I did speedo 311 km/h with my regular GT4. What has limited yours can be the wing setting as well as the outside temperature of 24 degrees. Also, I had the impression that my GT4 was fully capable after 8-10k Kilometers. I know, that‘s a lot but just describing my impression. I addition, I only fueled 102 octane.
My wing was in standard (I was said low-drag road ) setting. The engine stopped pulling after it rit 305 kph just as with an electronic limiter. Fuel used 98-102 octane only so it does not make a difference as the 102 is a 98 PB in fact ;)
The reason your GT4RS doesn't go faster is clearly the GT3. According to the Porsche website, the GT4RS can go 315 km/h and the GT3 can go 318 km/h. This is not much difference, and I think Porsche absolutely wants to avoid a GT4RS overtaking a GT3. So they played around with the electronics.
You may have a strong point there, so it would be nice to see any official response from the Porsche itself as my case is clearly not alone, especially looking at the comment section😃

Driving with him to Spa Francorchamps sitting in the back seat of the 997 Carrera 4s. when he opens up the throttle in the twisty corners of the road and the beautiful noise that i heard right behind me back then. If car was stock from factory, you must adjust your wing one click down which allows for a cleaner airflow and higher top speed. It’s got 5 clicks on the adjustment and you’ve got 3 up and one down from factory settings. Try this and make another video.i live far from the autobahn and almost solely drive it on tracks so I’ve got mine set to highest downforce mode front and rear.

I have been driving hundred-thousands of kilometres on the Autobahn with GPS speeds up to 343kmh with my tuned ZR1 but I’d never suggest to allow yourself a difference in speed of more than 50-100kmh max. to the next lane drivers. If you kill yourself, fine with me but don’t mess up the life of others. And, as already written here, a lot of your manoeuvres are just illegal….
That's pretty surprising since speedo advantage at 300+ tends to be around 15+ km/h. So that would mean the speedo would have to show 330. Maybe Porsche took into account to prevent all the surgery bills to repair customer´s hearing abilities that would have been caused by the insane resonant noise of the GT4RS engine in that maximum rpm region;)
The reason is the wing setting on the rear. If the wing is set to high it will have to much drag. We had one for a weekend and played around with the wing settings a bit. If you set it to the lowest settings you will get to around 312 kph. At least that’s what ours did that day
If you want to try again then very early on a Sunday morning will provide an opportunity with less traffic. But to answer if Porsche installed a top speed limit electronically it would also be important to research where a good long downward slope exists and then get up to the highest possible speed just before reaching the downward long slope to see if the slope helps you get to a higher speed. If not then there is an electronic limit.
I don't think it's electronically limited in any way, it's simply lack of power for more speed. Very little head wind is needed to increase the air resistance (drag). If you're going 300 km/h and there's 20 km/h head wind, the drag is the same as 320 km/h and no wind at all. The same with the uphill/downhill - even a very small incline will affect the top speed significantly.
All of the above may have an effect on the top speed but it’s weird that not only mine GT4 RS did not get to the 315 (at least on the clock)🧐. Btw wind was nearly non existent on that day😉
@edimbukvarevic90 In this video I drive on the downhill section as well, but you may not see this, beacause ot the lack of perspective that the camera ususally does ;)

Best to have maximum downforce when you drive over the crappy autobahn. Loads of bumps: devastating crashes can be viewed on YT. Fast cars are not design to drive fast: they are designed to go fast.
The car was over 4000 km during this run, so I guess it was enough to get a proper result especially when the oil had been changed after the run-in period ;)
Totally different cars IMO. The 4 RS gives a feel of occasion behind the wheel due to the airbox right behind your ears, however GT3's (both 991.2 and 992) are a bit harder to drive, but more rewarding when doing it right. Would love to have both GT4 RS and the GT3 sitting side by side in my garage one day ;)
Your gtr4 rs(just like the others) has a speed limiter, which cut a bit of power just over 304kmh in seven gear. They made this back then purposely due to the gt3 and, most of all, the new gt3rs.
