I just finished watching your review for the 2nd time just to make sure I took in ALL the info. I now play to buy this headset! Thank you for the amazing review!
I'm so gosh I could help. Good luck with your new headset
How has it been?
Seamless versatility is where you will find the true value of this headset. At its current price its a true jack or all trades.
Love that. Seamless versatility. If I was better with words I might have used that myself
This review is better than all the big tech channels ive seen, thank you very much.
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad I could help
@@FitnessWithFrost i ended up buying the headset lol, dont regret the purchase, amazing headphones and very comfy for me. again thank you for reviewing the item
@TheIronKingXsus I'm glad I could help. Yeah I'm very happy with them as well
Great review man! Just a quick question; I've had the Nova Pros for a month now and I'm starting to feel a little bit of a wiggle on the hinge where the earcups meet the headset itself. Have you had a similar experience to this? I honestly think it might be a breaking point for the headset. You can accidentally make it even looser when extending the headset length because the hinge is getting stretched. I've researched and it seems like a common breaking point on Steelseries headsets. Any experience on this bro? Thanks again
I haven't had this issue myself so I don't think I could speak to this sadly
Decent and honest review, thank you.
I'm glad I could help
Quick question, recently bought myself one, upgraded from an artis pro +gamedac (the first version, wired one) and after using that headset for 2 3 years, the gamedac had severe burn-ins on the OLED screen, have you had similar issues yet with yours ?
best review.this helped me a lot
I'm glad I could help!
Great review, hey when you use BT to a phone, do EQ settings from the base still apply or is that just whats connected via USB?
Did you got answer?
You can only use the EQ with the computer sadly
Okay, just bought a pair, and boy what a headache. Until i read the manual and then it was a breeze. Definitely worth the money and boy does everything sound awesome!
Yeah it is a great buy. It has so many features that it can be a little daunting but I'm glad you are enjoying it
Great video man loved it. Can I use these with Xbox and pc at the same exact time? Having simultaneous audio from console and pc through the headset.
If your PC has Bluetooth I believe you can do it
@@FitnessWithFrost Very cool thank you I appreciate it
No problem. Good luck with everything
I have had a lot of problems with wireless headphones that have software as a prerequisite for their use. A Logitech one years ago and I recently had the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. It's software wouldn't even run after the initial time using it and no amount of messing around or reinstalls fixed it. When you had to install the software to update the hub did you have any issues afterwards that you didn't before. Also can you turn all of it off and go back to the hub on its own with the software still installed for future updates?
To be honest the majority of my use I never used the software. I just did it for the review. You can do the majority of the stuff you need to on the hub
@@FitnessWithFrost Yeah i remember you saying that but when you did have o update it could you go back to no software afterwards? Like an uninstall or somehow shut it off?
I haven't tried to uninstall yet, but that should work
I've been using Logitech G733 for years and been starting to look at a replacement. Thank you for this review, the Nova Pro are one of the sets I'm looking at, was looking at the Logitech Pro X2 wireless, but I've heard the Nova Pro has better sound, which is honestly what I care about the most as I use a desk mic and would only use the headset mic if I'm using them with something other than my computer. Really good in depth review!
Did you buy nova pro wireless bro?
How’s the feeling?
Should I buy it for competitive fps games or there are better options to buy?!
Hope you answer my question❤️
I haven't bought it yet, I try to be tight with my budget and waiting for a good sale, although I might have to do it sooner than later as my Logitech G733 seems to be having the audio issue that's been going around with their headsets by emitting a loud high pitch noise.@@GhostAMIRR
What did you buy
Hi, Im considering to purchase the new white Xbox version.
Do you know if I would be able to use a USB switcher/HUB o similar product, so that I could have even more things connected beside my Xbox?
I don’t mean to use them all at once, but so I don’t have to disconnect the USB cable from the PS5 and connect the PC all the time.
I've been using these on my Pc with GG software and Sonar EQ and its absolutely amazing! Horror games like Callisto Protocol and Dead Space with these phones and the righ EQ elevates the experience to another level.
I might need to try that out myself. I really haven't used these to the best of their abilities yet
@@FitnessWithFrost try to play with the Spatial Sound and other settings in Sonar, you won't regret!!!!
Thank you Leonardo!
It's nice to hear that software can work. I had a Logitech a couple years ago that made me go wired lol. And more recently the Turtle Beach Stealth Pros that wouldn't even load up.
