I suspected you might move over 6 months ago. Admittedly, I selfishly woshed you would never leave, because you provide such a vital service to New Yorkers. Your shop has replaced a hard drive for me, recovered all my pics, videos and data from my android phone after I went swimming in the Ocean with it in my pocket 🤣. Once, your techs did not charge me when the issue was so small, something aikin to tightening some screws. He did it while I waited, in 5 minutes, handed me back my iMac and I asked him what's the cost, he said Nothing. You're store is the best and we are losing a huge asset. I am so upset that NYC government has basically harrassed you out of town! 😡 I wish you well, but am sad to see you go. I hope you don't move only to find that it was not NYC, it's the United States and you find these same problems elsewhere. Good luck.
@@rossmanngroup I was thinking the same thing as the commenter. I think I even sent email at one point recommending that you seriously consider moving despite the consequences for some of your employees. I'm glad you came to that realization on your own, because I could see things getting worse, not better.
I fear that New York City is a peek into the future of the whole of the US; those staying until the end of the dinner finding they've been stuck with the bill. Good luck with your move. I hope you love it down there. Oh, I understand that Austin is the liberal corner, or one of them, of Texas. It probably doesn't hold a candle to New York City, but you might find it rather familiar.
@@rossmanngroup I would like to see this idea about the repair-food-truck , placed right in front of Apples location in New York to come true, before you leave!!! How big are the chances for this stunt? (Or did I miss it?)
I am somebody who has nothing to do with phone repair, soldering or any of that, but have been watching you for years for the "life advice" so to speak. Good luck, you've got this.
Same here, hes very well at speaking and puts things 2gether very well! This guy opened me eyes to things i don't really think of being a issue! Hope Louis the best and hope he and those like him get this all squared away!
@@rossmanngroup why a non profit? You have a legitimate business case with right to repair. Non profits are usually there to act as a front for shady businesses.
Remember, you built a business and it is/was profitable. You proved people wrong and shared knowledge and expertise. Your passion for R2R has been proven, so dedicated to it will start to counter the crap that is out there.
Louis- I have never seen you this excited about something in any of your videos since 2014. When I tell people you trained me one-one in 2015 and 2016, I always highlight that you taught me soo much more then just board repair. You are the perfect example that hard work pays off and "everything does happen for a reason". I will definitely fly over from OC, CA, to see the new facility when it is finished!
I can't think of any other employer on Earth that would inform an employee that their services may not be needed in 6 months and helping them to get on their feet somewhere else. This dudes ethics are on another level.
Unions can make that happen - they can negotiate with the employer that they have to help the workers find work elsewhere, pay for courses for further qualifications or similar - all additionally to the 3 months notice required by law. Welcome to Germany, Europes economic power house and the worlds fourth largest economy in spite of its relatively mediocre size in both area and population. Still, he does it without a union making him - mad props for that!
@@kennichdendenn Unfortunately, companies in America are talented at getting out of, and around, such requirements, even when they're being forced by contracts or laws. Generally they'll declare bankruptcy, or sometimes even simply lock the doors one day and leave zero dollars in their accounts to cover transition costs. No warning to the employees in the worst cases; they show up to work the next day and can't get in because nobody with a key to the front door is there to open up.
Not that uncommon where I live (Europe). Normal legal period for a notice is 3 months. So, if you want to leave, or when they want to let you go you have to inform the other party 3 months in advance. O know people that have taken severance packages of up to 14 months of salary to voluntarily leave the company.
and here's to NYC losing a very good man... They can't afford him, and they don't deserve him. My only hope is that the people he leaves behind can be just as succesful if not more so.
@@MarioGuevaraC The taxes, the policies, the previous mayor who should not be named, the current administration that thinks destroying dirt bikes and e-bikes are what they should be focused on and not the vampant violent crimes, the high cost of life to live in an small apartment and the utter hostility to small business. Really, its easier to say why he didn't want to move.
A boss once gave me a months notice a week before I signed a lease. Ended up moving to another part of the country and significantly growing my life. Great stuff, Sir
I can do you one better. I was working for Willinet in Sioux City Iowa doing tech support in 2001. They sold to a company in Des Moines iowa. They told use the phone support department was being let go. THAT evening after work I was going to go sign an apartment lease. After that, I moved home with my parents. Was a total slouch for 6 months, got a job at Wells Blue Bunny, moved out and rented a house, then Blue Bunny layed off their summer help. Then I was a sloutch for another 6 months. THEN in 2003 started my own computer repair business, and have been doing it ever since :)
@@warwagon Yeah, I've been self employed since I was 17. Started work with my dad (who I'd worked with weekends since 13-14) and then started my own side business doing the same thing. Just doing the work my dad didn't feel like bothering with. Still run his business and my own. Though I don't bother much with my own since I'm taking his over any year now, haha.
I understand your reasons, but what about the bike rides around NYC, I'm devastated. You better live somewhere worthwhile with vacant real estate & garbage on the street so I have something to point out & say I'm glad I live where I do. Good luck on the next chapter in you life.