The guy at the dealership told me the wing was set by the factory to the most drag efficient position. On the front as far as I know there are not any elements to play with. Suspension settings were standard as well🤷♂️

Sorry! U need to take the speed in both directions. 20 km/h wind or a percent of gradient can have this influence. At the end I woul drive the A38. There is really not that much traffic!
I explained in the video, that I did not use GPS device this time, however earlier measures shower the usual lower readouts so 306 km/h on the speedo equals to around 300 km/h GPS
I think there is no other option than giving the slow car back 😂. Apart from that, please use our race tracks for top speed runs. Some people drive there with families 😉
The tracks are not supposed to be a top speed run destinations. Derestricted long stretches of roads are. As long as people drive carefully and regulations are in law there is no reason for You saying so. Much much more people die because of drunk or tired drivers than because of high speed on the autobahn. Please keep that in mind🙂
You paid for it. Divide the price of the car by 315 kmh = price per 1 kmh. Multiply the price per kmh x10 (there are 10 kmh missing), that is the amount Porsche owes you, I think +/- 5000 bucks
You should simply take it to Porsche dealer and ask them to fix it. They indicate a top speed, and it should do it. If it does not do it it is a malfunction.
2:57 pls read the stvo for german highway. He could not see you on the curve. And you drive to fast for this situation of many cars on the highway. And flashing is a crime

@@PetrolBeast but flashing light is coercion if you do it more than one time that you do. And you have pixelated your number plate, which has certain reasons
May be you have RPM / software restrictions. Here in California, I needed to bring in my Cayman GTS for a "recall" and got a software installed, that I believe caps performance / emissions. Without this software, you cannot renew your car registration - so it is governmental enforced. "go green policies" are making everyone's life more miserable.
These kind of speeds are really testing any car's safety limits. Speeds might be limited if tyre pressure not correct, or insufficient downforce on the wing etc. Did you read the manual...? Alternatively, did you try 6th gear.
6th gear as You can see ended below 300 kph. Tire pressure was spot on what the Porsche says in the manual, and the rear wing was set to "low-drag road setting" according to the Porsche dealer ;)
There must be a reason for this. I am probably yet to discover what, but I could definately feel that this car could go more but suddenly stopped accelerating...
De-Restricted does not mean you should drive dangerously (passing other cars in the lane next to you at 100-200km/h speed difference, using your high beam signal, overtaking on the right side... you really feel entitled, do you?). You drive irresponsibly in in busy evening traffic. The other commenters who are telling you the same are correct by the way. If everybody around you is an a******, then maybe the a****** is you. ;)
Thank You for the constructive criticism, but as the road conditions were preety much ideal I was able to go this fast. The traffic was really low for this road, so I had a go within the limits of the law ;) High beam is a warning for others of a high speed moving vehicle. If You ever used to go above 200 kph You should have know this, as this may save You and others life. People just do not use rear-view mirros on the highway because they think they do not have to if they go straight. This is just plain wrong behaviour whatever speed You are doing - always check your mirrors :-)

The car was over 4000 km during this run, so I guess it was enough to get a proper result especially when the oil had been changed after the run-in period ;)
As much as you love the GT4RS, how would you compare this to 991.2 and/or 992 GT3?
Totally different cars IMO. The 4 RS gives a feel of occasion behind the wheel due to the airbox right behind your ears, however GT3's (both 991.2 and 992) are a bit harder to drive, but more rewarding when doing it right. Would love to have both GT4 RS and the GT3 sitting side by side in my garage one day ;)
Your gtr4 rs(just like the others) has a speed limiter, which cut a bit of power just over 304kmh in seven gear. They made this back then purposely due to the gt3 and, most of all, the new gt3rs.
Question is: Why then they just indicate top speed at 304kph?😅
Do the same test with 0 degrees outside and it will do 320
On CUP2’s I’ll probably sh** myself to death during the process😂😂
Completely agree👍
Perhaps the extra passenger @70-80kg makes a difference?
