  • 🇷🇺 You can take trains from Moscow to all kinds of romantic sounding places; St Petersburg, Vladivostok, Beijing...Well I didn't do that, instead I chose to go to Saransk the capitol of the backwater republic of Mordovia. Yeah I have no idea why I did it either.

I haven't searched for this, but that was a wholesome video, thank you. The train is really the most authentic way to travel our country. I remember when I did that as a kid doing a ~24-hour trip to Crimea with my family. Seeing every stop and station, every city and village all the way may be time-consuming, but somehow taking a plane just feels wrong, you don't feel like you're really travelling, more like teleporting.

@@radmaster13 Do you know that 77.85% of soviet people voted on referendum in 1991 for preservation of Soviet Union's integrity? The needs of majority are more important than the needs of minority. That's called democracy. And despite the will of the nation, a bunch of traitors in power sponsored by west destroyed The Union, violating all the laws of USSR. So WHAT oppressed people are you talking about? Those who wanted to leave The Union, have got what they wanted, meanwhile ALL THE RIGHTS OF THE BIGGEST PART of people of USSR WERE violated. The MAJORITY was oppressed when The Union was ruined and this majority IS STILL oppressed, because it lost the rights Soviet Union provided them. Also for you to know, USSR is the union of sovereign republics, where every republic can leave the union under controllable procedure in accordance with the laws. Next, there were no borders inside Soviet Union, there were no differentiation by nationality and travel was inexpensive, so there were many people born in one area of Soviet Union and living in another, so don't mix "nations" with geographical areas.

    Quick story:
A few years ago, myself and some family members were in Moscow and were going to St Petersburg by the Sapsan high-speed train. Apparently we were reading the time wrong and as we exited the metro station to go to the railway station we realised that we were running late for our train and started rushing through a busy evening Moscow street. As soon as we reached the platform, our train began leaving.
There was another Sapsan train waiting at the other side of the platform, also heading for St Petersburg. We tried asking its operators to let us board, and they actually let us in! They didn't have to, it was our fault that we missed our train, but they did. We ended up going to St Petersburg and it was very nice.

Same happened to me once. The Sapsan train chief was very nice and actually let myself and a few more people in, who got late, apparently this is unofficial but common practice, since they know you already paid for your ticket for the very same train effectively, so it's not like any kind of fraud against the railway operator.

Americans do this on free for all flights every day. Everyone has their assigned seat but they must get there first. Smart airlines board groups by seating to make getting on and off easy.
However, it never fails that some dumbass will hold up 20 people, trying to cram some shit into the overhead storage. They can't just step aside and let everyone by first, nope, gotta wait on the Queen to come to grips with spatial reasoning and a barely legal sized carry on.