Depending on what part of Austin there is plenty of trash, homeless camps, tent cities/streets. Excited to see what he gets into out there, night life can be trippy.
10:20 (again roughly) I think you have been doing above and beyond for your employees and your staff (even the ones who are not able to continue to be a part of Rossman Repair Group going forward) understands this and doesn't fault you for what NYC is doing to you. I mean if it was me I'd be disappointed but I'd totally get it and would thank you for doing what you have up until now for all these years
Agree 100%. Louis has gone above and beyond and no reasonable person can slam him for how he's going about this move. You just can't please some of the extremists in the antiwork reddit movement (which he mentions at around 12:20). A vast majority of the people in that group are reasonable, but there are a few extremists who are anything but. They just don't want a society where anyone works for anyone else.
I don't repair electronics. I work with leather, steel, and wood. Yet for several years I have been following you Louis. Have to say I'm excited to see your move and what the future holds for you. As you said it's likely I followed you for the middle finger to bullies haha.
Getting the hell out of NYC seems like the right move, you did your best to stick through all the hell that the petty tyrants in the bureaucracy could throw at you and nobody could say you didn't try to make it work. But everyone and every business has that breaking point where it's just not financially or mentally viable to continue under that kind of stress and you have to make a move. Props to you for doing it quickly and cleanly and I hope your new venture in Texas with your new employer works out well for you! P.S. as a bonus you can enjoy some of the finer things in life like texas bbq and range days.
I don't think that this channel is solely about the concept of right to repair or the feeling of saying FU to big corporations. It is personal. I feel to some degree that I know you and feel a connection too you. That is to say this channel is personal. Your cause, your quest for a space, your cat, your work, your beliefs about your work are all a part of that. If channel was the Right To Repair News Network Channel I would hope that it moved people and accomplish it's goals but I personally would not watch as much because I prefer to get news from text. It's fast and efficient. However it is less personal. I would probably instead look for another person that is willing to share themselves and their passion(rants etc.) and watch that person instead. My view on this might not be representative.
Louis is an asshole with a heart of gold who just wants to help people. Aka - he's odd. And we all obviously like that about him. I suspect most of us are probably odd too. Those of us who watch this channel do so for Louis himself (and Mr. Clinton too of course).
Yes we love Louis because we feel connected to him. His rants or monologues are well worded and we agree with them. And for us that are the same generation as louis we probably have just as many cats or dogs and no children 🤣
Honestly watching "On moving: I've made a BIG mistake." and "90% of restaurants not making rent in NYC - leases can't be renegotiated. Businesses are dying." You gave us all the signs that this day was coming. Welcome to Austin TX. Screw NYC. Lets get it, Rossmann realty season 4! We missed season 1 back in 2008-2011 because you didn't have a channel. We not missing the season 4!
@@kingforaday8725 Not all of Austin is a shithole, mostly just the central and east parts of Austin. Central because of the massive homeless problem and east because it's hot and cold running bullet town. But all of Austin is a libtard shithole that gets worse by the year. The insane city spending has skyrocketed taxes well over 500% in the last 10 years, and they keep passing multiple huge bonds every year that just keep it going up. What used to make Austin what it was has slowly been pushed out due to the unsustainable tax increases. All of the classic restaurants like Huts, Angie's Pizza, Threadgills, Spaghetti Warehouse, etc. are gone. A lot of the venues for comedy and music are also gone. If you want the armpit of Texas, that'd be down in the valley and a bit up from there. Once you get down to Three Rivers and Alice, it gets pretty run down and destitute. Nearer the border in Edinburg, McAllen and Pharr, it gets pretty bad. If Louis can avoid the ire of the city government, he might just survive down here. Austin is full of miserable asshole extraordinaire Apple users, he'll have an endless conga line of customers. I've been turning away Apple users here for years because I don't have the equipment to repair them. But if He's coming here, I'll just point them his way instead.
Thats awesome. Your videos 7 or 8 years ago inspired me to learn component level board repair on gate operator control boards. That being said I started a business out of necessity and client demand. It was supposed to have been a short term gig. Like a year or less. But with the inspection of your channel it's now 11yrs later. Your videos helped me learn what test equipment I needed to expand the service Im able to offer and the different struggles of owning a business etc. Component level control panel board repair is what kept me going through all this COVID craze. Work never slows down. With supply shortages repair over replace was the only option and still is in some cases. Im thankful for your videos inspiring me years ago. With out them I wouldn't have purchased test equipment and learn this skill. Without this skill I would have been seating at home out of work during the shut downs, like everyone else. I get service calls from time to time in Texas. Maybe one day our paths will cross and I'll be able to shake your hand in person and thank you for everything you've done.
