Very informative, I live in Orlando, Florida, but I don’t think many here are aware, going thru Cuba, and the West Indies, is the Caribbean Plate, and it has not had a major quake in a long time. We should be prepared here also, but I do not think we are

It would have been good to see data & evidence that shows any previous tsunami's over 1m, around NZ.

Unbelievable A blue line shows you what is safe and what is not. We really have not seen a mega tsunami in my lifetime. Also, there probably has not been one for 100s of years which means one is coming. I would anticipate as strong possibilities. one radiating out from the Canary Islands and possibly one radiating out from the island bordering the Hecate Strait in Canada. If a mega tsunami was to hit the east coast of Australia, i would be up on the Great Dividing Range. While it is reassuring to have a blue line at 30 metres, I would be going higher. The tsunami in Indonesia and the one in Japan do not even compare to a mega tsunami.

The council? The council is worse than useless. In Japan the Tsunami climbed 122 feet in one area. 37 Meters vertical.

Scary stuff when you got Tsunami warning signs painted on your street 30 to 40 meters above sea level. but Hey, no probs mates, just do the Great Haka and scare the Tsunamis away....:-)

Maybe go to one tree hill and get to the highest part of the tower if the tsunami actually hits auckland

The tsunami blue lines a false information it is a minimal guesstimate as to potential for the traveling water surges, it IS NOT A TSUNAMI SAFE ZONE AT ALL.
if we're basing our megathrust quake tsunami potential on Japan's 9.0 magnitude quake then we know those TSUNAMI surges traveled, well past the 2km blue line tsunami safe zone marker in Foxton nz.
Not considering the estuary, river loop, streams, rivers surrounding all of these coastal townships our only hope is to get inland to the heights trig or Holcombe, top of mt lee in feilding waituna west hill tops, apiti rangawahia kimbolton while by passing all the creeks the surges will be inundating.
Know your out route and don't piss around
