hey teacher, I'm a brazilian student and I like your classes so much. Your accent is so beautiful and so clear. Thanks a lot for the classes they are amazing. God bless you.
I'm really happy to find you among millions of learning channels 😊 your way of explanation is just amazing, easy to get and undoubtedly useful for all learners! Thanks for that😊 good luck!
Sir, you are probably the best teacher I have ever met in my life coz ur way of teaching is just awesome...I am not a native English speaker then also I understood each and every word you spoke while teaching unlike Hollywood movies which are so irritating to understand for a non-native person but they could also be understood by practicing... Thank you...
A good trick to improve your hearing comprehension is to put on a native English movie with the English subtitles on. It will probably help with your reading comprehension as well. I usually recommend animated Disney movies because they are usually translated well and into the widest variety of languages, so you can watch them in your own language and understand the story. Then when you watch it in English with English subtitles, you know what's going on. Animated movies also don't have junk in the audio to make it hard to hear, characters rarely speak at the same time, and the pronunciation is clearer. And they won't have things you don't need to know like cussing and antiquated words/phrases. Most Disney movies also have pretty catchy tunes, so you can practice your own pronunciation by singing along. BTW when Americans and Canadians say "Disney movies" we are almost always referring exclusively to the animated ones.
I came here totally random and was even more confused at the beginning. Then Adam said a few example and I was like "Oh, I say it like this all the time." Good lesson! Sadly I already are through learning english. I should've known this side a few years ago!
Hey Rose whats up ? This is Orin Here, from Bangladesh. I am trying to improve my spoken skill but it is so hard to practice it without any partner. Wanna to be my partner ? my skype id "orin.shaim"
Wow :) I enjoyed this lesson! I'm only 14 and I'm arabic and I talk like a native speaker because of my friend..She's from canada so she come by and I talk to her everyday in English so that's helped me so much! Thanks for the vid! I'm totally gonna subscribe you.
I dont have to go to school to take English as a secondary language I can watch it on TH-cam by free and without going nowhere . Thanx all people who tried to help our English to improve
Very useful lesson for non-native speakers! I've been learning English since I was, like 8, and have proficiency diplomas etc and yet, have not realised some of those tricks!!
Thanks Adam. I am an ESL student and wish I could have had someone like you to teach me speak, so I didn't need to suffer from speaking bad English for so long.
It took me six years to learn how to pronounce english. The thing is that I keep thinking in spanish and whenever I speak or write I use a lot of my native lenguage... I need to practice more!!
Sarahi Gomez I'm from latin america and luckily started learning english since I was barely 4 so even though Im not continually studying or practicing I have a great pronunciation. Had a job as a teacher once also
Lee la Biblia y escucha sermones bíblicos y también beautiful eulogy , a mi me tomo 1 año en dominar el inglés gracias a la Biblia y a predicadores como matt chandler, the bible it's the most amazing libro ever written :)
He is an excellent teacher, I am beginning to understand why I am such a poor speller, however, he is clearly not a native speaker, or at least doesn’t sound like one if he is acting as if he isn’t.
I'm studying at a Teachers' Training College , and we usually practice this in phonology( it really helps us!).But I have to confess something...you make it easier!! Thanks a lot!!🤗
Native English speaker here, and I just want to point out to the people trying to learn English: His point about connecting consonants and dropping the sound of the last letters is only somewhat true. He made it seem like we completely drop those sounds in speech, when really they become less pronounced, not always dropped. And this is only true for very fast speech, if you're talking at a normal pace, we would still say "What do you do?" not "wha do you do" He's still right, but I wanted to throw that out there so non-native speakers don't go around saying "bla coffee" in restaurants.
+Paige Boda Good post. It's all context, isn't it? If i'm saying for example 'What do you do if your car fails to start?!' I would probably say 'Wha ja do if ya car fails t start.' But if i was saying 'What do you do?' as in asking someone what their job is i will just say 'What do you do?' like normal. Best way absolutely is to listen to native speakers speaking naturally. Naturally is so important. Speech from pre-recorded audio from books etc is usually not natural.
Hi Adam, nice to meet you, my name is Juan, from Spain, and I really am delighted following your clases here, I only wanted to say thanks to you, for being so skilful and precise when it comes to teach anything.
Great video! I just discovered it a few days ago and now I love your channel. It allows me to learn lots of new stuff related to native accent and phrasal verbs, sometimes it turns out to be very helpful to analyze what native speakers do instead of just listening to them talk... thank you very much for sharing this content Adam! You really rock at this lessons, greetings from Bolivia
Very useful video, I'm italian and I'll never get rid of my native accent, but it's not a problem because I'm proud of it; what matters the most is being as clear as possible, I'm working on it and slowly improving.
These are 3 of the thousands reasons why spoken English is so different than the written. Thank you so much! Now I can say «this is an inchresting video» correctly xD
I can't believe an 8-minute video taught clearer than 7 years of school. I mean, sure. School is important but damn if a short video can do it within eight minutes, why can't they? Or maybe because Filipino schools have a different curriculum than the others? I don't know man. I, myself, question my own nationality.
Stop blaming our curriculum. English are divided into two; Language and Literature. Don't tell me you've learned all of those in just 8 mins comparing ur 7 yrs in school.
He's not even a native speaker lol. If you listen closely you can see that he pronunciates certain words with a Latin a accent. Like the word ok. He says the o like you would in Spanish and it he pronunciates it like o-k-ehy