You've come a looong way. I've been following this channel for the board repair, stayed for the lulz about NYC, Rossmann Realty, no BS talks on various matters and just your in your face no BS attitude. I started watching in a very bad time of my life and you sometimes were a valuable reality check for me. Thank you for that. FUTO sounds like a really great project and New Hampshire sounds like a retirement home for the elderly anyway, you sounded and looked pretty weird on your first videos taken there. I hope you have a great start and even greater success in TX and don't think it was luck that presented you with those opportunities. It is the meticulous work, incorruptible no BS attitude and the care and attention you put into the things you touch. Well deserved Mr. Rossmann!
Truthfully Louis, I am so proud and happy to see this. Of course your board repair videos inspired me in many ways to push myself and the fact your still pushing yourself and proving to everyone and yourself that you are 100% capable. Thank you and I look forward to seeing right to repair become even more of a reality!
Hello from the Mobile Notary from LA(lower Alabama). I have watched your vids with great glee. You expound what I have always tried to do in my life. Sharing knowledge and education to others has been my goal in life. Those you teach are not the competion but another source of value to the world. Thank you for the value you have given to us. Your level is much higher than mine has been but I will continue as you will for the betterment for all.
Something I just realized while watching this video. Part of your natural character and personality involves the mastery of escaping overwhelmingly toxic situations that would crush regular people, and being able to survive without needing to go back, even if it completely sucks for a while. Not to get too personal, just based on what you've said in the livestreams, you got away from your home environment at 17. Most teens would be scared or very unsure at having to move out at that age (obviously your home environment seemed worse than getting away). A fair amount of teens who were tenacious enough to move out at that age may have given into the temptation to reduce the new uptick in stress and maintenance and go back to their toxic environment because they were used to it. You overcame both. Now you have a new toxic authority figure trying to run you into the ground and saying "Lick the dirt, you piece of shit. Pay $600,000. Know your place." Again, most people, especially the everyday nine-to-five adult, would literally shit their pants at such a predicament. A large number of them would feel helpless, and some would just throw up their hands and say, "That's it, I'm ruined, I can't recover from this. I'm done for and can't get back up again." (And, between you, me and TH-cam, possibly the NSA, I wouldn't doubt that maybe some people higher up the chain just want to see people crumble underneath their boots, both for fun and economic gain). You, too, were also very stressed, there was a noticeable increase in the amount of alcohol consumption on livestream, you were feeling the pressure just like any other adult with a sense of self-respect and responsibility. But you eventually came up with a plan, began following that plan, modified it, got to work, began to iron out the wrinkles, and now, once again, even though certain conditions are shitty and there are still rats in the wall, you got away from your toxic home again, this time the home being New York City and its poorly-ran and totally-not-corrupt government. So, true, you've still got a lot of work ahead of you, you're not out of the woods, but you've made it a helluva lot further than most people would at this point, and in better shape. You acknowledge that shitty things happen to you, but you choose not to be Louis the Helpless Victim. You're Louis the Resilient "Fuck You" Giver when people and circumstances try to drag you down. So kudos, man. Whether nature or nurture (probably both), you're not one who goes easily into that good night. You show people like me and others that it's possible to carve a life out for yourself even when the chips are down and the shit is high.
Whoa. Wait. Do not knock the board repair some of are here because of that. Teaching people to be self sufficient not to rely on another to fix the stuff they own was a blessing. Watching you fight for our right to use the education you provided us, is beyond praise. Much to you, Jessa, and everyone who likes to teach some how something works and how to fix it. Thank you guys. You guys are the real backbone of TH-cam.
Haters gonna’ hate, but Texas is getting a new star! Congratulations, Louis. You’re not just doing what is best for yourself, your business and your employees, you are remaining true to your mission. Your steadfast commitment to reforming tech has given so many of us the push we have needed to stop accepting the status quo. Love you, man. P.S. The cowboys suck. 🤣
Board repair was the biggest reason I watched. Coming from trying to repair things with insufficient tools and preparation, it was refreshing to watch someone make room to do repairs better. Most times you'd start with something not working, and through efficient diagnosis, do the little thing necessary to make it work again.
Finally found FUTO in the description. Yes. I finally read it. As much as I would love to do hardware repair, I'm already more devoted to software and teaching to get into it. I'm more than happy to look into FUTO to see what I could do for them even if I just shill for them. Control over your PC is a great thing and I'm REALLY happy to see a tech billionaire actually advocate for software freedom.
Louis you are a good man. You not only care about our rights to fix our own stuff, you truly care about your employees. Seriously, many would help the talented employees but for the ones that a limited they would just dump. This is an incredible opportunity for you, I’m sure your cats will enjoy the new location. Congratulations.
Thank you Louis for being a great person and giving people that heads up and understanding that nyc is dieing and so willing to help your past imployees get another job. and all the progess with right to repair i have seen so much media cooverage about it. My dad who i admittedly i should talk to more, recently about right to repair because he has been hearing more about it and remebers me talking about it 2-4 years ago.
