Great video! It's great getting to hunt wild birds in our home state. I make my poppers with jalapeño, cream cheese, bacon and cheddar. I've never seen the apples used in that way. I'm definitely going to try that.
Thanks for your comment! I'm with you on hunting birds in Kentucky. Also, your poppers sound like they would be great. I don't expect apples are any better but would be different... maybe a little sweeter. Thanks again!
well done . would not have expected woodcock in that area. Grouse yes but not woodcock always thought of them as more of a bottom land bird. Miss sandy is taking a break, deer season here. 1st of DEC we can hunt for another month.
Thanks Gil! I think you're right about them usually being in bottom land, but during the migration they're less selective. That said, I do tend to find them in the same places each year on our property... hot spots so to speak. Dec 1st is right around the corner!
Thanks for watching! For me, the NE part of the state is tough for birds unless the woodcock are in. I kind of think of central and western KY being better for birds... especially quail. However, I'm by no means an expert. Good luck!
Great video! I just kicked out two woodcock while bear hunting the swamps here in PA. this week. Pretty sure they were two different birds. I couldn't believe how big they seemed to be. I thought they were grouse at first. They took off right at my feet. Both would have been clean shots with a shotgun. Thanks for the recipe as well. Never thought of using apple as a base. Normally it is Jalapeno pepper with cream cheese. I'll have to try it your way. Thanks for the video. Stay blessed and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Thanks for your comment! PA is definitely in the eastern flyway for these birds... kind of like KY. They are surprisingly big to me, too... they're not big birds by any means, but they're not super small birds either. Hope your bear hunt went well, and Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks again!

Hi! Matt here from Louisville. I have a 1 year old American Brittany. This is our first hunting season - would love to connect.
I make my poppers with apples or pepperoncini peppers. Those look great!
I bet pepperoncini peppers would be good, too! Thanks for your comment!
Enjoyed the video and they did look tasty.
Thanks for your comment!

I’m in nky, been trying to get on some birds over towards the ne part of the state, public land. Been striking out so far. Great vids.
