This is how I started making ratings when I first began playing with power ratings. However, as my knowledge of the game evolved, I switched to a more intricate system where I looked at all the statistics of the teams compared to schedule strength, where I could then estimate the stats for the game and then from the stats, estimate a probable score and probable standard deviation of possible scores based on the predicted stats. Then, I compared my predictions in yards and points with the actual outcome and made adjustments based on the differences.

When you say that we need to know the value of each player in the NBA, is there a preferred value or efficiency rating out there that you'd recommend? Bc I've looked and there are a few out there, but each one seems to have it's flaws. So I'm wondering which one you'd say is the better one to follow. Thanks
