I wholeheartedly agree about the gift aspect. I'd be blown away if I received this. As someone quite early in my collecting (2 swords and 1 shield) it's very appealing to me as I still have room for the box. Also regarding the axe itself personally I'm a big fan. I think there is a fine line with decoration where it can get too close to fantasy. The decoration on this still feels very grounded. Pricing as always very reasonable from Windlass
To me, the presentation makes it looks like the quintessential high-end gift shop item. Something I would walk past and say "that looks really nice!" but never even consider buying for myself. With that said, it does look like a nice axe, it's just that the box isn't really worth the added cost for me. Of course I'd be thrilled to receive it as a gift, though.
To me that looks very nice and one the better looking bearded axes that I've seen. Would I buy it though? Maybe not as it has too much going on, the box etc. 😕 if it was just the axe alone, then maybe. Also it's great to see you back sir!
@@Psycho-Ssnake 😎 I've actually been subscribed since the beginning, my (admittedly probably poorly written) comment was more about my pleasant surprise that the channel was uploading again. Thanks for the excellent review of MR though, everything you said is true! 🙂
If I were buying it for myself I would put a premium on it coming with a really nice carry system or sheath. If I were buying an axe for someone else as a gift I’d love the box. The little knife is almost completely worthless to me in either scenario.
Mmmmmm.... this is a no for me. If I got it as a gift I would appreciate the thought but it would live in that box. It looks cool, but that is one chunky boy right there lol. I have a coldsteel Norse hawk, it was dirt cheap, it rings like a bell and cuts extremely well due to it being very thin and very sharp.(after I sharpened it) Coldsteel actually makes a few great viking style axes. I would much rather get one or two or three of those than this. Just my two cents. And I'm a little annoyed with windlass right now. I bought one those Langied axes before they got discontinued, it was a great design but the grinding was horrible, the top horn was all janked up and the blade was wrapped. It was at a 2 o'clock, 8 o'clock angle relative to the haft. It was just terrible quality control, oh and the head was loose...I returned it no questions asked they basically apologized for selling it me in the first place lol. All that being said I see the appeal of this thing, it's pretty cool just not for me. Speaking of Langied I'm eagerly awaiting you review of the Langied sword! That one has potential to earn my money 🤘💀 a little bit too "Christy" for me but a good blade is a good blade.
The benefit is that at least Windlass has good customer service when something goes wrong. You will want to watch my Langeid sword review in it's entirety, with it being a little bit too "Christy", because I think my greatest criticism of the sword itself will likely be a selling point for you. So if you do decide to buy it after the review, use the affiliate link. 😉
Sorry but I just don't like it at all. The whole set looks cheap and tacky, to me. However at £170 here in the UK it is not as expensive as I expected it to be.
I am so excited that you are uploading again!

Good to have you back buddy
Soooo hyped for the return of this channel
Yar!
I’ve never been a Viking guy especially when it comes to swords, but if I was going to buy a Viking weapon I’d buy this axe.
Another fantastic review. Great work!
