Im already on the Dewalt line and I'm always game for a $100 hand tool. Thanks for the video! This will be great to go get some one-offs when your totally beat. Think if it had a 6-12" or maybe 24" extension between the handle and the pruning blades, that would be another game changer being able to get deep in the trees without worrying about handles spread out. I"m liking where they are going with this.

Nice review! I just ordered one. I currently use a Zenport EP3 with optional pole. It is far less weight, but, it is also corded to battery that is carried in an included harness. I love that tool, but it is a pain to keep switching to other tools like a pole saw or something because I usually need to remove harness of the hand sheers.
So this DeWalt tool looks like a great addition to the tool lineup. Thanks for the review! Always nice to see it in action by a pro before pulling the purchase trigger!

The Makita version of this is pretty dope, it's got an umbilical system so it's light in your hand, and gets in between branches easier, but it is probably going to cost 5 times as many for probably the same cutting power.

1.5" is optimistic, I won't push more than 1", too much stress on the blade and motor/gear. For 0.25" and smaller a good Corona pruner is faster and over 1"another good Corona 30" lopper does it in one shot. 2" and above, mini 6" chainsaw. Have both the DeWalt and Milwaukee at twice the price. The blade on the DeWalt could be better, already developed a nick on the flat side a burr across the cutting edge about 3 hours of use. The DeWalt is brush type, once you see much sparking from the motor don't push it, check the commutator and the brushes. With that said, works pretty good, hope it keeps on working.

I was researching this because I have all DeWalt cordless tools. However, your opening shot made something quite clear to me. This tool will not have the same reach as loppers. I am interested because I am getting older and can't clamp down with loppers like I used to be able to do. Maybe @DeWalt will create an extended version like the chainsaw?? That'd be nice!

unfortunately they only lasted one month. We bought these DeWalt clippers from fleetfarm in Wisconsin, brought them to our farm in Costa Rica where we cut hibiscus and other such tropical stem plants. we did make about a thousand cuts in the first month and that was too much for these backyard clippers. we really like them while they lasted, only hope there's a beefed up version coming soon.
