You brought me here from Reddit. Even as a native, I'll keep myself subscribed not only to support you for the TH-cam algorithm but also because I genuinely enjoy your videos.

Υπέροχο και πολύ ενδιαφέρον βίντεο! Είμαι ο ίδιος Έλληνας, συμφωνώ με πολλά από αυτά που είπες! Η Ελληνική γλώσσα και το αλφάβητο μοιάζουν πολύ με τα Ρωσικά γλώσσα. Είμαι πολύγλωσσος, οπότε μπορώ να το πω αυτό. Ξέρω και τις δύο γλώσσες. Οι Ρώσοι το πήραν από τους Έλληνες.

1:33 You may find it interesting that this was going on in Classical Athens. There was an Athenian subdialect in the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. where έψιλον was converged with ιώτα, in an extreme case of early iotacism! Here is an excellent video that presents this topic that is seldom studied about Ancient Greek (in this case Classical Attic) pronunciation: th-cam.com/video/TBIZ2WRfAgY/w-d-xo.html

Ευχαριστώ! Your tips are really useful. I remember how I started to learn italian year ago and I desperately wanted to say italian words so I kept inserting in my speech the word "allora" while speaking russian and english :)) Filler words are dangerous, now I might use εντάξει instead of ok :)
    Καλή συνέχεια!

@Linguatree - Great video! Thank you! FYI, at 5:19, you pronounce "apostrophe" like it sounds in French, with 3 syllables and a silent -e at the end.
That was probably just a momentary lapse of awareness. As you may know already, it actually has all 4 syllables in English /əˈpɑːs.tɹə.fi/.
The English pronunciation is closer to Modern Greek, if not for the stress on the 2nd syllable :)

Having an English accent is a conversation killer, not a conversation opener. Everyone below the age of 60 wants to practice their English and will do their absolute utmost to avoid speaking Greek - even if their English is far worse than your Greek.
