    The fact this phone is just $150 OFF-contract, #MindBlown. Yeah, it might not be a flagship device with major carriers, but for a prepaid option with great specs, it's almost a must have. Large manufactures (Apple, Samsung, HTC, ect...) really need to take notes on this bezel. Another great video, man.

      Jimmy Jones I doubt Samsung and other companies have a budget phone that's better than the Sharp Aquos Crystal. I have not seen one budget phone that looks better, yet.

  • @EvanNakagawa

    For the price, this phone is absolutely perfect! I'd definitely pick this over the Moto G. I think it would be awesome if Sharp made a higher end version of this phone with a 1080p or qHD display, Snapdragon 805, 3GB RAM and 13 MP camera. And maybe make the back of the device look a little sexier..

    • @martinshoosterman
      @martinshoosterman 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe even a 16MP camera.

    • @AntoniYOwned
      @AntoniYOwned 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm actually looking to pick between the Moto G 2nd Gen and this phone.. do you think this phone is better? I would like an honest opinion because I'm only going to buy a nice phone once for awhile and replace muuuuch later.

    • @snazzy
      @snazzy  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Evan Nakagawa It's true! Sharp doesn't mess around. They have historically made very good hardware. I'd love to see a "flagship" version of this phone. The 720p display is actually really, really great. I'd guess it to be a Sharp panel. You can see the pixels, but it is just really, really pretty.

      Sigh.... they do, the Aquos Crystal X version................ just read it's only going to be available in Japan tho. Big BOOOOO to those of us in the U.S. cuz.. it'd be a no-brainer had that one been here! :)

    It would be nice to have a phone that has a completely edgeless and featureless screen and have no buttons or ports. You could have a dock that cordlessly charges it, just like an electric toothbrush and have a bluetooth adapter for headphones to plug into. The phone would be completely waterproof as well.

    Great looking device, thanks for the great video. I just subscribed today. I think it's the sleeper phone of 2014 so far. Mid range specs but high end looks.... Did I mention... $150 prepaid. I think sometimes we all including myself get spoiled by the high end phones and their specs that we overlook the mid range powerhouses out there.... The first MOTO G anyone? Mid range phones these days in my opinion gives us the best bang for our bucks.... Unless they're overpriced of course lol. Sharp did a great job with this one, for the first time in a long time...on a device here on US soil. Remember the Sidekick LX anyone?? Yep.....made by SHARP.... I thought at the time of its release it was ahead of its time. Great swivel display and the changing Led notification light trackball.... Reminds me of this phones pulsating lights and effects around the edge of the screen. Sharp can add another great device to their book with this Aquos Crystal.

  • @sasuqatchrere2

    Think this was a great way for Sharp to get in to the phone market. They make beautiful TVs and if they can get the display tech from there TVs to there phones and add modern phone specs then I bet they have a home run. Also great Video!

    To the people wanting a GSM version of this, and with higher specs, look into the Japanese version of this.

    Bigger screen even, at 5.5".

    I bought this phone on Boost. It has few drawbacks such as no NFC, speaker that is not loud enough, and only 8gb of storage with 4 available to use. Still for $150 it looks amazing, the battery life is good, and that innovative earpiece that uses the whole screen make this phone a great value.

  • @paulvelazquez1434
    @paulvelazquez1434 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree with the fact that it might not have great specs, but it is innovative using features that some phones don't have. The first iPhone was an innovation and now we have all the phones we use. I wonder what will appear in a year.

  • @omarcorrea
    @omarcorrea 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Its a sexy looking phone. I'm pretty depressed with the lack of innovation in mobile devices from Apple. It seems like their number 1 priority is to just to make it thinner, improve the camera a bit and then just focus on iOS.

  • @martinshoosterman
    @martinshoosterman 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    wow, this is what I was waiting for. I sweer, if it didnt have the bottom bezel, I would not only rate this as the most inovative phone of the year, but also the best, unfortunatly to me I cannot get over that bottom.

    Very interesting concept. Also, when you say that the specs are quite low, I don't really think that's too weak. I have the Moto G and it works near flawlessly with specs much lower than this phone. Nice video, hope it eventually comes in GSM worldwide (even though I probably won't buy it).

    Very awesome, I love the idea but I just feel there *needs* be some sort of bezel that I slide my finger from to do gestures without setting up some sort of alternative.
    I'd love to see a phone that does a sort-of even bezel. Not top heavy, not bottom heavy, but the same width all the way around - kinda framed like a photo in a thin photo frame.

