Originally a clan of travellers and wanderers, the Fremennik are described as a group of Norsemen who live in the Fremennik province in mainland Gielinor. It’s often said that all humans across Gielinor originated from the Fremennik, and though we may be common ancestors, it doesn’t mean that they trust anyone easily.

Thanks for watching guys, hope you enjoyed the video :) Was quite sick right before recording this so managed to pull it together at least!
Congrats on the sponsor, big man! Your videos are top notch 🫶
@@VVovsen Thank you!
Your voice is what i imagine a fremennick accent sounds like
Howling at the thought of scouse vikings
I always thought the 2 island names was more a play on words, "yah tis so" and "nay its not"
Honestly that makes more sense, my biggest struggle with these videos has been the pronounciation
Gz on a sponsor! Easily my favourite RuneScape channel these days. The lore is awesome! Love the format too!
always a good day when gravitybind uploads
Dude what a find! I absolutely love your channel, the osrs lore is sooo cool
Love your videos man, definitely watched them all multiple times. Here’s to hoping your channel keeps growing
Congrats on the sponsorship! Love your content!
Love your vids!
I was just saying yesterday that I need a new lore video to come out because I had watched all of them already.
Wait a minute I just now realized after watching dune 2 is the fremenik name a reference to the fremen in dune
7:55 ... or, you know, a bit more like the window tax... in the UK.
Not gonna lie, completely forgot there used to be a window tax here...
@@Gravitybind There... there was a WHAT tax?
And we got royally pissed off over a tax on tea...
Gonna be great
i liked this video
Personally I feel like there were a lot of elements of the Fremeniks you could of explored.
You barely talk about the history of V and his critical role for keeping Fremenik society stable. You don't talk about whether he was an actual god after finding the stone of Jas or if he founded the original moon clan after being filled with magic knowledge in the osrs version in comparison to rs3 (although the two wikis are in agreement). If V was a god, then I do agree that the schism between the moon clan and other Fremeniks probably would have happened around the fourth age because he would have the authority to prevent such hostilities from happening in the first place.
Also what about the difference between the civilians of Relekka and the rowdy barbarians west of Varrock. Are barbarians of the barbarian village/outpost just younger Fremeniks who have gone through a culturally rebellious stage, by running around in their bikinis? What exactly does it mean to be a barbarian when compared with Ottos teachings vs Relekkas trials? And why do certain barbarians have access to an egg shooting cannon, although that minigame is very weird and out of place (if I am not mistaken, I believe that minigame was originally planned to be pirate themed, see the ost, instead of barbarian).
I do agree with you - there is a lot that I had missed in this video and looking back on it, it would have been good to involve those details. I'll most likely touch on the Fremenniks again in a similar light to my Seren video, in which every quest and detail is explored, mainly had to work with what I had for this one due to illness preventing me from recording anything more.
But the contrast of the Fremenniks and the Barbarians you bring up is really interesting - something I'll add to things I should look into. I appreciate the constructive feedback!
@@Gravitybind Sorry that you are sick. I still think you did a good job and got a Like from me.
The barbarian village lore is pretty consistent between both OSRS and RS3. Their history is detailed by both the man on the barbarian village's watchtower, Hunding, and the second floor of the Varrock Museum. It's a settlement from a great crusade in the early fifth age led by a Fremenik warlord named Gunnar who led an army of anti-runecrafting barbarians. Their crusade had many lasting consequences for Gielinor: The entrances for the runecrafting altars were destroyed (notably this didn't cause the loss of the art of runecrafting, the burning of the Wizard Tower at the hands of zamorakian mages was), The Mage Training Arena we see today in-game is actually the second one, as mainland Barbarian sympathizers destroyed the first one, and most notably and importantly the near complete genocide of the Imcando Dwarves.
@@DroppedMyMarbles Semi-nitpick! I know there's a couple of quests that disprove the idea that Zamorakian mages deliberately destroyed the original Wizards' Tower in RS3, but I can't recall if that's ever been brought up in OSRS - I feel like it has at some point, though I need to dig into just how much lore does/doesn't match up.
@@birdenthusiast5421 Yeah, that's all in the Rune Mysteries rework and Rune Memories quests in RS3. I'd have to do some more reading to be sure, but it sounds like it's less clear-cut what happened in OSRS but the RS3 version of events is relatively close to what the ZMI mage from the Enter the Abyss quest claims happened. In both cases, Barbarian involvement was still the same, their crusades weren't actually related to responsible to the destruction of the first Wizard's Tower.
Congratulations on the sponsor. Hopefully you get paid without having to get people to join. If not, i hope people join.
Weird video to watch considering I had just read the OSRS wiki page for the Fremmenik clan, and a couple of the quests, and damn I'm getting such De Ja Vu from what I'm hearing here.....