Good evening Adam. First of all, thanks for these three tips u talk in the video. Although is an interesting information, I think u should specify that u're trying to teach AMERICAN ENGLISH, because this people who's from Europe, Asia or Africa and is getting english lessons, they usually are going to learn BRITISH ENGLISH. I mean, what u're trying to teach to others that want to improve their (american) english level is surely very usefull; you know, for those people who lives in America (I'm talking about the whole continent; Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Cuba...), but for the rest of them... well, I'm afraid that these particular tips could cost them dear.
Hola N.C:S, gracias por esta información. Yo estudio en la escuela oficial de idiomas ingles (A-2) y me enseñan ingles británico. Sabes de vídeos de youtube interesantes para mi nivel, que enseñen ingles británico? Y también de paginas realmente buenas con las que poder practicar speaking? muchas gracias!.
Also we don't talk like this in Canada, it's JUST the US that gets lazy like that. Basically everywhere I have been the norm is to speak clearly and concisely, speaking in the front of the mouth, with the United States being an exception, slurring their words and speaking from the back of their mouths.
Silatuyok The confusion in the comments section of these videos comes from the fact that Adam is either (1)not a native English speaker, or (2)speaks with an obscure rural accent that almost no one can seem to identify. For a more even representation of what "American" English sounds like, watch American news channels. The majority of the newscasters will speak with a fairly neutral American English accent or a neutral accent with a hint of the region they are from. Nevertheless, it's more important that someone learns to speak clearly, accurately, and fluently than to use a specific accent or to "mimic" a native speaker. The best way to gradually learn the subtleties, mannerisms, and usage of slang by native English speakers (which varies by region, ethnicity, and culture)is by immersing yourself in an environment where you'll have to regularly practice your English speaking in a variety of situations with first language speakers.
@@teacherfromthejungles6671 Non-natives know grammar a lot better than many native speakers, but native speakers are generally better at pronunciation and vocabulary. Many times the problem is with the student.
I work in the airport in Madrid so I have a decent level of English and use it daily lol sometimes even more than Spanish if I attend like an US /UAE flight but after a while if if have a long conversation with an annoying persistent passenger my tongue and face start to hurt it is like I am not used to move those muscle for longer than 5 minutes . It is weird I sound pretty murican for the first 5 minutes then my accent goes all bad Russian mafia guy I am from Romania and though it is a Latin language still after a while speaking most of us start to sound like cliche Russian mobsters :)))
George Bogdan you’re right.. I work in a restaurant where we have a huge amount of customers waiting in a long line so after an hour of taking orders in the register I have to switch with someone else because my mount hurts. I’m Spanish native speaker
Fascinating.. I'm English speaking, born in England, and what you are saying is quite correct. I've never thought about it, just done all those things you describe. English is a nightmare language. Glad I'm not trying to learn it. Good luck and best wishes, from me to those who are!
Lol Yeah it is! English pronunciation is really different from my mother tongue. In my case, all the Spanish words sound exactly like they are written. I mean, all the vowels, consonants, syllables and so on. All of them have always the same sounds. However, in English, all the words have their own sound and that is quite random for us. Despite this, I like it. English is really trendy and actually it fits lazy people like me because you can say a lot of things with a few sentences (Those who know Spanish will understand what I mean :v )
English is decently easy to learn :D I'm just thinking about what a nightmare it must be to learn all the genders for every german word... they DO NOT make any sense but are important for the rest of the sentence and if you don't grow up with them, even after Years and Years of living in Germany it's still hard E.g. line is female, pants is female, dress is male, skirt is neutral, girl is neutral, tree is male, sky is male, cloud is female, animal is neutral, dog is male, cat is female, horse is neutral, and so on... I feel so sorry for anyone having to learn that and it is one of the very few things I still sometimes accidentally do in English... saying sentences like "nice tree, he's really tall" or "have you found the fork? Can you give her to me" which sound super super wrong in English :D
Alex Krause Very true! I'm learning German and I find the gender case extremely tricky and confusing! like, shouldn't all animals have a neutral article??? 😵 but I love it anyways! it's the language of my ancestors and my goal is to be able to read "Werther" in German...maybe in couple of years! lol
I'm glad I'm Norwegian because that´s hell of a hard language (the reason is that we don't even have a definition of what Norwegian is, two written languages, ten thousands different ways to speak it, because depending on where you live you use different grammar and vocabulary). English is easier than Spanish. Maybe because both Norwegian and English is germanic languages and Spanish is latin? Idk, it's just so hard.
i wanna speak like a native speaker because it sounds so cool!! i want to study abroad thats why i should know it well.Whenever i watch english movies i m like me : hey ,what dd she just say? sis:i dont know lets rewind. after rewinding me : did you understand? sis : lets play the video in slow after playing in slow me : do it have eng sub sis:lets watch something else
I'm Vietnamese. I really like watching your channel. And, you are a good English teacher. You explain English grammar that is easy to understand. Thanks so much
Good video but the description fails to explain where this speaker is from. 3 tips for sounding like a native speaker from where? Did you mean to replicate the Standard American English? There are many ways of speaking English with various different accents and variations and they are all correct within their area of origin.
I speak a little like that without knowing wow! I learned most of my English from listening to songs since childhood perhaps my English is natural picked language of ear 😃.
lol my mother tongue is not english but I learned English with good teachers. So sometimes i sound a little bit like a Native speaker. But my german accent is always there XD.