  • @TheWargod56
    @TheWargod56 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can't see why anyone would flame you for saying this is the most innovative phone you've seen this year.
    It looks amazing, the specs aren't that bad, especially if one owns an older phone like the htc desire it's a complete upgrade.
    I would love to know how the harmon kardon speaker sounds, I have a laptop with a pair of them built in and they sound great.
    Awesome overview. (Also I really want to see how your Blue Mo-fi headphones are)

    • @AnimalStomper

    Make the bezels all black and make the screen come up a little bit and curve on the edges, make the screen a little more bigger and QHD (OLed would be awesome), drop nothing less than a mid-range performance processor in there, a nice working camera and you can have my money.
    This kind of phone I would buy purely for the respect for the aesthetics. The LG G3 got my money (when it first came out) for the same reasons.

      I have a moto G generation 2. The only gripe I have is the headphone jack isn't as loud as the iPhone. But it's darn good enough. If your music heavy like me I'd suggest listening to both devices to see which is loudest. And for some strange reason I used a fiio amplifier for the Moto G 2 and it didn't sound any louder.

    It's only downfall is not being completely bezel less top to bottom. That big chunk of plastic at the bottom makes It look like you are holding it upside down all the time. I would be okay without a front facing camera to get one giant glass display. It would look so bad ass.

    Something that has been on my mind for the past two weeks is that I just got an iPhone and it's running ios 8 and alongside I also have the first gen nexus 7. What I've noted that was strange is that when I try to multitask on my iPhone, the app doesn't go back to where it was rather it restarts the app all over again. Can you please explain why? I mean I like iOS but that one thing has been something that I haven't encountered on my nexus 7 tablet. That happens on my windows phone 8.1 too where when I multitask It seems that the app is just an icon. Thoughts on this anyone?

    • @AnimalStomper
      @AnimalStomper 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isn't that normal for iOS?

    • @KabirOberai
      @KabirOberai 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The iPhone can only keep a few apps actually running in the background, and even though all the apps that you have opened are shown in the multitasking switcher, only some are 'truly' running. This means that only around the first five or six apps in your multitasking switcher can be launed back to the state they were in, and the rest are practically links to open apps.

      @mmanda515 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Snazzy Labs does it really suck?? How does speakerphone work (or does it?) Call quality? Love the looks of this phone.... kind of unique compared to other things out there that, imho, all just seem to be looking so similar to each other these days... That being said, the 1 other thing I was really concerned about... was how much of a total PITA having to completely turn over the phone to take front-facing pics or video call... how inconvenient was that to use? The whole sound thing worries me tho.... that's a biggie. =/

    I'd be willing to sacrifice a thin phone for a thick no bezel, no edge phone. With nothing but a screen, why don't we have this today?

      martinshoosterman Doesn't matter. Android isn't as efficient as iOS.

    • @martinshoosterman
      @martinshoosterman 10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Snazzy Labs you mean it isnt as simple. I dont think you understand what efficient means.

    • @tylersimpson2974
      @tylersimpson2974 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Snazzy Labs It's not about efficiency (except for RAM and battery mAH), that would suggest the 1.3GHz dual core A6 is just a couple percent less powerful than the 1.4GHz dual core A8 when in reality the A8 benchmarks quadruple. It's about the fact cores and GHz's aren't the primary concern for a processors performance. It's everything else. The A8 is objectively a more powerful processor than the Snapdragon 801 used in other smartphones.

    • @urquhart77
      @urquhart77 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyler Simpson What he's saying is that iOS requires less processing power to run smoothly and quickly. That means the hardware in an iPhone isn't as vital as it is in an Android phone. In that sense, it is very much - although not entirely - about efficiency.

    • @Appleaddict22
      @Appleaddict22 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, the iPhone 6 may have "2 year old specs" but it still benches more than the Galaxy S5, the LG G3, the Note, or any other smartphone out right now. Specs mean nothing, and that's why "people buy everything from Apple"

    • @gpolenik
      @gpolenik 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      George sure it does, on more compatible apps and an OS that is far inferior to Android.(coming from an iPhone user) Galaxy S5 is kinda buggy that is true.

      if you missed it in the video (2:08) it vibrates the entire display, then all you have to do is touch any part of the display to your ear to hear the other end of the phone call.