Welp, there it is. Thanks for sharing the background with your subs and customers. As a customer, I'm genuinely bummed to learn that the Rossman Group will be leaving the city. Your team has gotten me out of a few jams over the years, and I'm not sure where I'll be turning to the next time my kid spills water on my partner's macbook. As a business person in NYC, though, boy do I feel you. I'm not dumb enough to share the particulars in a YT comment, but let's just say that I too have felt first hand that the state and local government are working hard to close Covid related budget shortfalls by knocking on the doors of small businesses. Texas is certainly not my favorite place, but amazing, innovative things are happening there. If your work on right to repair can flourish there, it will show that it's that rarest of issues in this country: something we can all agree on. Godspeed, Louis!
Rooting for you and your financier's cause. I also feel like NYC owes you (and your employees) a livelihood at this point. It's ironic how they've treated someone such as yourself given your goals and the values they claim to espouse.
as someone who repairs for a living Im glad you are doing a great job! Today was my last day for phone repairs. I have now advanced to another company doing solder repairs/CAD and programming mainly from your videos :)
NO Louis you have EVERY right to pat yourself on the back! What you have been able to accomplish is nothing short of life changing for a number of people and businesses and while I am sure others have helped and contributed and of course they deserve a pat on the back as well, you are the face of this awesome movement and deserve the respect of ALL of us! Best of luck to you and your move! Wish more companies had the intestinal fortitude and foresight to leave shit hole states that have done nothing but screw them! The best way to give these worthless states what they deserve are for good people to leave and not look back!
Wow! I might be Danish and be following remotely, but I'm so happy to hear! Considering all your struggles with NY bureaucracy, it should be abundantly clear for everyone who have been watching your videos, that you've made the right decision - not only for your business and your sanity, but also for every consumer of electronics! A huge respect for how far you'll go for your employees and your integrity towards not only them but also Right-to-Repair and yourself. I myself want to say thank you for the work you have been doing for the right to repair, and will be able to do in the future due to this move! Can't wait to see what comes next in the new chapter of your life. You've got this 100%! 💪 I hope you've have a great day and wish you the best of luck!
As a Texan and San Antonio area resident, welcome! I've been watching you for years, you've inspired me to develop myself in IT, look at the things I'm good and bad at, and what I can get better at. I'm still not good at alot of things, but watching your videos always inspires me to learn about the things I don't know and what I can improve on.
You hit it on the head with NH. I'm planning on moving out for the first time in my life after losing my house in a fire. It's beautiful here but too many of the people are closed off and hostile, the social opportunities are nonexistent, everything closes way too early, and to be honest, for such a legally business-friendly state there's almost nothing in the way of opportunity, self-starting, or retail diversity. It's becoming just another collection of national chains just off the exits of interstates and I keep catching myself in a daydream of going to better places. This place has my love, but it's time to move on. Thanks for giving my home state a try, even if it feels like a transit point and not a destination.
Think bigger. Be bigger. Think freedom to do what you want. Go west. The future is west. The East is a has been, all the growth is west of the Rockies. Growth is the future. There is room in the west. Room for you and your ideas...
I don't know if you still look at comments on older videos or not so, you may never see this. But I just wanted to say that I found your channel a few years ago through your board repair videos. I don't own.. nor have ever owned an apple product, yet watching you teach and talk through what you were doing with those boards was one of the more relaxing content streams I have ever come across. Since then I have watched your ongoing struggles with NYC landlords, watched your eventual move of business premises, enjoyed your bike rides throughout the city and of course enjoyed your livestreams and the real content - the cats. When you started the Right to Repair content with attending the hearings I knew that you had already turned a corner. Something different was already on the horizon for you, and as an avid watcher I loved the idea of something different for you. I have.. I must say, been somewhat out of the loop for a while (the loss of my Mother really knocked me out of sync with life), and at this point, but I saw your 'bye' video, which then prompted me to search for and find this video to get an idea as to what is the next step for you, and I have to say I am blown-away proud of all you have achieved so far, and eager to see what you achieve with this new position and your future in Texas. I am fully committed and here for the ride moving forward. You have been a great inspiration to me and I simply wanted to say Thank you. To the future! 🍻
As a fellow Texan, I'd like to extend a, ”Welcome to the lone star state Louis, we're happy to have you here” I hope you take a liking to the place as well. Also. The weather this year has been toasty and a bit drier than normal, but it isn't always that way. Last year the weather was fantastic even all through summer. Looking forward to seeing your shop and attending a workshop when you get set up. I could use a refresher on soldering.
Yeah, Louis, also we have a flaky electric power system during very hot or very cold conditions because our state government doesn't do its job to upgrade it after getting recommendations at least 10 years ago from the last blackout before this recent one...lol
@@eduardocruz4341 That is a silly equivalence. There is no comparison between the two. NYC is a hell hole to anyone who wants to run a business. Electric grid problems are a small inconvenience in comparison.
When you get where you're going, you might check out any "maker" spaces, which have resources for creating and repairing all kinds of things. Partnering up with them might help with workshops.
