    In Italy the Canik P-120 is not known at all but despite this I bought it at a price of almost half that of the CZ-75 SP01. After trying it, I was very satisfied with it. No jamming, non-ejection of the cartridge case or other. As accurate as a CZ. I have had a CZ-75 SP01 in the past that I sold years ago and this Canik P-120 perfectly replaced the CZ in my weaponry. The only aspect that can be improved are the sights I replaced with an LPA model for the CZ-75. I am very satisfied and recommend it in particular for the excellent price / performance ratio.

    Tristar is the importer, the manufacturer is Canik. CZ could not patent the 75 because no such protections existed during communism, which is why there are so many clones

    Excellent comparison!! I have a tristar canik c100 chrome compact that I bought although I wasn't shopping for a pistol; the fit and finish was so good that I couldn't pass it up!! Over 1,000 rounds through it any nary a bobble!!

    Nice review,.. I really like the fact that the Tristar came with a metal guide rod. A lot of times, clones can actually be as nice or nicer at times than the original design,...because your not paying for branding,... like w/the Taurus PT92. .. It also came with metal guide rods and is just as nice as the Beretta and I have had both... now I need one of these...lol

      Yeah and a few pins are beefier, ie the fp stop pin is stronger it's a STD roll pin instead of the spiral pin in the cz, hammer pin is thicker among a few others have to ream a CZ hammer to fit the TriStar etc

      Same here!! I bought a CZ 52 4-5 ago but I never really heard or knew much about the other CZ's until the last year or so and I'm 46 and have been shooting since 5 years old. I have many guns and pistols in my collection but I just bought my first CZ 75 a few weeks ago I got the compact PCR with a decocker and I was like WOW WHY THE HELL DON'T I HAVE EVEY MODEL YET!?!?!! Dammit TH-cam costs me a lot of money!! 😂😂 But yeah I absolutely love that handgun. I definitely will be purchasing a few more CZ'S. I like my 1911's and my Glocks and a few others but the CZ is definitely my new favorite BY FAR!!! Oh!! Actually I did buy a P10c awhile ago and it's great too, but I kinda put that in a different class being a poly striker fired gun. Yeah I'm going to have to start putting away a lot more cash for the gun shop!!!

    U said the mags were 18rnd, but they are actually 19 rnd. I have the T120 and they came with the plus two base plates and they are 19 rnd. They are stiff at first but loosen up quick. Love the pistol. Good video.

  • @joep8787
    @joep8787 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The problem with the CZ is that even at their high price, it's scarce. Either CZ refuses to ramp up production or retailers refuse to carry it in large enough numbers to meet demand. Compare that with the Ruger 10/22 rifle. Quite possibly the most popular .22 rifle of all time, yet you can walk into any gun store and they'll have at least one version for sale. Ruger makes many different firearms, yet they have no trouble making enough 10/22s. Not only that, there are many versions of the 10/22, most of which are easy to get. There's no excuse for the CZ situation to be the way it is.

    I have two tri-stars, the c100 and s120 (compact and full size.) They both shot well, but compared to my brother's PCR, they both felt kind of clunky. Just not quite as svelte as the CZ. That is UNTIL I changed the grips out. Easy, cheap upgrade and couldn't be happier. So, if you get a Tristar and aren't happy with the feel, be sure to change your grips before dismissing it.

    Canik makes it, under lisc. from Tanfoglio (who's lisc'd the rights from CZ I believe???), Tri-Star is, per my understanding, just the "badge engineering" name/importer, there's also a proper Canik version as well (same name). Amazing value' IMO, not quite a CZ, but a dam good replica. Plenty of people who want to trash the Turk pistols but my TP9SA has over 5K rounds through it now without a hitch and my Shark FC (a Baby DE clone) is pushing close to 1000 without a single bobble. Worst thing so far is how stiff the mags are but being MecGar they're REALLY nice mags and they loosen well voer time without becoming sloppy. Happy shooting, thanks for the vid.

    • @MatteoSixSeventyFour
      @MatteoSixSeventyFour 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Canik does not make it under Lic'd from Tanfoglio. That's Sarsilmaz that does that. The Tanfoglio version differs slightly from the CZ in terms of the trigger and mag system as well as the firing pin among a few others. (_IMHO I prefer the slight differences in the Tanfoglio over the CZ_) In the world of CZ clones, there are 2 ways it's made. Either by the CZ design or by the Tanfoglio. Canik is built on the exact same design as CZ. Easiest way to differentiate which system a clone utilizes. Is to look on the slide and see if the firing pin is captured by a roll pin. If not, it's typically built on the Tanfoglio design.
      I love 'em all. I'm just a fanatic for CZ and the many clones!!

      @DB.KOOPER 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MatteoSixSeventyFour Wow, thanks for the info mate. That's very interesting, I've only recently gotten my first "real" CZ but I love the design and I'm a big 10mm proponent so Tanfo is now big on my list as well. Again, thanks for the education, those little details can get confusing aye.

    • @MatteoSixSeventyFour
      @MatteoSixSeventyFour 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you do get the Tanfoglio in 10mm you'll need to upgrade your recoil spring. SAAMI lists 2 different pressure specs for the 10mm. From the factory they(_Tanfoglio_) spring them according to the lesser 10mm loadings, ie the FBI pressures. Which is nothing more than 10mm loaded to nearly the same as 40 S&W. A 20# recoil spring from Wolff Spring from the EAA section will do you right. Otherwise you'll learn the joy of cracking a slide. And it's not fun. Trust me

      +MatteoSixSeventyFour Yeah I'm a hand loader so I figured I'd be tuning the action with a new spring (I have loads from mild/.40sw to 180gr @ 1550fps wild). Good call and again, all info is much appreciated. Cheers mate.

    How come no one calls every 1911 not made by Colt a clone? Why the insistence of calling this gun a clone? This gun and its cousins are just 75B's not made by CZ.

    Buy the cheaper one...it's the same shit and you won't be afraid to scratch it up. Tri Star makes some CZ clones for less than $300, get one and beat the hell out of it, you'll enjoy it more!

    Tristar is just the importer, they are made a Canik in Turkey. Turk metallurgy is not all that good and will not stand up over the years like the CZ's and Tanfoglio's. I love CZ's but I have to say to anyone else who does: Tanfoglio made some serious improvements to the design, a better trigger and significantly easier disassembly, with their seer cage.

    Just ordered a p120 chrome 😬
    399 shipped gunbuyer.com
    Runs flawlessly right out of the box very smooth trigger nice sa pull
    Ordered a 14lb main spring and a rami firing pin spring and a few pin stop springs from cz customs for the p120, p09, and p07 to lighten up the trigger by about 40%

      This is a very good option for someone that doesn't want to pay full price. I have a few CZs and a C100. The trigger on the C100 is as nice as the P01. Reliability has been equal so far. My next CZ will hopefully be a Phantom but I have plenty of fun using what I already have.
