I read this first while it was on the NY Times Bestseller list, and i have gotten to the point where I can open it to any page and be swept right back into the story. My #1 favorite story ever!

Every time I finish a Barker book I come to your channel to find a retrospective video about it. I always enjoy your thoughts on each of them.
Just finished Imajica and I assumed your video about it would be like 2 hour long essay haha.
Weaveworld is still my #1 from all the Barker books I've read so far. Imajica nearly dethroned it. A fantastic book and it's definitely Barker's magnum opus.
I have so many things I want to say about this book, but I'll let my thoughts first organize everything and then post it on GoodReads next week in a review.

I only discovered Clive Barker's work relatively recently. Imajica blew me away. And this is the best review of it I have ever encountered.

I read Imajica in hardcover when it was brand new at my little local bookshop in Santa Monica. Absolutely loved it! What an amazing story. So original, so wild, and yet believable. A work of genius. I'd love to see an epic HBO series based on this.

Came across this book back in the 90's when I was travelling across India. Best book I've ever read.

This is my favorite book. It's the first I ever read of Clive Barker. I was lucky to have come across it in my college library.

Great review again. It's a good point not to start with this one. Weaveworld was my first and I was completely enamoured with it. I'm not sure I was ready for this one. I absolutely loved the characters and the worlds he created but I think I just got lost in the depths. It's still such a powerful experience to read but probably one I need to go back to for the full scope.

I didn't much care for this book with my initial read, however the the 2nd read is an absolute joy because of the way the ideas in this book work

Awesome review. My favorite Barker book. It's funny for me that you say not to read this first, it was the first one I read at age 14. Took forever (all of sophomore year) but I've read it about ten times since. It made me want to read more. Second would be Galilee. Third Abarat (did you review those?).

Galilee is great. Ever tried Weaveworld? Another joy.

I'm totally a fan of yours! I think you're brilliant! And I don't give that out lightly. Because I like to think that I'm brilliant too! LOL. But you my friend are definitely so. And I love that you love Clive Barker.

Hey man, great review. I've been interested in reading this for some time, and it would be my first Barker novel. So far, I've only read the first volume of his books of blood, which I thought was decent. Also, that short story collection of yours looks interesting, I might check it out.

I'm struggling with this book & I really wanted to love it. 😭 I'm on page 244 - do I persevere or give it up as a bad job?

8@@Jotkah26 I persevered & it was good! It could've been better, & 2 years on I can't remember the whole story/ending, but I remember thinking it was good 🤣 Sorry, that's really not very helpful is it?

@@Jotkah26 Yes, it definitely didn't need to be that long. A lot of unnecessary padding, I do think it could've been shortened & it would've been a much easier read. & I'm no stranger to very long books, as long as said books don't get boring so this isn't a me being lazy thing!

Love Clive Barker, like your review, (can't stand the lengthy self promo nor care for the constant hair flicking.) I can't believe I wrote this... Thanks and sorry.
