- This video is really more of a way to clarify my misunderstanding of the FT-710 as far as receiver sensitivity is concerned. I, by no means want to make Yaesu look bad for my ignorance on how to properly use their product. So I deleted my prior video I posted on the Yaesu FT-710’s receiver sensitivity. I realize now that I was off frequency when initially performing my tests and my SINAD results were inaccurate.
The argument can be made that comparing the FTDX10’s hybrid SDR receiver to the FT-710 isn’t an “apples to apples” comparison. It’s a fair argument. But these results were still interesting to see.
All testing was done on Upper Side Band, 1khz off the fundamental generated input frequency. The FTDX 10 was able to do 12db of SINAD at -134db with DNR setting 4. The FT-710 was able to do 12db of SINAD at -136db with DNR setting 4. Very close in performance. Only 2db variance in sensitivity.
I’m already a huge fan of the FT-710 and FTDX 10. Both radios exceed the operators manual spec for sensitivity. Once DNR is applied, they easily far exceed the spec.
Is there a clear cut winner? If looking at the numbers, yes. The FT-710 did fair better.
