Cracks me up that you've become more Malaysian than some Malaysians - you knew exactly that the teapot was to wash your hands with and you automatically prefer to use your hands instead of a fork! And of course, you understand that life and community revolves around good food and good people! 😊

That just shows how primitive and backwards some areas, places, and communities in Msia still are. No basic cutlery or even a sink.

Hey guys. You are missing the longest night market in Malaysia. You would be surprised the kind of food they are selling there. In the meantime, you might want to try out our wedding dishes (nasi kawin) over at jalan berangan.

Hai a very good beautiful morning to both of you . Very happy to see you visiting and enjoying the breakfast cum lunch at the restaurant at Jalan Raja Bot (King Bot Road).
So happy to see you practicing Bahasa Malaysia (Malay language) while choosing the delicious and healthy combination of dishes. Should include fruits in you meal I suppose.
I would suggest you request for Nasi hidang, literally means that you request each dish to be placed in a saperate plate. That is 2 dishes of white rice, 1 plate of daging, 1 plate of ikan bakar, 2 plate of chicken, 1 plate of vegetables and 1 plate of etc. Then both of you can then enjoy 4 different dishes at the same time.

"Raja" in "Raja Bot" is an honourific, like "Count", "Duke". They're like the the third tier in royal family lineage after Tengku. So it's improper to translate the "Raja" part.

@@secateenumrah Raja Bot was the son of Raja Jumaat. He is a noble, one can say he is a royalty hence the title in his name, but definitely won't be a Sultan (king) because his line is already considered extended family to the ruling line.
Usually the tradition in many Malay states, Rajas are descendants of a Tengku that has married a commoner, equivalent to Niks in Kelantan.
An exemption maybe the Perak system, due to their orang kaya and rotation system

The beef dish is "Rendang Daging", ie. Beef Rendang, a delicacy from the Minangkabau sub-ethnic, concentrated mostly in Padang, West Sumatera, Indonesia and also state of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.
It's beef cooked in coconut milk and spices, slow cooked for like 8 hours (nowadays most cook it in pressure cooker).
Rated #1 in a global ranking of most delicious food by CNN website a few years ago.
There are many kind of rendang. Beef rendang is not the same as chicken rendang (lighter, yellower, taste a bit different too). And Minangkabau households also have many different versions of beef rendang. I'm not a Minangite, so don't ask me.

There are many types of chips/crackers like fish based (local fav known as keropok), shrimp, potato, rice etc…. There’s a type of plant chip called Belinjo/Emping which is slightly bitter but very addictive, some stalls like the one you guys visited may have it, especially if they serve Indonesian dishes. Hopefully you have tried it.

Great find this eatery. Eating food with crackers/chips on the side is super delicious! The bigger chips towards the end of your video is called Emping Belinjo. They're made from the nuts of the Melinjo tree and coated with a layer of caramelized sugar and garlic to balance the slightly bitter taste of the chips. The Indonesian President was here yesterday visiting the Chow Kit market.