Did you get the Xbox one or the other one
How are the ear cups holding up over time? Vegan leather tends to peel after a while. Any peeling or pieces missing?
I haven't had any issues at all. I might get new cups thought because like I said in my review my ears are a bit wide and there are some good replacement ones that can fix it rubbing my ear a bit
im not sure why they make a ps4 version and an xbox version if the xbox version works on both devices. Also how is the bass on these? I have a razer kraken pro headset and im trying to find something that has haptics like that with noise cancellation
thanks for the review, just to make sure it works on iphone by bluetooth right?
I'm glad I could help. Yes it works through Bluetooth
Weird question. The Arctis pro wireless I had that came with the Bluetooth feature, when connected to my iPhone, would constantly beep when playing things on Bluetooth, making the entire feature essentially useless to me. Does this do the same thing?
I didn't have any issues on my end, but I do have an Android
are hinges for the strap metal? (the pointed like nipple on the headset )
Wicked Cushions make some great pads for these which can help with the ANC mic bit and are pretty comfy to boot
Yeah I'm thinking about getting some new ones
@@FitnessWithFrost bought wicked cushions pads one month ago (those with the cooling gel) and man, it's day and night when it comes to comfort. The pads does change the sound a little bit but tweeking the EQ (in sonar or on the dac) will solve this. i wasn't bothered by the anc thing and with bigger pads i definitively wont be.
Pretty sure I'm going to get some of those soon
Hey, a month late, but would it still be worth buying it? Do you have any other wireless headset suggestions maybe? I’m looking for really anything, the price isn’t a big deal unless it’s 400+ dollars.
What is going to be your use case for the headphones
@@FitnessWithFrost Im fine now, I thought about getting something cheaper, like the Nova 7 wireless. I got them and compared to my old arctis 5 their build quality seems solid. I use them mainly when listening to music on my phone (bluetooth) and with gaming on pc. The audio quality honestly isn’t anything crazy, it’s just decent. The bluetooth on pc is a bit delayed, which is a bit weird but other than that it’s good (a reason why I just use the dongle). For 160$ I think it was a good deal.
Well I'm glad you found something you enjoy. These are definitely not cheap
Is it just me or does that mic sound terrible compared to the main video audio?
Yeah it's definitely not great. I know you can mess with the mic EQ in the software to have it and better though
@@FitnessWithFrost agreed. I dont own the nova pro but i did see some examples that compare EQd and normal versions and EQ doesnt sound bad ngl
Still expected more from a 350 dollar headset though ngl
Edit: also the wired version has a better mic somehow. Dunno why but yeah, kind of a weird thing
Good to know. Thank you Error
@@FitnessWithFrost thank you to you too for the high quality video, it was really well done ngl
@@Error-33 that’s just how wired vs wireless headsets work. Wired headsets will always have a better mic because they have a direct connection to the device
Does it have a chat / game volume mixer so you can change whether your game is louder than chat or vice versa on the fly?
yes you can do it through the gamedac
For ipad does it lose its strength features eg noice cancelaltion?
Just to add, sidetone is a feature that let's you hear your own voice via your mic played through your headphones.
It's incase you talk louder when you can't hear anything (almost everyone does)... So you're aware how loud you are.
Are you still using this? Has the plastic hinges not failed?
is it me or the mic does not sound so good as I was hoping it would? Correct me if thats not the case
yea naw the mic is ass
yea yea man
😁
Hey i heard that you get 16 bit instead of 24 bit on the Xbox model when you are playing on the pc. Is there a thing such as that, which one should I get for pc gaming?
It's that important to you? I'm not sure if the top I would have to check on that
Hmm? I don't see why that would be a thing
You get 24 bit on pc using the Xbox model
which ones are better for gaming? Wired or wireless?
I love how you didn't wipe the base station after each B-roll and it's covered in fingerprints.
Does it look bad on video? Yes, but it shows that you will have to take care of it from time to time.
As long as you're not stealing these fingerprints at any point. But point definitely noted
@@FitnessWithFrost *gulps* Naaaah...
Seriously, really good review.
I'm watching you! Lol thank you for the kind words
How do I update the headphones if I don't have a computer
How do you get it to go to 24 bit mine is 16 bit fresh out the box
Ive had a issues lately where this. Headset will literally blast me with static and i cant fix it unless unplugging it then it fucks up my mic
Have you tried contacting steel series?
