    My journey evolved!
    What a difference a year makes, living full-time in a 21’ camper van.
    See the modifications I made to my 2019 Winnebago Travato 59GL, and see how I live in each of the “four rooms” in my Travato. I share some demos also.
    KEY LEARNINGS from my first year of full-time living and working in my RV:
    - Slow down the pace
    - It is really about life experienced in a different way, the RV way
    - Get rid of stuff, you need less than you think
    - Floor plan matters a lot, but don’t obsess over the RV; just get on the road!
    - RV is a tool to go and learn, to grab your RV freedom

      Not new to RVing but new to Class B. The rest of the story requires your favorite beverage around a fire sit chat. We will pick up “Mack” as soon as factory ready Jun/Jul then head back to our daughter to pick up our “stuff” left here after selling our Silverado (our RV still in Florida). We hope to then do the Utah circle of National Parks before winter sets in. No solid plans, staying flexible. Will email as well, Rhonda

      I have for the past three years researched, watched TH-cam videos talked with dealers and test drove several class C & B RVs. Thor, Jayco, Fleetwood, Pleasure-Way, Airstream, just to name a few. Like you, I had determined I did not want to deal with diesel. After test driving several class C RVs I decided that I wanted a rig that was small and could take anywhere. Talking with my dealer, test driving the Travato and watching your channel helped me decide on the GL.

    Mentioned rhe water inlet since we used to have a rialta which had a locking door over the water inlet
    Seems that there is probably an aftermarket cap available similar to locking gas caps available somewhere
    We also do some off roading on dirt roads ocassionally where road side service isn’t abailable and will probably start carrying a spare on the roof since I’m concerned about the wt of a spare tire on the rear door and hinges

    Scott, my man as you know the Travato GL model was very high on my list primary for the Pure3 Energy System. However, I am looking to plan to purchase a used Pleasure Way Lexor FL instead. However, I have always and will continue to be a FAN of you and your travels. I consider you one of pioneers of van travel and hope to meet you some day. Your presentation and photography are beyond compare. The Travato seems so large, I think you could turn it into a duplex . Thank you Scott. Do your windows ever leak? If so, how did you fix it?

    • @gosmall.livelarge
      @gosmall.livelarge  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the compliments Rag Top. Yeah, in the last few months have had issues on windows and roof leaks. Have videos coming up about those two issues. Have you experienced leaks?

    • @nbragtop
      @nbragtop 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gosmall.livelarge Yes I have leaks on 4 of my 6 acrylic windows.. On my T, water is leaking in around the lever closures and following a tiny groove in the black rubber. There are 2 levels of tightness that the levers can be placed in and a small ridge separating the two. I put my lever on the higher ridge and it stopped the leak except for one window. I cut long narrow strips of chamois cloth to lay in the lower window sill to check and absorb the water. The windows on my T seem to need to be pulled in tighter. My T is new and the dealer is prepared to remove and reinstall the windows after this coronavirus is over. Thank you and please be safe!

    • @gosmall.livelarge
      @gosmall.livelarge  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nbragtop Good to know. Bummer about your experience. My experience was more from the exterior caulk/sealant material getting brittle and maybe a little wave-type "bend" in the sheet metal where the van was cut to have the window installed. All this will be covered in an upcoming video from my experience and repairs. Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Scott! I am watching this video for the second (third?) time. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2021 Natl Parks Lmtd Edition Travato - but what has changed is the layout. I love love love the huge fridge and freezer in the GL - being an organic vegan and a foodie, it can be a challenge finding food..But I have to be totally realistic here; i just turned 69. and I decided to adopt a rescue pup who I hoped would be 40 lbs max and he passed that weight a while ago. Anywho, putting down (& lifting up) that Murphy bed after a long day could be a challenge. And then there is my dog Timmy. . .
    I like the two long bench seats that can be twin beds or one big bed. And honestly, what broughr it home for me is the fold-up sink in the shower! Oh baby! That makes Mommy happy!! You must have gotten a bit tired of me mentioning my unhappiness with the sink in the shower on EVERY one of your Travato video's I watched.
    Your videos really sold me on the Travato, Scott. After an interesting few years (it will all be in
    the book . . .), my dream of traveling the USA (& Canada) is taking shape. I am very excited and a teeny bit nervous but I know I will be very happy with the Travato. After all the weirdness ends from whatever "this" is, now in April 12, 2020 - I will go exploring. I hope our paths cross, Scott. I wish you many Happy Trails on your journey. Thank you for all the excellent info. I appreciate all your hard work.

      Floor plan is perfect for those wanting a "multi-room" experience and wanting to live in their bedroom, G vs K floor plan. Lighter color scheme. Skylights instead of color panel. Transformer bathroom. Larger 3-drawer style galley cabinet. Check out my tour of some European RVs and you'll see what I mean, th-cam.com/video/vf0_5bGl4GE/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks for the detailed, even intimate, tour.
    Exterior: So you paid extra for the paint job, then wrapped it? Also seems like the solar is a waste of money and roof space with Volta (your garden hose - swimming pool analogy).
    Interior: Glad you love it, but I'd go with the Kevin's K floorplan with the ability to stretch out in the bed like a chaise lounge. Can you do that?

      @gosmall.livelarge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn’t know about wrapping when I bought the rig. Wouldn’t pay for Deluxe again knowing I would wrap. Scott, your vid’s are awesome! Keep up the great work! We love this rig, and it has made it to the top of our list for our new van. That is mainly because of the small size and the function. Since we won’t be full time like you, and we will be using it as our second car so it needs to be easy to drive/park, flexible and reliable. Also, we will use it primarily to travel/roadtrip vs camp, so the lithium and the reliability you have shared with us makes this so flexible to road trip around these great States!!!! Question: my biggest concern is that we may be going too small, since it will be my hubby and I, our 9 year old, and two dogs (70 lbs each). We plan to use it for long weekends, and week long trips throughout the year. Do you think all of us could enjoy the van without it being too small? Heck, if I can’t answer this question after 1.5 years of research and RV shows, I don’t know why I am asking you, but I know your thought process is so logical and I would love your two cents. We can’t wait!!!!!!! Just FYI....currently we use a CRV, tent/sometimes cabin, car rack when we road trip, so we are pretty simple.

Then add the dogs. If you are all okay being in close proximity and expect to live outside the van, as in don't stay cramped up inside of it all the time. Personally I think the G floor plan is more flexible and does'nt' feel like you are living in your bedroom. You need to determine what makes you the most comfortable. Class B gives you the most flexibility, but there is the trade off of small space. Thx for your question!

      IMO, That would not be a good environment for a GL. Volta Pure3 would not operate charge discharge, waste tanks at risk, and not sure the cabin could be heated that comfortably. Maybe for an overnight, but I would not subject my rig to that extreme weather. Same goes this heat. why put you and the rig through those extremes?

      12ish in the city. 15-18 on the highway. Not bad for dragging 8500 pounds of house around with you right?!