At the acceleration definitely, but I am no so sure about the top speed run🧐
i wonder if the front and rear wings need to be adjusted to prevent the down draft like the gt3, relax them and try again
The guy at the dealership told me the wing was set by the factory to the most drag efficient position. On the front as far as I know there are not any elements to play with. Suspension settings were standard as well🤷♂️
@@mathiasbuhler8965Mine goes even faster with mid aero at the front and max in the rear than in this vid. 9k km with Manthey setup. 310 on the A3 around FFM.
Congrats 🥳🥳
Thank You!
What a sound. 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
It really is something special this car!
Beautiful, imagine if you cleaned the screen first? ;-)
Yeah, that would be awesome, so I made the apologies at the begging of the clip to address the elephant in the room straightaway 😂✌️
Love it!!! 🇩🇪🖤❤️💛
Me too! ;)
1:10 car sounds so good that youtube title says (music)
That’s a pretty accurate description for me😎
have you tried adjusting the rear wing to the least downforce setting?
As I mentioned in the clip: I had not fiddled with the wing setting since the car left the showroom. Anyway the car just suddenly stopped accelerating, while it could go faster. Just like it is with an electronic speed limiter, so the rear wing settings has little to do with this case IMO😊
Of course rear wing aero settings will impact top speed. You bet the advertised top speed by Porsche is with low downforce setup of the car. Try again.
@@pierrena3420he hit the computer controlled limiter, not the drag induced limit, changing the wings angle of attack won’t do anything. He needs to have the ecu reflashed.
Tbh u dont even need more than around 300 for this car. Fun lies elsewhere. 300 kph so easily reachable too.
Must be such a good fucking drive the gt4rs...
Totally agree! Nevertheless it would be nice to be able to go as fast as the catalog data suggests😅
@@PetrolBeasti agree. But what crazy times we're living in! A cayman that goes at almost 320 kmph?! Crazy absolutely. 10-15 years ago? Maybe not. When I think cayman i think about the gt4 specs so like 260~ kmph cap on those race cars😅😅 but the production car's cap is much higher on straights! And the sound is actually better than a 911 or is it just me?
I presume most sports/supercars are faster than their cup counterparts due to lower downforce;) @@Kpaxlol
My dream is to own one of these dream machines
I wish your dream come true😊✌️
My Porsche dealership just got one in 235K USD... I need 3 pedals, so I'm leaning towards a GT4, or maybe a GT3, or GTS.
@@du3lcitiz3n Not sure where you are located but allocations for GT4s are done for NA. You cannot spec a new GT4 unless someone give up on an existing allocation and the car itself has not been built.
@@malfunctionedbrain6854 I know, so getting a nicely specced gently used one at a premium will be my only option. And I'm not even mad about it. Since I won't have to wait.
Like you said, could be software limited and drag limited.
War da am Anfang nicht Tempo 120? 😂 Ich komme aus der Gegend! Aber sehr nettes Video und dein Porsche ist ein Traumauto
No it’s not! Look at the trip computer. The speed sign assist says no limit😎
Weird. Ive seen it on autotopnl but didnt know why porsche limited the real top speed
I seriously have no clue especially since I couldn’t find any top speed run that reached 315 kph🤷♂️
I dont think it is drag limited, it is something to do with areodynamics and/or power. Porsche lies about speed in this model. Anyway finally they do a realistic speedometer not like in the 911s with a +20kmh or more than gps.
For me it is definitely not aero since the car was pulling fine until the 304, but then it stopped accelerating at all. Weird but true😄
Sorry! U need to take the speed in both directions.
20 km/h wind or a percent of gradient can have this influence.
At the end I woul drive the A38. There is really not that much traffic!
What is the GPS speed?
Please keep that in mind🙂
why 8200 rpm? it looks speed limited.
That’s the question that no one can answer in depth🙂
Maybe the downforce needs to be adjusted with your wing ?
