First thing to be said is the Italian music festival of Sanremo pre-exist the Eurovision and the festival is not done for the specific purpose of choosing who is going at Eurovision but just to choose the Sanremo winner (without caring if the song fits to Eurovision…). Having said that Italian ballads are full of meaningful lyrics, is all about feelings, sharing emotions, connecting with people… this song is a grower and also consider that at Eurovision (if this one will presented) will be much shorter giving different vibes. The songs that ranked top 3 at Sanremo were all materially different, any of them could have won Sanremo but maybe the runner up would have fit better to the Eurovision… react to the top 3, so Lazza with the song Cenere and Mr Rain with the song Supereroi and let us know. Having said that I am happy for having Marco Mengoni at Eurovision 🎉
The song is about the dialogue between two parts of the same person, the conscious one and the onyric. I love the song, I love Marco's voice. I think this is probably not going to win the Eurovision but he's still probably going to be the best singer there! Overall, I'm very happy with the entry! He's very famous here and he actually represented Italy back in 2013! Regarding the questions about ballads, I usually need the lyrics to resonate with me, maybe not the specific theme the song is about, but if I can relate it to something personal, I'll listen to it non stop. And in this case it worked!
Honestly, I love this song. It's one of my personal favourite for this year, his voice is awesome, he is definitely delivering the emotion of the song (at least for me) and I could tear up and maybe even cry if I am in the right mood listening to the song and I don't even understand Italian language. But that said, I probably won't add this to my daily and regular playlist. Maybe I would add this to my emotional playlist 😅. His other song No Stress is more upbeat, it's a fun song if you want to listen to other song from Marco, of course there's also his song from Eurovision 2013, also ballad but also beautiful.

I am happy with the choice because it is democratic. We don't choose the song for Eurovision. The Sanremo festival is important and historic. Eurovision took inspiration from the Sanremo festival. It's not that Italy loves ballads. There are different styles of music, like in America. In my opinion ballads are the ones that people like best abroad, since they only react to them.
The audience was kinda split, 2nd favorite was Lazza - Cenere. Check it out to see how Italy would go with a more modern/upbeat entry. Wonder why he didn't win.
Marco might not win because it does not have the typical fun-vides of ESC.. but this is definetely one of the very few SONGS this year. And it s nit everyone's game to fill the stage and the arena without "trashy" eye-catching background-stuff. Marco rocks.. always❤