It's actually dump for a native speakers to brag about their native way of speaking 😂
this is way more interesting than school

Absolutely!

He is an excellent teacher, I am beginning to understand why I am such a poor speller, however, he is clearly not a native speaker, or at least doesn’t sound like one if he is acting as if he isn’t.

Thanks a lot!!🤗
Thank you for your help, and god be with you to increase your knowledge.
Native English speaker here, and I just want to point out to the people trying to learn English:
His point about connecting consonants and dropping the sound of the last letters is only somewhat true. He made it seem like we completely drop those sounds in speech, when really they become less pronounced, not always dropped. And this is only true for very fast speech, if you're talking at a normal pace, we would still say "What do you do?" not "wha do you do"
He's still right, but I wanted to throw that out there so non-native speakers don't go around saying "bla coffee" in restaurants.
Speech from pre-recorded audio from books etc is usually not natural.
blah blah coffee, please
Hahahahaha thanks it really sounds weird to say bla coffee!! ...No way I will say it !! LOL
Blah does not sound the same as the bla in black. It does make sense when he says it. Blah is like August and Bla is like attic.
Paige Boda blah blah blah to anyone trying to learn English it didn't matter if it sounds good as long as we somewhat understand
I love the way he teaches;it's so captivating and fun.❤️
Yeah, you're right.

I can't believe an 8-minute video taught clearer than 7 years of school. I mean, sure. School is important but damn if a short video can do it within eight minutes, why can't they? Or maybe because Filipino schools have a different curriculum than the others?
I don't know man. I, myself, question my own nationality.
Is English not your first language? That was great
lol
Stop blaming the school. Learning English isn't only acquired in schools. You need to practice it yourself.
Stop blaming our curriculum. English are divided into two; Language and Literature. Don't tell me you've learned all of those in just 8 mins comparing ur 7 yrs in school.
Same in Hungary.
One of the best lessons I have heard. Clear explanation .👌👌👌
You are best teacher. Thank you for your help!
He's not even a native speaker lol. If you listen closely you can see that he pronunciates certain words with a Latin a accent. Like the word ok. He says the o like you would in Spanish and it he pronunciates it like o-k-ehy
Subtle things that give it away.
I’ve been speaking like this without even knowing I’m correct. I’m just lazy to speak 😂
It was a very useful information! thanks!

First time watching your video and found it really helpful
Hi
First time watching your video and found it really helpful
L.O. V yo entro a Englishaula.com y es muy buena hay de todos los ejercicios y niveles, te la recomiendo.
You're the greatest English teacher I seen in my life. Thank you.

Fascinating.. I'm English speaking, born in England, and what you are saying is quite correct. I've never thought about it, just done all those things you describe. English is a nightmare language. Glad I'm not trying to learn it. Good luck and best wishes, from me to those who are!
RideFlame bloody redemption xD.
English is decently easy to learn :D I'm just thinking about what a nightmare it must be to learn all the genders for every german word... they DO NOT make any sense but are important for the rest of the sentence and if you don't grow up with them, even after Years and Years of living in Germany it's still hard
E.g. line is female, pants is female, dress is male, skirt is neutral, girl is neutral, tree is male, sky is male, cloud is female, animal is neutral, dog is male, cat is female, horse is neutral, and so on... I feel so sorry for anyone having to learn that and it is one of the very few things I still sometimes accidentally do in English... saying sentences like "nice tree, he's really tall" or "have you found the fork? Can you give her to me" which sound super super wrong in English :D
Alex Krause
Very true!
