They're all talking about this crazy shiz they did in high school on New Years and I'm a sophomore in HS and I'm just hear like, I eat popcorn and watch Netflix with my parents and little brother...
eating 12 grapes is an spanish tradition, one year there was a huge quantity of grapes and farmers were too scared they wouldn't sell all so they came up with this legend that eating 12 grapes would bring luck to your year. Also, in Spain parties start after 12 am and we have family dinners before usually.
I'm so boring. I've literally never gone out for new years because I don't trust people and I'd much rather just stay in wearing my sweats and eating whatever junk food I can find. I don't even watch any of the new years shows anymore. It's just become another random day for me.
I find it so funny that they said that the Holiday is the 31st. My mother always jammed it into my brain every year that New Years eve is NOT a holiday. We always went to a family party on New Years day. As a 30 something adult, my husband and I will host a dinner a small dinner on New Years day and watch the ball drop the night before.
My birthday is the 1st so I've always stayed up and done something to celebrate. Last year I went white water rafting and the year before I had a bonfire at my friend's beach house. This year however was the worst New Years ever!! I got stuck in England because of fog by Heathrow and was in a crammed airplane, with the most rude air hostesses that could ever exist! I literally was all alone with no idea where I was!! I had asked for champagne, but they had none left so I was given white wine (which was disgusting!!!) The air hostesses got cross when people said Happy New Year. It was absolutely the worst experience I've ever had!! When I finally got home to South Africa, it was after midday so most of my birthday was gone. I burst into tears so many times that day it's not even funny.
My New Year's Eve tradition until like like seventh or eighth grade was watching the New Year's Eve specials on Disney Channel. Then when Disney stopped doing them, I watched Dick Clark's New Year Rockin' Eve on ABC!
Glitters? Dresses? My style at new years eve is sweatpants and a sweater. And with my parents at home because they won't let me go to parties.. so fun😒
New Years Eve for my big Mexican family is really just a reason for my uncles and dad to get really drunk and then my aunts and my mom have to drive an hour to get to our houses at 2 am.
So I was on holiday in New York on New Year's but we for sure avoided Time Square. No way I would do this to myself. We just went to Central Park where there was some kind of a concert and then we watched the fireworks which was nice :)
My fave tradition in New Years Eve is Media Noche! because food. duh and also jumping with coins on the pocket wearing polka dots as 12 mn pass (for height and money) but it really never works. haha!
I'm from Scotland and we do tons for Hogmanay as we call New Year's Eve. Depending where you're from Steak Pie meal at 10pm with family/close friends. After that drinking and watching comedy until Jackie, Phil and Ally come on on BBC1 When the bells (midnight) come just before Mons Meg cannon gets fired, Bagpiper plays, countdown then wish everyone in place a Happy New Year. I'm in Shetland so we go to kitchen and watch fireworks and listen to boats tooting their horns. We have a custom of making soup from cured mutton called Reestit Mutton with potatoes, leeks and carrots and then get all the nibbles laid out for First Footers. A First Footer is someone who goes around visiting friends and neighbours. The tradition is that a First Footer who is tall, dark and handsome will bring luck for the year and they should have on them whisky, shortbread/black bun (type of fruit cake) and coal. In Shetland the reality is more like taking half a pub with you so you can offer everyone in the house a drink. There is much merriment and average bedtime for most is about 6amish. Go to sleep and repeat for 1st of Jan too. In Scotland we have a public holiday on the 2nd. Phew didn't think I'd get that finished.
In the uk we either stay home and so absolutely nothing or go out and get so wasted we struggle to function the next day....neither are too appealing 😂
My Birthday is new years day, and every year my family comes over at 3 pm. Theres cola, chips and dip + of course chocolate cake. My older sister and cousins always arrive in their pajamas. and then they often leave 2 hours later. But the numbers have dropped for how many people come, because we're all over 18 now (i'm from denmark). But I don't believe i'll be holding a birthday in 2018.
