Is it bad when most of your build comes in boxes and someone else started a pile?

- Somebody's been here before! We need to finish the job someone else started and fix what another somebody destroyed on this 2018 Ram Promaster city SLT. Most of the engine is in the back of the van and most of the right rear wheel is all over the highway in Vermont. I kind of like this little van even if it is a total PITA to work on. The last one I had was very useful. I keep threatening to keep it as my daily and the afternoon crew is not happy about it! lol

You're a genius. A spare tire. My kids think it's a myth.
Spares have gone extinct! Another species killed off by global warming! So sad! 🤦🏼♂️
Ash trays vent windows full steel hubcaps. 8 track players with cb radios.....what is this world coming to????
@@vehcor I worked for X.... and Had one of these vans. I go through and do fluid and air checks and discovered studs for the spare's bracket and that's it. Called the leasing co. And they didn't know that none of them had a spare. You get a blowout and your SOL.
@@vehcor Too many people *wearing* a spare tire now.
Your sarcasm was turned up to 11 on this one. I like it.
Sarcasm is what makes this channel great!
On the spare tire segment the sarcasm took a term to passive aggressive to kinda aggressive but it was funny
Your sarcasm is the best part of watching your channel!! I love it 😀
Thanks!
@@vehcor I put 2 doors off and on, the front and rear bumpers, a back gate changed all the wiring for airbag sensors on a now nice 2007 Tahoe, all because of you Thank you for your knowledge and videos on the GMC and Tahoe series, step by step made it easy!!!!!!!!!
when's video part 2
Better get a patent on that spare tire idea, along with those special installation tools.
👍🏻😂
That old rim is good wall art for the office
You can't beat the ugly out of that thing, no matter how hard you hit it
The tow truck driver was certainly trying! 😂
Cool you're proper sarky today, this is going to be good.
Thanks!

Thank you for the "Roll off trailer scream" I've come to enjoy them. Relieved the right rear wheel cover was salvaged, badge of courage ? or scar of abuse !
I don’t want to get all the hate comments when I miss a scream like I did the the Explorer video! 😂
Your spare tire rant was dead on. Preach, brother!
Can't believe they dragged it long enough to destroy the wheel
They would have gone further but they had reached their destination.
Scott’s the only guy who can fix what’s left of stupid.
As he said either he was absolutely oblivious or he saw there was no spare tyre and said "to h*ck with it, I'm not getting stranded for this piece of crap". 😁
Wonder if the actual driver drove it like that until they blew the engine. Then the company tried to fix the engine before realizing all the body damage and how much that would cost on top of the engine.
Surely I'm not the only one that noticed it was fully detailed at the end ;) I get it, time, projects, editing etc.
It is still not fully detailed to this day, as it is not done yet.
It's almost stunning the things people do to vehicles. Stunning at first. After 30 years of seeing it I've simply accepted most of humanity is a waste of oxygen.
You read my mind!
It's ok... the plants need the co2. 🤡
Worked w/a guy we called "Jamaal". Was 15 mins late daily and totally clueless. That wheel had "Jamaalitis"
What a concept, a spare tire. You Sir, are a genius, best patent this idea. Love the work & the sarcasm is in line with every good wrench turner.

🤣🤣 yup, ugly as a third cousin.
You are the king of sarcasm, most I have laughed all week. Keep up the good work.

I agree your humor/sarcasm is so appealing and what I look forward to, I love the " scream" pulling off the trailer , I hope expectantly to hear it , the Gnome helping kills me as well as the afternoon crew and your brilliant to boot , perfect videos for me. Please keep up the great work
Thanks for the kind words!
This guy just keeps impressing me with his skills.. having been an auto tech for 10 years and going to school for collision repair, I can say I've met plenty of guys who spend a lifetime trying to get as good as him.
Quick - patent the spare tire idea before anyone else does😂 loved the sarcasm today!
Wow you took the engine out and it cleaned the van !
At one point it was tan from all the dirt!
Extra snark today! What a great surprise!!
👍🏻
Great piece of mildly sarcastic wit about your new invention, the spare tire! Positively brilliant.
I love your comments. I always get a good chuckle listening to them. Thanks
I either offend people or make them laugh. Either way, you are going to hear what I think. lol
@@vehcor thats the best way to be.
This man's sarcasm is a goddamn art form.
Snarky...... .
Recently been in the habit of locating spare tires for new cars that didn't come with one. My mothers last car didn't. Just a compressor and sealant. She got stranded multiple times because of it. Lots of junk cars with spares that have the same bolt pattern. Worth picking up and plopping a new tire on it.
Had a good laugh out of that sequence. Thanks for that.
I would find a spot on the wall somewhere to hang that "wheel" up on. That is something you don't see every day. Thanks for the video!

