Had such a fun time collaborating with you, Zenzo! Maybe one day I'll have the guts to set up my first brackish tank because some of those species are too cool. 😁
Oh gosh, this video was so fun! We've all been through this conversation, "I'm setting up a new tank; what do you think I should do with it?!?" There was some great info here on what elements to consider, and the format made it super fun!
Thanks Zenzo! I love the shell dweller suggestion. I have a 20 long with a colony of Multis. I can seriously watch them for hours. They are suuuuper cute and interactive with eachother. I love the way they swim in and out of their shells. When they peek out at you OMG it is everything 😍 🥰
Great video as always Zenzo! Having both you and Irene on the video collaborating was really fun! I really liked Irene’s idea of the orange blue-eye Rainbowfish with the dwarf chain loaches. Those little orange fish darting around look super cool and I adore dwarf chain loaches. But the multis look like they will be fascinating to watch!
have had my 4 red eye lamp tetras , 3 bolivan rams and one albino pleco for 4 years planted. planted with driftwood and small rocks always exciting to look at .
I have a 20L stocked with a group of darters and a crawfish that I got from a local creek where I live in northern Alabama and a bluefin killifish that I found in the ghost shrimp tank at a LFS.
Great video and I also stocked my 20 gallon long with multies. They definitely need the larger footprint to maintain their territories but they don't bother the fry.
Shellie’s!!!! Shellie’s!!!! Love my Similis!!! Just had my first batch of fry after moving them from a 75g Tang community tank to their own 40g breeder
Great video. 20 long aquariums open up some nice options for occupants with the larger footprint and ability to create a couple different zones. Mine is home to 6 long fin white clouds, 4 otto’s, a clown pleco and 3 dwarf flag acara. The latter are small and peaceful, as cichlids go. The tank is planted, with rock and driftwood placed to define/divide areas. Everyone is healthy and aggression is minimal.
Ding ding ding! 🔔 Multies are totally the correct answer. 😄 I’ve had my 20L set up with them for 2 months and just adore them. I like taking slow motion videos of them spitting sand. 😂
I jumped 2 feet first into brackish and it was really easy. Now we have the world's most spoiled figure 8 in his own 55gallon brackish river bottom ecosystem
Any idea what happens Ed to the guy running Sand City Cichlids? We put in an order a few weeks ago and haven’t heard a word from them in response to the several emails we have sent. Their website has suddenly gone down as well. Thanks for any info you can provide.
They are illegal in California, so I’ve never kept them and don’t know enough to recommend them. Many people do tend to enjoy them though, and I’ve seen them in 20 gallon tanks before.

How about some good options for smaller brackish fish that can be kept together?

What do you do when the population becomes too large?
@@bguen1234 Hello. I sell them at my local Aquarium Society auctions 😁
The collaboration with Irene was wonderful and so clever! Nice work!

Great video! 20 gallon long is a great tank I have a colony of lelupi in mine right now. I do need to get shell dwellers great choice.
Love the video! Thanks Zenzo, this video settles it. When I set up my next 20 gallon, it will be for Multies.
Fun video guys 🙂
Good stocking advice thanks.

Will this apply to 20 gal high
Yes, 20 gallon high/tall as well as long for some.
What about axolotls
They are illegal in California, so I’ve never kept them and don’t know enough to recommend them. Many people do tend to enjoy them though, and I’ve seen them in 20 gallon tanks before.
@TazawaTanks I have about 100 rn most of them babies still, but I just can't find this fish tanks? Any link to where I can buy one?
It has to be shell dwellers. 20 long could create such a good scape.
top 5 for a 2g all in one lagoon ?
What on earth are those fish out of water with the bumble bee gobies?
Indian Mudskippers. I have several videos about my mudskippers.
About to get a 20 gallon because my 15 gallon is leaking 😭
