- You've never seen a 700cc 2 Stroke Dirt Bike ridden like this before! We let one of the worlds best big bore MX riders take the Megalodon 700 for one wild ride. Neville Bradshaw shreds 500cc dirt bikes like no nobody else, so we thought he'd be the perfect man to try and tame our 700cc motocross beast!

I'd put $$ on a 125 with a big bore kit. On a track like here...a fast 50 year old on a 125 say Kevin Walker, or Mike Brown.

Any chance you can do a comparison between the 700,500 & a modern 450, just so I can nerd out a bit on this. I’d love a blast of the 700 just to see what it’s like in a field! Anyway, that was a great video and well done on the build 👍
There honestly isn’t that much of a difference, the extra cc doesn’t do that much really, makes it a lot more torquey, and it seems to be set up really well, but it wouldn’t be much, if at all, faster than a new 450, especially around a track, and the 500s are slower around the track then the new 450s, I use to dream of owning a 500 until finding out it’s not an even crazier version of a yz250/cr, it’s closer to a 4 stroke with the fact you can lug it and it’ll still pull hard
Just because there a 500cc I have had a few a 93 kx 500cc and cr 500cc and I have seen a built 250cc give them 500cc a run for there money its a lot in the way you gear your bike like more teeth on rear sprockets will give it more take of power and run like hell on a small track and its got a lot too do who s riding the bike sometimes believe it or not a slower bike with the right rider will out ride and beat a fast bike I run 110 vp racing fuel luv too gear it just right don't have the 2 500cc any more running a rm 250cc with everything new on it including building the stock 97 rm 250cc bought it for 2000 dollars in 2010 never had been rebuilt only thing it had done was a pro circuit pipe and baffle redone entire motor had cylinder replated put new sprockets front and rear sprockets and chain new dunlop tires boysen racing reeds runs better than new with a little money invested in bike well worth it would do it again put hour meter on it after rebuild has 15 hours on bike since 2012 not rode all the time very little luv riding my other 2 strokes dirt bikes forever great video of that 700cc it's a beast best too all of you and your rebuild in the future wish you the best take care
@@michaelholden8667 most people who ride 450f’s would be quite a bit quicker around the track on a 250f, it’s definitely a lot to do with the rider, but there’s videos out there of a car 500 AF vs a new Ktm 450sxf, and it was almost equal every single test race they did (they switched bikes for every run per race so it was even)
450 is much faster
Yeah the 700 would be more powerful and torqy but a modern 450 would definitely give it a run for its money, set up especially for racing and yeah it would be a pretty good race, 500s and 700s are almost 4 strokes lol

That was an enjoyable 10mins 🤩 suspension looks like its working well, keep an eye on that old berg frame they flex alot around the headstock .. especially with nev at the helm 😁

@@999lazer I have one of the Spondon modified berg frames that they used in supermoto back in the day it's heavily braced around the headstock,swingarm pivots and frame rails if you ever want to copy it let me know 👍

That exhaust remind me of the old whale pipes back in the days. I’m across the pond in the states and we had the pleasure of riding a service 500 in the #24hrChallenge in Maplesville Alabama and that thing with the rocket, I can only imagine with the 700 is like you lads did a great job with the build
@Andy Street What did you think of the Service Honda? I have had the pleasure of ripping one a few years back and it was the experience of a lifetime. I've rode big bore 2T bikes all my life (well after 12 years old anyway) I had the cr 480s and yz 490 machines 2 or 3 different KX 500s of different years and more 250s than I can count and nothing comes close to the Service Honda 500AF bikes.
The funny thing is that a 500 in an AF is comparable to the weight of a 250 in a Chromoly Steel frame only with twice the torque and ponies. It was scary fast and that front wheel doesn't stay planted under power very much Lol! I found it to be awesome for rhythm sections because if you timed it just right you could skip right across the tops on the rear wheel so easily and much like Nev on that 700 you could power steer it like no tomorrow.
I wish that Honda and the rest of the gang would build modern 500 2T machines in AF using fuel injection tech. They skipped out too early for the thumper engines. Truth is they can get better emissions out of a 2T using fuel injection than they can with a four-stroke and gobs more power. The other thing is instead of using spark plugs and antiquated ignition they should look towards plasma arc ignitions for a fuller and cleaner burn. If you gonna charge 15k for a monster MX bike make it well worth the consumer's while. Smiles for miles after you clean your shorts out anyway.

There are a few points where it looks like the bike is about to get away from him. Serious kudos for being able to reel that thing back in. I love how throughout the video you can watch him progress and get more comfortable, and ballsy on it😂

As Nev said...the inertia can be a problem going into the bends...it doesn't shut off properly...just wants to carry on!..I remember riding a British built Wilcomoto in the 80's,that was the same

Hey Max ask Nev if he was a bit confused as to whether he was MX or flat track racing? He looked like he was doing a bit of both for how that thing was cornering on some of the flatter corners. It is crazy to see a bike digging that deep and still drifting corners.
I will say this if I were to race against that bike it would have to be with one that was more powerful and faster because anybody caught behind that machine eating Nev's roost is definitely hating their life. That thing is slinging clods of earth the size of tennis balls for 40 to 60 feet coming through them turns. Chest protector or not that is going to be a painful second place ride LOL! Great display, thanks for sharing this with us.
Hell yeah we wanna see Bradshaw race the seven hunna. A few tweaks and it will blow 450's into the weeds.

I want to see this beast in some desert racing! This is a Baja machine. Didn't the KX500 win several years in a row? 700cc two-stroke heck yeah give us a GPS top speed run!
From what i know the KX500 was the king of the desert! Our only problem is the distinct lack of deserts in the UK! We'll definitely try and do a few top speed runs this year though. Thanks for watching dude

@@999lazer You gotta get over to the States and do a video from Kaplan Americas museum, now that will be entertainment, tell him to get ALL THE 500 STROKER'S out for a session and acceleration RACE.
Wow I was at minute 3 something when you come off that big jump landed on the back tire and a higher gear and throttled it and it did not chatter it did not bulk it just grunted and back on the pipe.... You must have one hell of a rider he's making that thing look as nimble as a 125.... There in that one particular spot where he was completely off the throttle and all you can hear was the rear drive chain slapping in the guide no funny engine noises nothing just under pure power with no odd surprises..I've never heard a two stroke dirt bike run that good..... Except a few years ago one old cr500r that we spent several hours packing on the flywheels until we had both ends of the crankshaft spinning with zero run out on both ends at the same time I swear that's what you did to this when you get sound like it does cuz that's the only thing that'll do it ... If you're off by only 0.001 in which is well with in specs ... A big bore anything two stroke When a big bore to stroke is idling brand new around the creek from the factory there will be a little bit of piston chair and kind of a ringing sound when you wrap it.... If you exaggerate that run out on a computer animation it makes the connecting rod that's a wrist pin end trying to do a figure eight As the connecting rod goes through this top dead center to bottom dead center and back to top dead center if you got a crankshaft that's just off a hair it'll it'll make that rod wiggle in the center back to side to side ... It's my theory that when you see the pen bearings on the bottom end of the rod or goes around the crank journal when you see those tapered when they're worn tapered so the rods flopping side to side a lot that's cause the crank was out of Truth by only a couple thousands
That's how it should sound. Balls to the walls. Rear end swinging.

No disrespect to Nev, Edd or anyone else mad enough to ride that bike but there is only one man that should be riding that and that is Dave Thorpe. Whether Honda or Dave for that matter would be happy to let it happen is another thing!