Upon reading your comment, I removed it from the pile that was going to the scrap yard!
Yea!!! been about to famish for the mental nourishment and absolutely hilarious desert dry humor. Glad to see you Scott really good video.
Thanks for the support!
Never a dull moment! Loved the clean-out of the cab. Looks like the cab was his waste basket. Sure glad you rescued this.
My detailer will appreciate the help. Little does he know I was just looking for the spare change he usually gets! 😂
👏🏻
Bought one of these new in 2001 in van form (Sold as a Fiat Doblo in the UK) had a 2 litre JTD engine and was pretty quick, would put indicated 120+ mph on the clock on a good day. Only problem i ever had with it was a weird electrical problem that would seem to make the engine run on only two cylinders and sound like a bag of nails.. only ever happened twice just before I got rid of it.
Hi, Irish here. Recent convert to the channel. Loving the builds, loving the humour. Keep on doing what you're doing. :-) Really enjoying the builds.
known as a fiat doblo in uk or fix it again tomorrow , the best car repair show on youtube
Fix it again tomorrow! I like that! 😂
Thought it was 'fix it again toni'
@@MrSilverdragonlite That's not WOKE.
quite surprising to learn somebody in the US actually bought a fiat doblò.
3 actually
Over here in uk we only get 1.9 4 pot where this has the 2.4 ducato 3.5t van Engine great build better than new with a your improvement work
Those holes in the rear is for extra brake cooling lol.I agree with you on the spare tire thing..I even hate doughnut spares.I eventually want to get a full size spare for my wife’s equinox
I think you should include Ba Da Bing, Ba Da Boom, in your repertoire. Sometimes hide and seek takes longer than the fix ! Don't be overly critical of yourself, being older means wiser !
I make fun of everything, even myself. It’s ok, I can take it!
@@vehcor I told the nurse 2 days ago the memory is the second thing to go... took her a while.
It's Amazing the Shrapnel damage to the inside fender of the van. That driver was lucky he didn't get hit by any and who knows what else was damaged by it. They guy was also lucky nothing hit the gas tank or else you wouldn't have a great build to do for us. Thanks. My wife didn't believe me that all that was left of the rim was what looked like a dinner plate.
Free freedom unit tape! Yay
Bonuses, just like the chain and chicken bones 😂
I work as a Tow/Recovery/Rescue truck driver. I am often called out to help people change their flats... "I have a spare, but I don't know where the tools are or how to change it", and very often, the spare tire is neglected, out of air, or already used once, and never replaced/patched, and/or and rusted to oblivion... If you are lucky enough to get the mechanism that holds the spare on the car loose in the first place, it usually requires a grinder to clean the contact surfaces, and a brush to clean up the bolt holes.
But at least if there is a spare you can get them going without a tow.
@@vehcor In most cases, Yes. That is true.
Welcome back vehcor..👍👍
Thanks, last week was a little busy for a video.
@@vehcor I'm always looking forward to watching, keep up the great work..👍👍

Great video Scott. Sarcasm was awesome. Anxious for the next one. Have a great day
The wheel cover got me chuckled when he installed the new tire......This channel is dry humor greatness.
Decades ago, a friend had his snow chains break on a rear wheel near Lake Tahoe...kept driving. Many new inspection ports. Told insurance he stopped within 30 seconds of it happening. Perhaps this tow truck driver is his grandson? Look forward to this as not too often you do engine swaps!
I had a tire blow out at 70mph and pulled over immediately. It had already removed the bedside.
This man's sarcasm is pure gold! 🤣🤣
6:45 NOOOOO !!!! That is a work of art. Sign it, Clear Coat it and Sell it.
The original artist would want to be compensated! 😂
I'd definitely hang that on my garage wall.
The Amish folks here pay big money for steel wheel conversions like this!

