I cannot stop watching him play this fairly easy song. Howver what he is doing within is lethally dangerous. Watch his right hand picking technique when going through the 3 chords He applies many different difficult styles, and has the left hand in perfect sync with his right hand. That right hand alternating with his pick, and fingers is total talent, and lots of long long hours spent woodshedding. I would do anything to learn his techniques. When you see guys like this, it makes you SMILE
One of the great guitarist of all time that never gets his due. Many years from now people are gonna look back at him and wonder wtf people of this time did not praise his talents like they should have.He is 1000000000 times better than the pop "artist" mass media tries to shove down our throat.
And I hated country music until I discovered junior brown why can’t country music all be like this? Junior is the real deal best guitarist alive today! Brad paisley can’t touch this guy!
Love it! I've seen him a couple of times and he SMOKES! For the record, his rhythm section is pretty damn good too. The drummer on this particular song gets a WORKOUT. And you won't believe the sound the three of them can come up with during "Foxey Lady" by Hendrix.
This dude was playing like this since in the 50's, sheeeesh ! I first saw him when I was a young boy on the Grand Ole Opry, and he is still hot ! Give it what for Jr buddy !
Can you imagine someone going to the Sausalito Arts Festival expecting some California Artsy-Folksie type band (having no clue who Junior is) and then seeing THIS GUY doing this ???? The one and only Mr. Junior Brown !! That said, in Southern Cali the Beach Boys had already been introduced :) Love It !
Under-appreciated musical genius - saw him in a tiny club in Atlanta in the early 90s - unbelievable - best one to me is Stupid Blues - maybe because I "relate".
+standepain It's the money-men's fault .......... Sadly , it seems to be All about the flow of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ ....... and the Influence it buys ........
The guy that first introduced me to Junior described him as Jerry Reed meets Jimi Hendrix lol The instrument was custom made for him btw. He calls it a guitsteel.
I heard someone singing Freeborn Man on Sirius this morning and thought - Who would dare to record this great Jimmy Martin tune (Jimmy did such a great job) - then i saw on the display that it was Junior - well that's just fine with me.
He's pretty much posessed!! I love this guy, I always have. There's nothing he did that I COULDN'T do....but the point is I would never think to do it. My brain doesn't let me play with that much reckless abandondment unless chemicals are involved!!! 5 stars for being a badass.
I've seen this guy live three times, and I don't even like country music!!! This guy fuck's shit up and takes no prisoners. No matter what your musical taste is, if you get the chance, see this guy. He's AMAZING!!!
I love Junior. He's a hoot and a half. I bet he's fun as heck to party with! Thanks Junior. I recently got turned on to you on Outlaw Country on XM. You need to get with The Loon in the Afternoon, Mojo Nixon and do a show with him. Oh man, hold onto your seats if that happens. LOL
Excited to see Jr Brown in Killbuck, Oh on Oct 5,2013 at The Duncan Theater Benefit for The Wounded Warrior Project. If interested in tickets check the theater Facebook page !
As we say on the jobsite, when somebody appreciates something it took more than a few trys to learn, and they ask, how'd you do that?! the answer is, "superhuman strength, and yeeeeaaaars of experience! Plus the man obviously loves what he does.
@Bluesman9830 Hey thats a very accurate assessment of Jr. re: Jerry Reed meets Jimi. Live performances are unbeatable. And if you do see him live be sure and watch the drummer closely. Outstanding.
@MegaGristle The suit kinda gives him that Bonamasa thing & I would love to see both in the same show! I saw him in Colorado in a dink town close to the Utah border off I-70. It was awesome! Hearing people cheer for a song written in 1928 while they are toking up is too cool for words! Everyone can get something from his show!
does anyone know what set-up he uses, amps etc? thanks - love this real country stuff - you can see its influences in everything blues, rock etc... long live real musicians and music... fuckin love this!
I saw him play a few times in a small theater venue here in Pennsylvania. Sometimes it almost appeared like he was possessed or something. How a brain can work that fast is beyond me.
How can anybody not like this? Even if you don't like the genre, bow down to the talent.
Junior Brown is nothing short of phenomenal.
I've only just discovered this guy. He's brilliant!

Possibly the finest blues performance I have ever seen.
AWESOME!!!
I've seen Junior play several times and this is one of the best performances of "Freeborn Man" I've ever seen. Excellent camerawork, too.
The boots, the suit, the hat, the guitsteel and a whole lotta TALENT!
Junior Brown is DA MAN.
Always amazed with Junior's multi fingered guitar playing, a greatest of all time. Now I want to hear the next song too.
And I hated country music until I discovered junior brown why can’t country music all be like this? Junior is the real deal best guitarist alive today! Brad paisley can’t touch this guy!

+thepike100 Never understood why he never hit it big. Hell I'm a trash metal-head and just love Junior, that's how damn good he is!
+standepain It's the money-men's fault .......... Sadly , it seems to be All about the flow of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ ....... and the Influence it buys ........
The guitar being on the stand and at that angle allows him a lot of freedom to move around the fretboard
This guys one off the GOAT’s
The guy that first introduced me to Junior described him as Jerry Reed meets Jimi Hendrix lol The instrument was custom made for him btw. He calls it a guitsteel.

He's pretty much posessed!! I love this guy, I always have. There's nothing he did that I COULDN'T do....but the point is I would never think to do it. My brain doesn't let me play with that much reckless abandondment unless chemicals are involved!!! 5 stars for being a badass.
