I enjoy watching that guy run a saw. It is a joy to watch him having that much fun. I'm unfortunately just going to run my stock 500I for now. I will eventually get a saw from ripsaw. Keep doing what you're doing brother.
That’s exactly what I was thinking but I’ll never knock the Ripsaw guys or anyone willing & able to pay the price for a great saw. It’s business, and they provide a great product that people are obviously willing to pay for. All thumbs up for Ripsaw.
I consider myself a “Stihl Guy” but I bought a new Husky 372 partially by recommendation from Buckin’. Nothing wrong with a “Husky Guy” appreciating a good Stihl saw especially one that was hot rodded by the fine folks at Ripsaw. Keep up the good work, be safe, and have fun!
I ran a new stock 500i at the Canadian Vintage Chainsaw Hoarders Get Together this past year - Impressive!! I can only imagine what it is like ported. One won't be in my cards any time soon, but I did build a killer ported MS440/460 hybrid that pulls harder than a stock 500i. It is my new favourite saw - and I am a Husqvarna man at heart. It is noticeably lighter and pulls harder than my ported big bore 372 - just an absolute joy of a saw to run. Love your videos - you have been an inspiration to me. Thanks brother!!
I am envious. I live in the deep South, too hot for me. My family is from Maine and I prefer the cold. My wife said if I move to Maine it will be alone. So, I guess I will be looking for a smaller house.
Rip saw is amazing but the price is high and the wait is 16 to 20 weeks. I know they're very busy, cuz. They're stuff is amazing. That's almost 5 months, and they're charged in $600. More than what the saw is. Most guys who do work to saw as charge for 450 at the most. But they are great, I'll give them that.
The Bunyan footage is great, at the time I was doing a few things so now I can take the time to watch some good stuff and in my memories remember some of it live. Take care my friend 🙏♥️
My only complaint about the Ripsaw 500i is that it shoots TOO MUCH saw chips TO Fast!! I feel like I’m walking in deep snow there’s so much saw dust!!! They need to put a chip collector chute on the backside!!! It’s a joke, take it easy!
Those rip saw 500s are amazing, I build saws for big hardwood and watching that saw rip into that maple was amazing, it’s rare to see built saws in hardwood like that, it’s just hard on equipment and everything, and amazing video as always Tinman
That’s what I was taking away from this video… those ripsaw 500’s don’t run like any other 500 … I don’t know what exactly they did to turn them up into that monster torque beast in that video but they definitely have a fantastic recipe’s and I’m guessing it’s a good 30% stronger then stock maybe???? Our 462 spanked a 500 and it wouldn’t keep up with that RipSaw version…. Love to see the Dyno Joe results of those head to head with stock!!!
My buddy is trying to get me to pull the trigger and get a 500 but for now my 400c is doing an excellent job bucking logs. Maybe one day. Thanks, Tinman
Being from Pennsylvania I’m no stranger to hardwoods. I love my echos. I typically cut shag hickory when it’s available but settle for ash. Red oaks stupid easy to split with axes but I hate burning it. I don’t like wood piles so I cut standing dead and it takes too long to dry. I tried the long bar game but it kills my back. It’s a catch 22 for me. A big heavy powerful saw cuts faster thru our wood but a lighter saw is easier on the body. That XL You built would be a perfect saw. A light weight screaming 50cc with a 20” bar is home
That was a maple stump Buckin was gnawing at. That stump had to be sitting at least a couple years. The same in a red oak he would have been throwing sparks.
It’s definitely not a regular stock 500i that is looking so badazz and super strong in the video and I’d love to see how much better that RipSaw’s 500 runs next to the factory version…. Would love to know just for the shits and giggles what they cut out of the squish band on their version because it’s looking absolutely strong with the bar buried and laying into her pretty good it’s just blasting through the wood!!! I’d love to have a RipSaw’s 500i LMFFAO
Never understood why people didn't like the 500i . I absolutely love mine. It's reliable, powerful, and feels awesome in the hands. All I have is a bark box on mine, and some bigger Dawgs. It's always my first saw I grab.
I’ve got two 441’s here and I found a case half for the pto side of one…. Looks like the chain ground into the case after several derailing’s or something crazy outside the brake has been rashed through and made a hole…. I hated how high rpm’s these will twist 14.200 area and I used the 52mm BigBore Farmertec topend on my last one and I was able to get a long exhaust duration and totally changed it up and it’s pulling like the 462 and 13,500 all day? I am also going to check out the timing numbers with a 372xtorqer piston swap??? The wider and taller cutouts look like they might help move more fuel charge but I’m still trying to get my head around this design…. Cut my fresh air intake area into a pocket and then into my intake port like a BellHopper Xtorq so they can get a good amount more torque from the additional fuel charge??? I’m just putting these back together with a minimum of work and mostly want to get a little better air boost and fuel charge mixture into the intake face cut so it’s just tossing a little bit more oil and fuel and not straight air on the face of the crazy hot piston??? This is a extremely confusing design of a engine design or I’m just not really understanding what is really happening with the Xtorq engine design??? They are crazy to be dumping air into the cylinder with no fuel mixture and then it’s mixing up maybe in your combustion chamber and “Bang!” Fires!!! 14k!!! It’s just crazy lean ??? Scary lean???? 50:1 would be 85:1??? LMFFAO dead in a couple years lean???
hey tinman cool video i consider myself a husky guy but i also own some smaller stihls which run great the main problem with these new saws is the price for your average hard working man i have alot of friends that would like to buy a 372 like i run now compare that price to one of these 500i these prices are insane
Tinman are Ripsaw changing our the OEM piston. I saw a video about how the OEM pistons are very irregular in shape especially the skirt, from one to another. A bit of a worry? What's your thoughts on the stock pistons..?