Louis, I know that my comment probably won't appear on your radar, but I'll write it anyway. I came across your channel one random youtube crawling day many years ago, when you appeared in my suggestions bar; so I can say I came for the board repair, but I have stayed because of your integrity, commitment and sheer quality. R2R is a passion of yours and I am so happy that you are getting to pursue it in this way. I will continue to watch and enjoy on this next chapter you are undertaking!
I am glad you got some backing to help take up this fight for all us that have had no voice in this fight for far too long! THANK YOU for taking up this fight! You are an inspiration and you ARE waking people up to this fight! Keep up the good work! NYC and NY State are sickening pits of authoritarian empowered tyranny.
Honestly, I was thinking that it was only a matter of time before you left NYC after they tried to audit you. I sincerely wish the best for your staff and hope that those who aren't able to come along to Texas will be able to find something else (hopefully outside of NYC), but goddamn it feels good to see you finally take the plunge. Hope this entire process goes smoothly for you.
Welcome to Texas. I am looking forward to be able to attend one of your classes. Much respect to you for showing so much care about your employees. Treating them as human being not just money making tool for your business.
You haven't taken a job, you're living a dream. And not just any dream but YOUR dream! So happy for you and I hope you accomplish your goals for the RTR movement. This truly is awesome to see.
Hey Louis, I've been watching you for a long time now. There is no one more deserving of this than you! I am so happy that you get to start a new chapter of your life without the weight from all the anxiety and BS we saw you battling in NYC. Thanks again for all the repair videos, contractor videos, reality videos and bike rants! Now for Joe Rogan!!!
Paraphrasing you: "I'm not politically compatible with my neighbors" I too live in the Northeast and let me tell you that this is 100% my situation. I just stay for family and relative stability. We're I in your situation (business owner, single and no kids) I'd totally do what you are doing. Maybe not to so hot a climate but definitely would leave the stick up the ass and liking it Northeast.
He is not right wing either, but either way, texas is shifting. He may not like it in 5 years. It is what it is. People who are more anti-government are never going to be happy in a society with a government, despite being enriched by that society. The creator of futo certainly has a interesting twitter account. He goes from praising elon musk for buying twitter to hating him for making self driving cars. It is weird. Louis will probably do well working for someone who is extremely opinionated.
This is awesome. I would just say maybe consider changing this: "FUTO is a new organization founded to develop technology and share knowledge that gives control of computers back to the people."
Louis, I hadn't watched this video for days. But I am glad that I now have. I wanted to point out, that you look so much healthier on this video, than videos of the last 6-8 months (I am a nurse btw). God bless your work, your move and your employees, past, present, and future. I hope you also consider creating a program on how you manage your business. You have been an exemplary employer in my book. Keep up the good work.
Looking forward to your efforts at Futo and wish all the best in moving your business to TX! Thank you for all that you do for right to repair and sharing your knowledge with others.
10 years ago I moved from Spain to Germany with my pregnant wife, 3 cats and a huge 50kg dog. So yes, cats and dogs can travel even in a super regulated place as Europe. Best of luck with the new project from a looong time viewer that really enjoys all your videos.
Moving pets between states is "Put pet in carrier, put carrier in car, drive." It is almost as easy with planes, but airlines can be dangerous to animals. They're treated about as well as guitars.
It's fairly easy to move pets in EU now, you just need a pet passport and what ever vaccines, treatments are required in the country you are moving to. And when you have that done, you just drive/fly/ship to where you want (there are a few countries with extra transit requirements). When I moved my cats the customs officer did not even care to check their passports, and basically "denied" me "declaring" them.
@@IMarvinTPA Airlines suck for pets. Either it's a tiny dog/puppy who can chill under the seat in front of you or it's in a cage w/ all of the luggage.
Louis, thank you for making this video. As I said on a previous comment I live and run a business in Austin so if you have any questions about Austin area anything, please feel free to ask. Keep up the fight against the big a holes and I look forward to your next video (sorry for any typos from my fat fingers in my phone)
I moved from NYC a while back. Only things I'll miss from there are my family and of course my favorite places to eat in. Also you 😎, stay strong and I wish you nothing but the best. I keep learning more from this channel on top of the board repair videos which I know won't change.
Best of luck Louis! I wonder if the cats will be visiting the new store while they live at your new place in Texas. That had brought out some funny situations happening in the store that I quite enjoyed. Plus I think Clinton, Blackberry, and Oreo liked the amount of interaction they were getting while they lived in the store. One thing I do look forward to is Louis ranting about the politics in Texas. I'm sure there are some events that will cause him to respond. And remember the lessons when that cold front hit Texas. Don't buy your electricity at market rates. Because if it spikes due to a shortage of electricity, then the money you saved suddenly evaporates because your electricity bill will suddenly sky rocket. Then make sure your place has heating. And have a battery backup that can last days in case the power goes out.