Great Video! i got recommended to buy this from a couple of people i know as they have the steel series headset version below this one do you know if they would be good for Discord calls? is it worth the £329 price? idk if its a risk to buy this headset? is it good for gaming in general? any help i appreciate it! :)
It is definitely great overall but the mic quality isn't the best. How important is mic quality to you?
@Fitness With Frost the mic quality needs to be good enough so people can understand me, is there any way you can tune the mic quality so it could sound better?
In the software EQ you can have it sound better. If your looking for amazing mic quality the new razer headset really hit it out of the park. The mic on this isn't bad enough where people can't understand you, but at this price it should be better
@Fitness With Frost thats understandable if i get this headset is it definitely worth rhe £329 pounds? I currently have the razer blackshark v2 pro wireless i love them ive had them over a year i game everyday with people but its getting to a point where after a couple hours for me personally the headset gets so uncomfortable on my right hand side and its why im looking for another headset! I want to buy one where it will last me years
I would say yes with the only difference in how comfortable they are is if you have wide ears like me. My ears tend to rub a little on the edge so I have to adjust every so often. I haven't heard many complaints about it, but I do have wider ears
Would this work with PC + Mac? I'm looking for a headset that I can use on both my Mac and PC.
yes you can connect to Mac with bluetooth
That’s one of the best mic ever.
Hey Hey! I have been going between corsair virtuoso or steelseries arctis nova pro wireless i cant choose which one to get, which one would you get?
I wish I could give you a more in detailed response to this, but from the research I did this is really one of the best. I didn't get my hands off the virtuoso so I can't really speak to that too well
Are the Hinges on earcups any better than previous steel series headsets? as they seem to always break at where it connects
I haven't had any issues myself
Is the mic quality really as bad as it sounded when he enabled the mic on the headset?
There are settings that I sadly did not get into that make the mic quality a lot better. That's my fault
How is the earpiece? My arctis pro wireless headset earpiece broke within 6 months with the same design as this one.
Still no issues with mine
How do these compare to the Astro a50s?
Everyone I play with says I have an echo please help how do I remove the echo guys I have the wireless version I believe it’s the PlayStation version
I have the wired and have been struggling to get the mic to work
On PC?
did I hear the Xbox variant works with the PS5 but not the other way around?
That is correct
I heard there is a better bit rare on the PS5 version. But the reason you need a specific type for Xbox is that they have a different interface so companies need to make things specifically for it.
I love the headphones. I use mine for everything from movies, gaming, tv, music, and just using my phone. I will admit the mic is not the best.
right out of the box, one battery will not charge, the charger sees it, but it will not charge. not sure how to fix that, I will probably go exchange it
I experienced this exact same thing. One of the batteries does not charge right out of the box.
So the XBOX version does work with PS5 and PC? That’s awesome if so..
That is correct
Yes that’s correct I just bought and tested mine however this is important you can’t change the volume between chat audio and game audio from the mixer it’s only on Xbox
@@iGeoboy Thanks - i got them and they are amazing! I never use chat so it will be okay for me. I love these so much
Thank you for more great information @iGeoboy
I bought these for use with my series x and found them kinda lacking for the money, even Dolby access wasn’t much of an improvement.
however………I recently built a monster gaming rig and with a firmware update and Sonos these things have come alive on pc
You need to install the gg software otherwise they turn off after 1 minute of non use.
And the dac will stay forever illuminated.
The app is not well designed or intuitive, literally clicking on everything till you find things like changing those settings.
Do like it can display gpu, cpu, ram and thermal data.
How's the sound quality of these compared to the wired version?
I have heard the sound quality is a little bit better, but you would need to have an ear for that type of thing. I have also heard the Mic quality is a bit better as well
@@FitnessWithFrost appreciate the reply! Thinking I may go wired to save the money but not totally sure quite yet. These seem to be amazing headsets though.
If you ever want to use it as a Bluetooth headset for your phone I would probably recommend the wireless. It's nice to have all of the ways to use it
So does the headset mic work wireless with the xbox and dac connected to the xbox only? Or do you still need a jack connected to the xbox controller
If you have the dac connected you are good
are these the best for ps5 and can i use chatmix on these thanks
If you want to use the chatmix you will have to buy the PS5 version
I think the mic would probably sound better without noise suppression. Ive never used noise suppression before just because it makes everything sound so nasally.
Im thinking about these or the sony xm5,s still can decide
What are you going to use them for mostly?