hello is there a part 2 great job
Figured you where making a trip to pick up a new piece of art to re-work Scott when last Friday was dead air. Total genius with the "spare tire" idea! I would have fired that slob for allowing a work truck to be that dirty-drivers that do not take care of their ride have the same pride with their work
Ethics. But good to see you back and great sarcasm bud. Stay well, cheers! Rich
No, I was doing tax stuff all week so I could find out how much of my money the government needs to give to other countries.
@@vehcor That is just right! Hee Hee! But not due 'till 5-17-21. So, hold on to it for one more month. It is in the console. :
FYI. The multi-air engine use oil pressure to open the valves. Remove fuel pump fuse or put in clear flood mode when you get the new engine in so it will build oil pressure and not fill cylinders with fuel
I always look forward to the scream as it comes off the trailer.
I remember the first scream!
Fridays are my favorite cause I know Scott be busy.
Thanks for the support.
You can do it. Stay safe and be well
Thanks!
At least the the "Boring Build" part is appropriate now....
yup, completely agree about the spare, first thing I did when I bought my 2013 Civic is get a spare.
I think I seen that tow truck driver at the truck stop. He was hanging out with the white Volvo mafia and they all were wearing flip flops and pajamas.
I was thinking it would be easier to just drop the drivetrain out the bottom of the vehicle. Make for an easier install too.
Lift em up lil by lil to check for stuff not disconnected, or let her fly and check items for tinsel strength.
You did a great job my friend, I am a fiat doblo user and I live in Turkey.
It is possible to see a PMC every day here (fiat factory test cars)
that could be your roadside assistance van. LOL it has all the places for your tools to go along on those shelves.
I use them more for delivery vehicles.
I own a 2015 Promaster City SLT wagon one of these. The one with the rear seat. It has most of the options available in 2015. It does not have the backup camera. That is the one option I should have gotten. Overall I like the van. I have been curious about how these go together. (Or come apart). So I am going to be real interested in how the repairs on this one go.
The other video shows quite a bit but it is an old one in time lapse.
I've been saying for over a decade that before getting your driver's license you should be able to change the oil in your car change front brakes and change a tire.
Agreed!
I agree, new vehicles manufactured without even the provisions to mount a DONUT somewhere is un-fucking-excusable.
Everything it there for the spare on these except the spare, hoist and tools. Those are an extra $250 (I believe). lol
@@vehcor Junkyard!
Holy Shit!! Somebody's been here before. Great video.
👍🏻
I am always amazed how people treat vehicles. There is a happy medium between people who worship their cars and those who neglect and trash their cars. A car is a tool. If you polish and shine the tool but never use it for fear that it might get scratched, the tool will never do work for you. If you neglect and abuse the tool, it will fail and leave you stranded. If you respect and maintain the tool it will do work for you for a long time despite showing normal wear and tear.
This car may be a tool, but so was driver judging by state of the interior :-)
Oh my God. Yeah, just plug it. Love your sarcasm.
This might require a patch!
my last company used that same geotab device.. hated that thing
We used to use them in our company cars.
Huge in the lease market.
Scott has some amazing work ethic
You cracked me the f up on this one!! The inside of it totally reminds me of my roommates car!! I swear he lives in his car with all the garbage!! Love your content & keep up the good sense of humor!!
When the wife bought her last new car it only had a compressor and fix a flat can in the trunk. The salesman told me that the spare tire kit was available on Amazon. So I blame Amazon for no spares in new cars.
😂 my G8 had the same garbage!
Looks like a Fiat Doblo to me. Ugly as sin but they make excellent and and really practical drop-side pickups for the European market at least.
They are ugly, a pain to work on but they are quite useful here.
i get to learn and its a friday ! Nice job as always entertaining and educational. I like seeing you do the mechanical stuff too it mixes things up a bit.
I would like to have that OBD2 extension cord.
since you have a low miles engine to put in from the parts car, why not just to the motor and trans as a package?
Next Level G.O.A.T!! Love your sarcasm for all the LAZY DOLTS out there. I have the same problem.🤗🤗🤓
That van's rack is in the back, so European, I feel a goose step and german ascent are inevitable.
That thing crawls! Ewwwwwwuuuu! I am sure that will be a nice little work/contractor truck when you are finished with it. Nice shelves and rack plus good floor liners. It will sell fast.
I have no words on that dumpster of an interior, except wow. I never realized those were FWD but I suppose it makes sense, sort of, if cargo capacity isn't a consideration for a cargo van.
The big dodge vans that are 1500s are also front wheel drive and they will fit this entire van in the back.
Enjoyed that, another very detailed video with a personality.
I love your sarcasm, never ending, best yet,I thought you didn’t like to mechanic on Vehicles, even though you are a mechanic.and you have to do body work.👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎

We're in Ontario under lockdown man.. We need your videos, it gives us freedom thru you! If you skip another video I'll.... I'll probably do nothing but the threat is there!! Hey Mr Spotty's back!
I had to do my taxes to see how much of my money the government needed to send to other countries.

I know I’m a year late. But I used to be a tow operator and I would from time to time double haul. I’m js I’ve had a car on the lift trailing along with a flat… 2 flats actually. Didn’t know it til I got to my destination because my truck was a beast and was LOUD. The ONLY time I looked back was when changing lanes. Even still it was VERY brief to check the blind spots. I had no idea the tire even came off on the one side because it was raining and no sparks were happening. You’d be surprised how often that scenario happens with us drivers. So don’t call a tow operator stupid or lazy. Our jobs are so demanding AND dangerous.
Snarky tire assessment...luv it!!!!!!!
Out of all your builds, this is truly a boring build, so the title "Boring built Friday" is an accurate description. Like all your build I will watch it faithfully every Friday.
Oh look,it's a Opel Combo! Nice!
Wow - you make that look easy!
BTW - I always look forward to Fridays!
Thanks!
I can tell you that the Swedisn Postal Service (PostNord) have these Fiat Doblò (Ram ProMaster City) in there fleet and they drive them until they rear axle falls apart and they just send them off straight to the junkyard.
These things seem to go for a while around here. They are useful but a pain to work on.
Although it's made by FIAT you will be pleased to hear that it's also sold by GM here in the UK.
One more time, a great video..!
Waiting for the next.
OMG A SPARE TIRE!! What.a.genius.idea...
Good to see you. Thanks or the content.
Thanks for watching!
Damn that Promaster has had a ruff life.
No vehicles now a days have a spare tire because no one is competent enough to change the damn thing except for the people that were raised right. It's amazing some people have the competency to even use the leak stop and air pump in the can.
This country just keeps getting dumber and dumber by the minute. Take a look at the President for example. Blind leading the brainwashed
Sketchy Time with Scott! tm Enjoyable as usual.
😂
We had a wall in the compressed room at the dealership I worked for. It was full of abused and f--ked up parts. The best was all the clutches and flywheels from the tuner kids that thought they knew how to drive stick from watching Fast&Furious.
I had a drawer like that in my toolbox!
No idea why this engine failed but those Fiat engines are renowned for having injectors that just stop injecting. It shows when failing to start from cold. And timing chains!
I guess this is one of the products after Fiat bought Chrysler / Dodge / RAM.
This one is a gas engine. Actually not bad for a Mopar product here in the states.
I actually own that same truck. 2018. Came without a spare. Bothered me no end. I gotta get one. I’d like to supercharge it too.
The first thing I sold off my parts truck was all the wheels but one. 😂
@@vehcor ALWAYS keep ONE. Lol. They’re hard to find and ridiculously expensive.
Wow. That van looks like it was driven by someone from Portland!
Just felt the need to add a correction, it isn't because taking the wheels off to inspect the brakes is for peasants, but more the fact when you extend the oil changes (which I know you're a big fan of extended oil changes) there is the chance you will go through 2 or 3 sets of brakes before the next oil change is due.