I started watching your repair videos to learn hot air work or something like that years ago but stayed because you’re funny when talking about the asinine things you have to deal with. God bless you in this new chapter. You’ve always cared more about principle than making money and can figure anything out for yourself. I look forward to seeing you make this happen.
I know there is a lot of change and frustration for your life & company at the moment, but I think this is the start of something amazing - doing the right thing is never easy, but so worth it in the end
I can't see you failing Loius, You have a clear and honest goal with all of this right to repair and your mind is set on it with the help and backing of others, It will happen it's just a matter of time. Good on you for getting off the sinking ship(New York) as well, Moving is never easy on anyone.
louis, i am not a cat owner myself, but have heard that sometimes cats tend to escape from new homes trying to get back to their old home so extra care must be taken to acclimate them to their new kingdom.
That's an insanely rare thing to the point that it's not even something to worry about. And that's mostly if the new place is close to the old one, and if that's cat who mainly lived outside and had habits there (especially if fed by neighbours). Which isn't the case for Louis' ones. Cats mostly look for people (especially the ones who feed them :D) rather than places.
@@PierreMiniggio now you have given me an answer that makes sense! thanks! As stated, I am not a cat owner, but have heard that from multiple people along the years.
Cats are territorial. My cat repeatedly returned to my old home after a move. Granted, it was across town, not from NY to TX. Besides, cats imprisoned in apartments their whole lives wouldn't know anything about geography.
I found you a long time ago when I had a MacBook with some issues. Don't remember what it was now, but I've been following ever since. Stayed for your authenticity and passion for what you do. Looking forward to the next chapter.
I was just recently in Texas and that humidity there is no joke lol. And I'm probably in the minority that watched your channel to learn board repair vs real estate, cats, FU to big tech 😅
I'm assuming you went to Houston (aka the armpit of Texas)? Haha. Up here in Dallas area, we've been ranging between 30% and at best 60% humidity. Currently sitting at 46%. Like in the other comment, depends where you go. PS not criticizing, just sharing info 🙂
YOU DESERVE BETTER. You’re fighting for US! The individual consumer ! Thank you. Some of us appreciate what you are doing . And to you I wish the best of luck.
What a dream job. Getting paid for your life passion. You have been blessed. I'm so happy for you. I would have jumped on this deal of a life time. Your going to do very well in Texas. I wish my retired father even though he's in a rural area would get the hell out of NY. How isnt The right to repair not against my Constitutional rights for the pursuit of happiness. ?? Why am I not free to buy anything and then have to be owned by any company to only use them to service or fix that item. Wow the classes you want to offer would be great for disabled people. !! Not many impress me or I give my respect for but I really respect and appreciate and love what you have done with right to repair. Your also a hell of a bussiness man. Giving only brings back blessing to you. Not many people understand this. But you get it. Again I'm so happy for you your a smart guy and deserve only the best life has to offer.
Louis, good luck with your new endeavours! 👍 No matter where you are, I know you will bring your dedication and honesty and hard work to it, and take us along for the ride with your videos. One day when the "gag order" expires hopefully you will let us know what transpired in NYC that finally made you move. Meanwhile, keep up the great work!
People are asking about your cats because sadly there is a habit among some seemingly normal individuals of just dumping their cats or dogs when moving. So it's a relief for many to know you're not one of those. Don't hurt asking, you know.
I may not learn something all the time, but your positive attitude, the way your go forward and the way you express yourself pleases me, so hope your next phase go well and hope to see you again with your new project and wish you success a lot. Sorry for my english and maybe my way of expressing, i do appreciate and looking forward to here from you. Thank's being there.
I'm surprised you managed to keep a shop running in New York all this time with the pandemic! Best of luck to you, the kitties, and all the employees on this business transition! Only thing I can say about Texas is to make sure your new office is prepared for spontaneously-occurring cold weather and planned blackouts!
I'm so glad for you! I strongly believe in your abilities to help force manufacturers to change their attitude toward us, customers. For me personally, the following issues seem important: - helpless customer service. If you ask for some more technical details that are not present in their product descriptions, the answer often is "Sorry, I'm not authorized to tell you this information". There seems to be no way for a "mere mortal" person to contact an engineer or anyone with direct access to the product! I myself am a visually handicapped programmer and I have very specific requirements for a PC monitor. During the last 20 years when choosing a new monitor, I have contacted a few manufacturers and asked some technical questions that can be answered by a person who has physical access to their monitors and could do some quick checks for me. Well, it turns out that support people don't have physical access to their products, so there's nobody who could help me. Maybe if I was a VIP buying 1000 devices at once... - companies denying their mistakes. When browsing the internet, you might notice some products with a large number of complaints about a single defect. When you visit some service forums, you also see service men talking about receiving many devices with the same defect. However, when you contact customer support, the answer often is "We don't know anything about this, there is no recall and no free replacement for this defect". I wish there was an authoritative defect registry. If 10 000 people complain about the same defect then the manufacturer would be legally forced to acknowledge the problem and take some action. Just dreaming.