You have the mic on the lowest quality, it's a single slider under 2.4g mode, you can see it when you are going through the menu at 5:24. May be costing yourself some referral links. ;)
Yeah I definitely made a bit of a mistake on that. Later in the video it seemed to have fixed itself, but yeah I wasn't too sure about it. Thank you for the comment about it
That mic is absolutely god-awful lol
After messing with the settings it is a bit better, but you really shouldn't have to do that
I didn't sound like that when I send voice messages to someone...
I should mention I have the PS5 version. I'm not sure there is a mic difference.
I've been told I kind of messed up a bit with my mic. I haven't heard anybody I play with complain about my voice on the mic
@FitnessWithFrost Ohhh I see.
Im having issue of mic being super low gain ;(
What are you using it on and have you tried to contact Steel series
tried support didnt send anything yet@@FitnessWithFrost
Thanks for the vid. Was it just me or does the mic sound pretty awful?
Definitely not the best mic quality. I know you can go into the EQ and make it sound better. If you saw the new razor headset that came out. That has amazing mic quality
What is the wireless range like?
8 to 10 meters but walls will shorten it.
I literally ordered a pair been wondering for past few months whether to get them or not but seem pretty good
I don't think you will be disappointed
@@FitnessWithFrost are they better then the A50?
@skeetskeetonu6928 the A50 will be a little bit more comfortable and better mic performance. But you get more customization and wireless with the Nova Pro Wireless, so it's up to you what is more important.
@@FitnessWithFrost because I have the a50 I just did not want to get if itss not a upgrade that’s all
@@skeetskeetonu6928 i have the A50 and also struggeling. i have nothing more then problems with the A50. no charging, not connecting sometimes. at the moment it won't charge at all. but to be honest. the A50 is the best headset i ever had sound/dolby/comfort. its dubbel to change, but the frustration is so big i won't buy another A50
Literally best headphones I’ve ever bought
I love them too. Considering getting different ear cups
Mine won't work on my PC or Xbox after a few months won't connect anymore checked all settings reset over and over checked plugs and more now I'm sure the headset is trash
Have you tried connecting something via Bluetooth?
If you can't use sonar then I couldn't recommend this headset. You really need sonar to bring this headset out. It sounds great once you get dialed in though
I’m always seeing people comparing these to the Astro a30’s and the Blackshark V2 Pros, and I think they’re smoking something. This mic is absolutely awful in comparison. I’d personally rather take a slight dip in audio performance, and have an above average mic. Not to mention 350 bucks? Yeah no thanks. SS is way off when it comes to mic quality which is a shame because if they focused on that a bit more these would be the cats ass.
The mic quality on the new razor is out of this world good. But I agree at this price point that mic quality isn't acceptable
I think he recorded when connected via bluetooth which is why it sound awful. There are reviewers who demonstrate the quality difference between BT and Wireless mode.
I've seen those as well. I actually never connected the headphones via Bluetooth to the computer, but that would have been a good test
" I am not a audio file " 03:30
Man that mic preview is probably worst the my quick cam from 1998
they are the best
I am enjoying them a lot
😎👍🏼
I'll take that as a compliment
This headset is a B in sound quality and a D in mic performance. It's an A+ in other features - that's why it's $450 CAD - you are paying for the features not the audio performance.
When switching batteries, does it make promp sounds? BATTERY IS OUT/ HEADSET IS OFF .. or something stupid like EPOS and LOGITEC.
Does the headset scream random bullshit about whats going on ? turn on/ off ?
Also holy crist that mic is kinda disgusting for a 500$ CAD headset.
Thanks for this review, because fk this headset !~
It will start beeping in the headset. You only get like 2 minutes before it's fully off
I never use mics from headsets lol, so that’s a plus for me. I have two separate mics that I use, the HyperX Quadcast and the Yeti Blackout mic. Idk I’m just looking for pure audio and functionality quality. I’m still surprised people use mics from headsets still
I used multiple Arctis nova pro and everyone has terrible audio and voice chat.
Wow that's really weird. I haven't had one issue. What do you mean by terrible voice chat?
@@FitnessWithFrost I used the base station on the PS5 and when I'm playing games. it sounds like static lag and you can't hear the cutscene. This may be a mass effect legendary edition problem. Some games don't have it but most game sound bad.
That is weird. I used it for Hogwarts and Rust and God of War and no issues on my end
Anyone got settings for cod just got it today
Definitely try and Google it. Shouldn't be too far before you find some good setting recommendations
Try the presets that are in sonar
Also a solid point
At first, that was the worst sounding mic I had ever heard.