The downforce has been set to the factory (low drag) street setting😉
@@PetrolBeast😅 ok 👌🏾 just wanted to help if i could lol. 🙌🏾💪🏾🤞🏾
Love
My ears are bleeding 😮❤😮
This is the risk of dealing with GT4 RS ;D
You paid for it. Divide the price of the car by 315 kmh = price per 1 kmh. Multiply the price per kmh x10 (there are 10 kmh missing), that is the amount Porsche owes you, I think +/- 5000 bucks
If I were to do that I would definately use You to make the right calculations :)
You should simply take it to Porsche dealer and ask them to fix it. They indicate a top speed, and it should do it. If it does not do it it is a malfunction.
Sounds like a plan to me😃
I have seen better top speed from the standard GT4 at 311kph maybe the extra wing size affects its top speed
As for now I stand by the electronic limiter theory. This makes a lot of sense expecially that during accelerating it suddenly stopped pulling
@@PetrolBeast it wouldn’t surprise me. Maybe mention what you felt in your video for next time we would be interested to know.
2:57 pls read the stvo for german highway. He could not see you on the curve. And you drive to fast for this situation of many cars on the highway. And flashing is a crime
Flashing lights is a warning sign for a person forcing priority in the left lane without speed limits. If you have any experience at high speed driving you should have known many people do not check their mirrors at autobahn🙂
@@PetrolBeast but flashing light is coercion if you do it more than one time that you do. And you have pixelated your number plate, which has certain reasons
No it is not. Please go and have some experience and legal knowledge in the real world🙂
@@PetrolBeast i have enough experience it is true. Pls learn read the stvo.
If such a car is driven-in too cautiously, it may run noticebly slower afterwards. Give a new Porsche full blast after 1.000 Km
Will take that advice into account with next Porsche ;D This GT4 RS has been run-in acoording to Porsche insctuctions manual ;)
7:12 why would u do that to the engine? xD
Because I can😂
@@PetrolBeast 😕😔
Why even buy a gt3rs at this point? This car is better in almost every way besides looks in my opinion. But even then its not a ugly car by any means.
I guess GT3 RS is offered to a completly different group of customers, this is why there is space for both the R8 and the former ;)
you flashed your highbeams so much you blinded atleast half of the country
Autotopnl with their 304-298 so yours pass the exam with its 306-300 gps 😂😂
Still way under 315 kmh that the vrochure says
And that is why Ferraris are more expensive.
Its called Physics.
Hello! I am pretty sure that if the rpm restriction is a concern then in this case it will be limited on every gear, not only 7th😉
Unbolt rear wing and gain 10km/h no doubt!
And watch the rear end take off haha😂😂
@@PetrolBeast absolute nonesense! 🤦♂️
Weird. I drove 308 in the normal GT4
There must be a reason for this. I am probably yet to discover what, but I could definately feel that this car could go more but suddenly stopped accelerating...
Well as with the normal 911 GT cars, they ended up top out or having higher limits than their RS counterparts.
@@PetrolBeast I drive Sports Cars since over 25 years, including a lot of race tracks and a lot of german Autobahn. Various cars capable of near or over 300km/h. You don't have to act like you are the very experienced person here (in order to justify your dangerous driving) and everybody who is criticising you has no experience.
It doesn't matter if there is usually even more traffic. It was a lot of traffic for driving like you did. You were passing a camper van (doing max. 100km/h) at over 250km/h in the very lane next to you. That's a speed difference of over 150km/h. If that person would have suddenly changed lanes, you could have done absolutely NOTHING to avoid a fatal accident in a busy traffic Autobahn.
Using your high beam signal is not forbidden, but in combination with driving too close (which you did) can be seen as "Nötigung".
You also very deliberately overtook a car on the right side.
You don't have to justify yourself. Maybe just take a good look at your own behaviour (several people have mentioned it to you here, including me).
Remove wing and you'll hit it
And probably take off during the process 😂😂❤️