The last point sounds amazing, because it's exactly what's needed. Regulation! American corporations since Reagan have been touting that regulation is bad, but central solutions like these work. Not allowing companies to censure their faults-because there's a public registry-would help companies be held accountable.
I’m happy for Louis. Like the saying “another door closed and another one open” I wish the best with your new endeavors Louis. I will keep coming back for your contents and updates.
i guess i had the right feeling in that the store had a tough time actually being profitable even though you offer excellent services, i just couldnt find the math in my head to work with NYC being on top of you, moving out was literally a move of survival.
Wish you success in Texas Louis! I fully support your mission and I don't give a crap about your politics while you're righting the good fight. Granted, that's probably an easy thing for me because I've seen you call bullshit on Democrat and Republican alike over the years, and at this point I've got the same attitude-but it was pretty easy to do even when I didn't have the same attitude because you've always made it clear that when you were doing right to repair stuff, that's where your focus was and anything you had to say about politicians or political situations was going to be focused on that. Beyond that, your opinion was your own, and you never asked people to agree with you or vote the way you did or not tell you that they thought you were full of shit on some issue they disagreed with you on. I've always found that respectable.
Louis i have been following since you were a small youtuber. Everyone likes you because u are real in this world of corrupt and fake people. we are so happy you keep spilling your thoughts and see you progress in life. I hope you have a good time in Austin Texas en keep is informed about everything you fight for, believe in and evolve trough. Keep it up brother you are an inspiration to millions(literally) of us. You da goat greetz from belgium
I think this might be painful for the time being, but hopefully not. However, even if it sucks for now, I think you'll figure it out, you always have, and eventually you'll find it was the right decision. Thank you for everything Louis. I wish you the best.
Welcome to Texas my friend. I moved here from the upper MidWest in 2015 and I love it. I believe in your work and your mission! I hope to be able to attend your workshops on circuit repair & soldering. If you ever need any help in Houston, send me note.
Louis: As a fellow Texan, allow me to welcome you to this Great state. Your choosing to come here is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Dave in Lubbock, Tx. ETA - fellow cat lover, retired electronics tech, and fan of your TH-cam channel. Keep up the great teaching!
I wish you well, but am sad to see you go. I hope you don't move only to find that it was not NYC, it's the United States and you find these same problems elsewhere. Good luck.
Thank you! Customers like you made every hassle and hagle of running a small business all worth it. I hope the best for you and your family!

How big are the chances for this stunt? (Or did I miss it?)

Give some electronics, arduino, anything a go! You might enjoy it. Doesn't have to be highly technical macbooks.
Same here, hes very well at speaking and puts things 2gether very well! This guy opened me eyes to things i don't really think of being a issue! Hope Louis the best and hope he and those like him get this all squared away!

Its because he's been on the other end of shitty employers himself and he's determined to do better.
@@kennichdendenn Unions are a cesspool of corruption.

Is FUTO "Fuck You Tech Oligopoly"? That's amazing
I'm not confirming or denying this. Whenever I bring this up I get a smirk and nothing else.
AT least they didn't go in with the FUTA acronym.
@@AC3handle It would make search results more interesting.
I wonder if Louis made as much money as these tech oligopoly companies that he'd just be running Yet Another Tech Oligopoly Company.
As a Canadian, I used FUTO back in the 1980's to label my Move to Vancouver BC. At that time it meant, F U Toronto to me!
Let it be known. NYC is Losing Louis Rossmann... That is bad. Here's to Louis doing great things where he can more freely do so!!
and here's to NYC losing a very good man... They can't afford him, and they don't deserve him. My only hope is that the people he leaves behind can be just as succesful if not more so.
Arizona welcomes Louis with open arms. Life is better here and there's plenty of macbooks at our Universities :D
I've seen no less than 5 national comments on various sites about Louis leaving....that's impact.
Say "Mac repair guy", and scores of people will think of Louis. He has been a Schelling point of laptop repair.
I don't know, he seems to care more about the money than the people during the pandemic.

I’m insanely excited for you and I can tell you’re making a move towards something that genuinely excites you.
Serendipity.
A Beautiful word.
A Beautiful thing.
Congratulations Louis :)
Agreed
I totally agree with you, people can only take so much crap before they say enough is enough
Indeed. I think Louis can quite honestly say "Sorry NYC, it's not me, it's you!"
It’s amazing how so many people continue to support those leftist policies.
"range days" could also be used to relieve stress against electronic devices that refuse to revive and/or have been abandoned by their former owners.
Clinton too of course).
i agree with this
Yes we love Louis because we feel connected to him.
Businesses are dying." We not missing the season 4!

Granted Austin Tx is way better than NYC, however, many would agree its the shti hole of Texas!
@@kingforaday8725 but thats only because of the people that keep moving there...
What 600,000 usd?