Same I was very surprised. It was better, but definitely not top quality
mic is so terrible
wow everything about this looked great until you got to the microphone, the sound quality was 100% ass and the durability of that mic looks questionable af
tin cans vs maxwell
What do you mean?
@@FitnessWithFrost LOOOOOOOOOOOOL
It's that a coffee reference? Sorry I'm not picking up what you're putting down
@@FitnessWithFrost DANCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PuPPET!
I'm glad you are enjoying yourself
i just got it for $140
4:42 is this a joke? the mic sounds unusable. omg even at this price
Does tech reviews. Never though of doing tech review....
they are to small
That mic quality was absolutely awful.
It does get better when you fiddle with it. But at this price point you really shouldn't have to
@@FitnessWithFrost that's what I was thinking. Seems to be that everything out there has massive flaws in one of the three departments it should nail all 3 on.
Either they sound great, feel like shit or feel like shit and sound great.
Then the ones that feel and sound great cheap out on the mic haha.
You're pretty much spot on. I don't game too much so I don't need the solid mic quality, but I would be much happier if it did have it
Omg the mic quality for such expensive headset... 😂🤢🤢 skip
Sorry, but I had to stop watching at "sidetone: not sure what that is". That does not sound like a good choice of words when reviewing headphones.
I did preface the review saying I'm not an audio file or big into headphones. I was giving my opinion based on my knowledge. I would have thought that was clear if not I'm sorry
@@FitnessWithFrost Nah, I am sorry for the criticism. I was looking for a different type of review. In any case, I watched yours and I find the user experience you are presenting helpful.
No worries. I hope my little bit of knowledge could help you a little bit
Don't buy this for 350 bucks, trust me.
Not a fan?
@@FitnessWithFrost The quality isnt worth for 350 bucks. The drivers are buggy, the mic is dog 💩 .
What would you recommend in it's place
@@FitnessWithFrost It depends on person to person, I'd get the Audeze Maxwell just because it has been durable for me and the customer service has been good. Steelseries on the other hand is a disastrous experience. Atleast it has been for me.
Microphone is absolutely horrible for this price.
Have you all been brainwashed; This by FAR the most over-hyped, over-priced product I have EVER used. The sound over bluetooth is nothing short of terrible when connected to a phone, I get that it's not going to sound too amazing because it's not going through a DAC, but there is now low range/base at all, it's just...tinny sounding.
It was a struggle getting any audio configured through the quite frankly TERRIBLE software, every time I goto make a change to Sonar in the GG software it crashes. It's dogshit and the sound even through the DAC again, where the hell is the bass? it's none existent.
In short this is going back, I literally lived because of the cost of this headset, it is very, very expensive and quite clearly a scam. Avoid this like the plague.
What a terrible mic, I almost buy this headset but your video saves me for waste money
Another sellout who dont open the stuff to see if they have improved the build quality from it "ancestor" the arctis pro, wireless, arctis 7, arctis 9 etc which they have not so you will still have the signature failure break, the stupid joint break between the earcup and headrest.
Stop doing your reviews half, do them properly.
Do you not hear what I said at the beginning of the video and why I did it? Who this review was for? Glad you feel so confident in yourself to go after other people online but please see context before getting so toxic
I call all reviewers who do not include build quality or open it up for a visualisation of the build quality, because this is, in my eyes, what a review must contain, it is probably the most important part of a review, it will give you are some sort of a build quality and how long it will last.
Because why does sound quality matter if the product breaks after a few months.
And unfortunately, steelseries have NOT been about build.quaæity the past 8 years. I have had 4 arctis pro wireless, and all broke the same way no matter how careful i was, and now i have had the NOVA pro wireless as well broken the exact same way, so i am in a war against "Stealseries". They take premium price for premium sound but lazy and bad build quality, and unfortunately NP reviewers points out the negative, why is the reason i call reviewers "Sellouts" who dont add this part.
I was not attacking you, its just my way to speak. Sorry if you felt it as a attack, a combination of my english (i am danish) and that text can be hard to "listen" the tone its meany to be.
And no, ive seen your review 2 times now, and I really do not hear that you clarified the "who or why".
😊
That is my fault for not clarifying the who and why. I any use this headset for gaming and editing with some music. I meant to add into the video that I'm primarily a fitness tech channel and I wanted to give my thoughts on this headset. But I understand where you are coming from and I appreciate the feedback
@@FitnessWithFrost sure thing no worries, i might been to fast on the judgemental part :)
Have great day nevertheless
