      Right, I'm gonna give you some advice that will either save you money or your life. The AC remote has two red buttons. One of them turns it on for 1 hour (一時間) and the other one stops the AC (止). However, the stop button makes the AC go indefinitely. You know when I figured this out? It was right at the end when I had to pay the final electricity bill and the staff told me my electricity bill was really low. So, don't be like me and freeze to death because you only ever press the 1 hour button repeatedly. Well, at least I did my part to fight global warming (by freezing myself), so that's a plus.

    Wow, I really like your videos of NUPACE. I actually had my application accepted by Nupace but the status for the funding from JASSO is still a nominee. But I am now waiting for the announcement to get the JASSO Scholarships from Nupace and I am expecting to come to Japan and have my student exchange in March 2022. This video helps me a lot to have an early view of how people going to live in Japan! I am now really excited to go there 😁

      Hey! I am happy to hear you got accepted to NUPACE, as well as that you are enjoying the videos! Best of luck to you as well on hopefully landing that JASSO scholarship! But nevertheless, I hope you'll have an awesome time over at Nagoya University. I know I did ;)

    Hi man, I love your videos and cheers from Indonesia. I will come there in April. I have a question: are you allowed to smoke in the balcony/small terrace of your dorm? And is there a smoking area in the campus? Cheers!

    • @TheRedValue
      @TheRedValue  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoy them bro!
      Regarding the smoking, I'm not too sure about smoking areas on campus, can't recall there being any tbh. You will also not be allowed to smoke on the balcony of the dorm. Nevertheless, you saw the building next to the dorm? There is a smoking area at the entrance to be used at your leisure :)
      Wishing you greatest enjoyment on your stay there. You are about to have one of the best times of your life over there, so go and look forward to it man :D

    Hey! I am going to NUPACE this September and just wanted to ask if the dormitory is divided by sexes? (I mean that the building is divided to male and female floors). Since I want to invite my fiancee during the year abroad to visit me. Are students allowed to invite guests? This is a very important question for me. Thank you!

    • @TheRedValue
      @TheRedValue  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So as far as I was aware of there wasn't a real seperation between sexes at the Higashiyama Dorm. I did saw some sort of clustering of genders though. Girls/Boys seemed to generally live closer to each other. So this isn't really a problem.
      The real problem here though is, is that you are not allowed to have guests stay overnight at any of the dorms. Yamate North even forbids guests at all, Higashiyama is more lenient here. But overnight staying is out of the question (if its for a night noone would really mind, but multiple days would definitely catch people's attention).
      There are Double-Bedrooms available in Higashiyama residence for a higher price. I'm not sure whether or not this is designed for having guests over or only long-term residents. Depending on how long your fiancee visits you, you might consider these as an option.
      Anyways, I hope you enjoy your time at NUPACE. I had an absolutely wonderful time there myself and can only recommend going there! Definitely wanting to return to Japan ASAP!

    Hey, love the video. In a few week's time, I'll be joining NUPACE. A bit sad that I wasn't allocated the Higashiyama Dorm. Really wanted the private kitchen. Anyway, do you happen to know what the Ohmeikan Dorm is like? Just slightly concerned about the shared kitchen after reading a reddit post from 10 years ago

    • @TheRedValue
      @TheRedValue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm somewhat jealous of you now. Going to Japan was the best time of my life and I'm sure you'll have an absolute blast too. From others I could gather that Ohmeikan wasn't as desirable as the other dorms, but no way near as bad as that Reddit Post (yes I know of that one also 😉).

      @@TheRedValue Heyyy, I guess that makes me feel a little bit better haha. Do you happen to know the pros/cons of Ohmeikan, not that that I can change it or anything, just curious 😃 Keen for making new friends tho. Also, with clubs and societies, do they tend to easily accept us foreigners? (My Japanese is probably only N4 level unfortunately)

      It really depends on what you want from it and what your other current options are.
      From a financial perspective, if you live in Europe it's probably not worth it.
      However, if you want to live in Japan afterwards, studying there is one of the easiest paths to residency.
      Feel free to hit me up if you want me to elaborate more.