Board repair was the biggest reason I watched. Coming from trying to repair things with insufficient tools and preparation, it was refreshing to watch someone make room to do repairs better. Most times you'd start with something not working, and through efficient diagnosis, do the little thing necessary to make it work again.

This is INCREDIBLE news. Good on ya Louis! Welcome to the great state of TEXAS!
As a fellow Texan, I'd like to extend a, ”Welcome to the lone star state Louis, we're happy to have you here”
I hope you take a liking to the place as well. Also. The weather this year has been toasty and a bit drier than normal, but it isn't always that way. Last year the weather was fantastic even all through summer. Looking forward to seeing your shop and attending a workshop when you get set up. I could use a refresher on soldering.
Yet many move to Texas and still vote for the party that caused them to flee.
Yeah, Louis, also we have a flaky electric power system during very hot or very cold conditions because our state government doesn't do its job to upgrade it after getting recommendations at least 10 years ago from the last blackout before this recent one...lol
@@eduardocruz4341 And still its better than the New yorkean dystopia.
@@kinsmart7294 you just trade one dystopia for a different one...lol
@@eduardocruz4341 That is a silly equivalence. There is no comparison between the two. NYC is a hell hole to anyone who wants to run a business. Electric grid problems are a small inconvenience in comparison.
When you get where you're going, you might check out any "maker" spaces, which have resources for creating and repairing all kinds of things. Partnering up with them might help with workshops.
They're building one from the ground up.
I’m so incredibly happy for you re: your new position and the team relocating with you for RRG. New beginnings are so exciting.
Welcome to Texas. I am looking forward to be able to attend one of your classes. Much respect to you for showing so much care about your employees. Treating them as human being not just money making tool for your business.
Texas welcomes you! Thanks for giving us the update, it was great to hear as a lot of these things I could sense were going on.
You haven't taken a job, you're living a dream. And not just any dream but YOUR dream! So happy for you and I hope you accomplish your goals for the RTR movement. This truly is awesome to see.
"I'm open to a new set of problems"
Wow. What an interesting and optimistic point of view. I like this way of thinking.
Paraphrasing you: "I'm not politically compatible with my neighbors"
I too live in the Northeast and let me tell you that this is 100% my situation.
Haha sounds easy. Try to get your animal into Japan.
All the best for your new job and new projects! I'm rooting for you
Welcome to Texas. Look forward to the day I can visit your new shop.
Best luck in this next chapter of your life, Louis. I'm happy for you, man. Whatever good comes from these changes, it is deserved. Take care.
With all the “employers” leaving NYC and NY state, that’s fewer businesses to spread these “fees” across.
Looking forward to seeing you in Texas. I always have projects that need repair and I need a place to learn.
Good on you for getting off the sinking ship(New York) as well, Moving is never easy on anyone.
louis, i am not a cat owner myself, but have heard that sometimes cats tend to escape from new homes trying to get back to their old home so extra care must be taken to acclimate them to their new kingdom.
cats are bound to their owners, not the place.
@@t0raneko cats are persons
Good Luck. Thanks for improving the world, passing along your knowledge
I found you a long time ago when I had a MacBook with some issues. Don't remember what it was now, but I've been following ever since. Stayed for your authenticity and passion for what you do. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Don't forget to get your windows tented depending on where in Texas you move to. It's super hot down here in the south.
I was just recently in Texas and that humidity there is no joke lol. And I'm probably in the minority that watched your channel to learn board repair vs real estate, cats, FU to big tech 😅
That means literally zero warranty repairs by Apple, 100% "water detector tripped" rejections and as result more business for Louis.
Texas is a big state. It ranges from desert dry to island humid. It's all about where you go.
Humidity in much of Texas is nowhere near as bad as Florida!
@@GeorgeVCohea-dw7ou True, south east Texas is pretty humid, but Austin doesn’t hold a wet candle to Louisiana and further east on the coast
I’m happy for you Louis. Hope the next chapter of your life goes well.
People are asking about your cats because sadly there is a habit among some seemingly normal individuals of just dumping their cats or dogs when moving. So it's a relief for many to know you're not one of those. Don't hurt asking, you know.
1:08am "I'm making a change."
Good luck and I wish you a blooming and prosperous business in Texas Louis! You already have a strong brand, Texas is lucky to have your service!
Perfectly explained, all my inner questions got answered. You're awesome, Louis, and I know you'll do good in whatever lies ahead!
Good job getting out, we did not own a business, we left in 2019 when the first shortages started. Glad you made it. You are better than NY.
I'm so glad for you! I strongly believe in your abilities to help force manufacturers to change their attitude toward us, customers.
For me personally, the following issues seem important:
- helpless customer service.
This channel is successful because of your attitude and drive its contagious and inspiring, ill be here backseat for the ride.
The real question we want to know is: will there be a rossman realty texas edition?
So happy for you Louis. You look and sound happy. We watch for you, not for bikes, not for board repair, we are here for your journey.
Good luck man! You are the only person I trust in the world, to do what you're doing, and you're gonna fucking nail it!