*Growing up on the east coast (NJ to be precise) on New Year's Day, I would watch the Mummers Parade in Philadelphia on MY PHL 17 throughout the morning, followed by the Fancy Brigade finale at 5 O'Clock.*
Lol they've had a much more exciting High School life. Parties in new years eve.....Over here like, im a Junior and this new years eve, I watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone with my mom and right at midnight we paused it and drank sparkling apple cider as "champagne." As a huge potter fan, I don't regret it. 😂
I live in Australia and Sydney literally GOES ALL OUT. and this year the fireworks are going tro be a tribute to Bowie, Prince and that guy from Charlie and the chocolate factory.
When I was a kid my mom always put on the New York City ball drop thing on tv but where we live the nyc ball drop was at ten pm so I never actually stayed up till New Years
me and my soon to be hubby ring the New Year by kissing for the first 20 seconds of the New Year and then chug a rum and coke right after. we did that the first year we were together and it has always brought us good luck :)
Our new years is so different in denmark. I know we eat new year fish for dinner. Jump over dessert. And hour before 12 am/24 O'clock - the champagne, kransekage and liqour get on the table - with fire crackers. So comes the time to, the fireworks. The colour black and grey is the colour on women, like red to Christmas. In my family - we put mask and hats on us. Oh, yes.... 10 minutes before midnight… is a tradition in many Danish to see a tv-show called: the 90th birthday… whitout it, it's not new year.
In about 2 months, New Years is coming soon and 2020 is about to happen and It feels so weird and little Nervous and I don’t why, I just scared of change
I normally don't do anything for New Year's Eve but this year I will have a little New Year's party and I will have a blue dress that is kind of a prom dress but it goes to a dark blue and light blue at the bottom and I have black glittery shoes and the dress is so glittery I could die
I went last year to NYC and was there on New Years and at 7 in the morning on New Year's Eve people were standing up at the front with adult diapers on... weirdest thing ever... my hotel was right where the ball dropped so I didn't have to wait at all
Vasha Aungon it's true though For what it's worth, all these people in the video and my self live in LA California. I think we just have a genuine disinterest in NYC that maybe someone from like Kansas would have.
In high school I went to Vegas with my mom and dad on NYE, the year Britney got married in Vegas and my dad wouldn't let me stay up till midnight because it was already past midnight on the east coast.. he made me go to bed lol
Mt\y mom's grandpa was terrified of the end of the world, so he hid money around the house and stocked up on non-perishables. He died in December of 1999.
omg, I can relate so much. usually on NYE my family goes out to dinner & then we meet up at a friends house& party/ watch the ball drop. then at midnight we eat 12 grapes.
New York is actually a pretty hectic place on New year's. Not the best place unless you're magically apart of the extravaganza or the event. and the aftermath?! ugh....too much.. but still pretty to view
They're all talking about this crazy shiz they did in high school on New Years and I'm a sophomore in HS and I'm just hear like, I eat popcorn and watch Netflix with my parents and little brother...

I'm so boring. I've literally never gone out for new years because I don't trust people and I'd much rather just stay in wearing my sweats and eating whatever junk food I can find. I don't even watch any of the new years shows anymore. It's just become another random day for me.

New Years Eve for my big Mexican family is really just a reason for my uncles and dad to get really drunk and then my aunts and my mom have to drive an hour to get to our houses at 2 am.
I never watch the ball drop because I live in a different timezone, so the ball would drop at like 11:00 for me
So I was on holiday in New York on New Year's but we for sure avoided Time Square. No way I would do this to myself. We just went to Central Park where there was some kind of a concert and then we watched the fireworks which was nice :)

I literally wear jeans, a t-shirt, and a jacket on New Years Eve. I go to a friend's house with my parents and stay sober.
I imagine a HS New Years party to be like the opening scene from High School Musical where the main characters sing karaoke and crap.
