet off... No tp but I do have wet ones, you can use them to clean up after the bear claw! Nowadays I have a mask in there but usually have some mints or candies.

Thanks man. Someone needs to make a smartphone that can survive real use. I hate these things.
Agreed. Burrito in foil is genius. Throw that thing on the exhaust and it's ready by the time the tent is up! Thanks ADVMatt!
I add a small first aid kit.
LMAO over the burrito! That’s hilarious! But I agree with those bear claws. I pick one up at the first gas stop every time.

Lol, i thought maybe this was a special post malone episode- glad to see your safe. Keep up the solid content!!
Wait a second!!! Did I just sit through a Bear Claw commercial? Nice list. Might want to add chapstick to sun screen.
Yeah, it might have been a bear claw ad. I love them so much. I have chap stick in my bag too, but like sunscreen forget to use it. I should have combined those items. Cheers.
Perfect! I need to find the Bearclaws!
Once I learned about the dangers of sunscreen, I just started being better about covering up instead. Long sleeves, etc. But seriously, great video. Thanx for taking the time
Thanks. I made this one for entertainment.
Matt, i have the same tank bag but it's so small i've reverted back to my larger Marsee for overnight trips. You missed my #1....9mm Glock:)
The tank bag is packed pretty tight, I might need a bigger one for more burritos.
Burrito is pure genius!!!!
TP has and always will be and is for number 2, lol! But after eating your number 3, I can see how number 2 is a necessity!
Always good to have snacks
I appreciate the story about the cow. In my area cows are common challenges when ADV riding as a lot of the wilder roads run through open pasture.
Good stuff. I always keep chap stick in there, and on longer rides I keep a small tire pressure gauge tucked in the tank bag somewhere. If I leave it in my tool kit I tend to neglect the occasional pressure check
I have chap stick too. Pressure gauge is a great item.
13 Sharpie
12 Micro Fiber towel
11 Stormproof Match Kit
10 Spare gloves

8 Spare Earplugs
7 Reading Glasses with LED lights

4 Chewing gum
3 Energy Bars
2 Johnnie Walker Black Label miniature bottle (200ml) (if bikes brake down)
1 First Aid Kit with tourniquet, antihistamine, painkillers and antiacid (Adventure Medical)
Great list. Tourniquet is a great item to carry, mine is strapped to my hydration pack.
Along with the flashlight I've got a tire gauge.
Great item to carry.
Very informative, thank you.

Thanks, I healed up pretty fast. I also carry camera gear too. I need a bigger tank bag but it puts certain things at risk offroad. Cheers.
@@advmatt glad to hear you healed up well!
Happy holidays
i take a ton of jerky lol but bear claw be added that's a good idea
Good tongue in cheek for the last 2. But dude wipes replace toilet paper and double as antiseptic wipes for emergency
Great tip. I need to switch to wipes.

Bear Claws are a sweet, pastry with almond cream filling. They are a treat on the trail.
Those are stupid.

I am failing to see the problem with eating two bear claws at a time....... they are too good.
No2 or no3?
I see what you did there...
Roll of 1" gorilla tape and one of those rubber visor wiper things that you put on your thumb in the rain, whatever they're called...
Great ones, I keep the tape on a screwdriver in my tool bag. I need to try the squiggy.
Is this the small or large Olympus?
Large
1, 2, and 3 are funny. Bear claws. Really? 🤣
Really!
@@advmatt Honestly, I can’t argue against your logic!
Micro cleaning rag and visor cleaning solution in a small spray bottle. In Canada bugs love to commit suicide on your visor !! 👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦
