Artists like Within Temptation need to become more mainstream in the USA. People don't know what they are missing.
Couldn't agree more mate. I was introduced to these guys when I went to an Evanescence concert at least 15 years ago. At the concert they were handing out a free demo cd with a couple of Within Temptation's songs on it. As soon as I listen to it I was like "wow! These guys are awesome."

For me it has never mattered. Been listening to them since 2000.

Within Temptation was the band that got me into sympho gothic metal. Been a fan since their first album.
After more than 20 years, this band manages to get even more and more relevant to the metal/rock scene... In times when music gets more and more disposable.. That's amazing! Thank you Within Temptation!

For me, as an old fan, this is pure joy. The darkness in the lyrics, the old aesthetic, the mother earth-heart of everything moves, the witchy vibe, etc.
All that combined, brings me pure joy. Thanks Within for that, and I hope to see more surprises like this
Agree, I exactly the same when I heard this song. It reminds me very much about these albums. It is definitely the bands best albums. Honorary mentions to some of the songs on Hydra though, like "The whole world is watching" and "dangerous".

The soundscape of this song is a return to form. It's drop tuned like Resist, heavy like The Heart of Everything and The Unforgiving, and symphonic like The Silent Force.

Ok, serious Stand My Ground vibes! ✨ Stand My Ground begins with "I can see...", The Purge begins with "I can't see...", she walks into the video looking around in the same way, she wears a similar dress, there is a "podium" in both videos - and for contrast there is rain in Stand My Ground while there is fire in The Purge 🌧 🔥

This is better than their first single from whatever they are going to call this new album but it is still no where near the songwriting of past material. They are too generic sounding with their music since Hydra meaning that they sound way too much like listening to what the mainstream radio stations play for rock radio. Within Temptation use to have their own unique style of metal, whether it was with that gothic and dark mix from Enter or with their symphonic metal mixes in their music with their albums in the 1st decade of the 2000s.

I am stating a fact in that Within Temptation's music was very original and unique but since Hydra their unique and original sound disappeared and now sounds like a majority of the mainstream bland artists on the mainstream radio stations therefore making Within Temptation nothing special anymore. Nothing wrong with stating the obvious.
This gives off Stand My Ground vibes, and proceeds to turn into a cliffhanger.

I've been a WT fan since The Silent Force and I can say: they always try something new. Never repeat themselves. And still being so amazing with the years.
I believe this videoclip had an air from the past.. Reminded it me a bit of "Stand my Ground", the long black dress, the more Gothic look. I definitely loved it. I do miss the guitars and I would Iike a solo!! Other than that I love it ❤️ Welcome back guys!

I've been a fan for atleast 10 years now. They are one of my favourite if not the favourite symphonic band. God blessed the earth with this many beautiful metal bands, WT are one of the best imo.

I don't know if anyone has already commented this, but I was intrigued by the words that appear on the object, kind of a "basin" (I really don't know how to say that in English lol) and the letters that appear on her arm. I managed to recognize the words "Acedia" and "Superbia" and went to research, they are two of the deadly sins in Latin, sloth and pride. The other letters that appear on her arm also match the other sins in Latin (Superbia, Avaritia, Luxuria, Invidia, Gula, Ira, Acedia). I loved the detail of putting it in the music video, which gives an even deeper meaning to the song and the video. Within never disappoints

So, for DnD characters I tend to kind of base them around an inspiration from a song, or at least that's where I get most of my inspiration from. The character this song inspired was named Val, and she was a cultist trying to escape her past. She wanted to be free from their control, free to be herself but always found herself going back to them for help. Eventually, she beat them, breaking her ties to them forever and removing the control their god had over her. Val could finally be herself.
When the game ended that day, I just started crying. I couldn't get those words outta my head. "I just want to be me" played over and over again... It was about a year and a half ago now that I started my transition. I dunno if the band will see this, it'll probably get drowned out but I just wanted to say thank you so much... Whenever I listen to this song, I know I made the right choice.

I had no idea why people were saying The Purge had oldschool WT vibes until I watched this music video. I'm so happy inside seeing Within Temptation going back to its gothic roots with a modern twist. I truly feeling like I'm growing up as this band progresses with its sound. This band has been with me for half of my life, and I cannot wait for it to be a huge part of the rest of my life!
This has nothing close to the roots of WT. Despite its quality, this electronic upbeat and the dance sampling going on behind is like water to wine, in comparison with "Enter" or their 90's sound.

I'm a fan since 1995, saw countless performances... and each time I'm in awe by Sharon's ability to be so wonderfully on key, even with the high notes. And yes, this does get more difficult with age (for men and women alike... although arguably people singing high notes are more susceptible to age). This only makes the compliment more meaningful.

Really have been obsessed with this new track. With each listen I find some new element incorporated into it that I absolutely love and makes me appreciate the song that much more. Sharon really captured the emotions in this song and the cinematic aspect of the overall production really stand out to me. I think my favorite part of the track, for some reason, is in the beginning when Sharon emotionally yells "I can't see." It's beautiful and really sets the tone for this masterpiece of a song. Well done Within Temptation, you never fail to amaze. 💙💜
