    Thank you so much.
For many months, I struggled with anti-aliasing on Lychee, as you mentioned. No matter what I chose, it didn't have a significant impact. After using anti-aliasing in Chitubox, I immediately see a huge advantage.

Very glad I came by this video. I was having a lot of issues with antialiasing on my ELEGOO Mars 4 DLP. Ran all kinds of settings on Lychee, then saw this vid. Switched over to Voxeldance Tango that came with my printer, problem instantly resolved. I can still see some layer lines (e.g., top of a contouring surface such as a cape) however other parts of the model are smooth enough that I cannot visually identify any layer lines/voxel lines even under light. Thank you very much for this video!

I've been running these tests on Lychee with my Saturn 2/Elegoo 8k Space Grey resin today. From their docs a printer with 50um resolution should use 2px radius and one with 35um resolution should use 3px radius. Saturn 2's resolution is 28.5um. I ran three tests at 30um layer height all with Smooth Surfaces, radius 2px and HD AA but with grey offset at 0%, 50% and 100% - 0% is noticably smoother. 100% looks to be basically AA off which would make sense. Still a lot more tests to run but thank you so much for making the test piece and making it available for free.

at least in my experience with 2k photon mono, firmware update could make or break AA function(somehow regardless of slicer. this is when chitu was only unofficially supporting the 2k mono's format, so went back and forth between anycubic and chitu slicers), so it became my policy for firmware to 'stop it when it works'

Hi Dennys. How's it going? Man the Chitubox panel changed a little and I'm confuse now.
    Now the options are:
Gray Image: 255 (you can change from 0 to 255)
Anti-Aliasing: Here you can turn on or off and if you turn on, you input 2 values here these are: 127 - 255
    Image Blur: 2
There's also an option that I saw in your video and I just copied it.
    This is:
Layer Print Time Compensation: 2,41 s
I wanna set like in your vídeo:
    Anti-Aliasing: 2
    Grey: 0
    Image Blur: 2
What can I change in my settings to be like your?

When I testet Lychee pro a couple of months ago, I run into the same issue. So I compared the pixels in the png for each layer with Chitubox, Materialise Magics and Envisiontec RP:
    1. Chitubox can compete very well with the professionals when it comes to AA
    2. Lychee does NOT provide any AA in Z-direction. I wrote them a mail about that issue, but it seems they just didn't understand. So I canceled my pro subscription and continued using Chitu pro with my MSLA-printers.

Hi, thanks for your in-depth technical approach to the videos/reviews. Recently I watched the Sonic Mini 8KS video and you mentioned that the older 8K has an AA bug. Do you think it might be a slicer bug? After all, the printer just prints what's in the file, that is flat, black and white images. I'm trying to understand the bug, because it doesn't make sense that on one axis AA works well, and the other one fails. Printers don't have AA feature, it's just a matter of slicing.

    • @wangdennys
      @wangdennys  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nope
Also tested it on other slicer
Result is the same, aa on x axis not working.

Lychee crew is apparently incompetent at slicer technology - the only thing they did ok is made a reasonable manual support interface with reasonable functionality that's kind of simple. The one quite good feature they have that usually works without embarrassment is 'island detection', unless of course it crashes when one is trying to work on any model more complex than a mini or two.
Everything 'technical' about _actual_ slicing for resin printers seems to be poorly executed with lack of attention to detail, leading one with skill in the art to assume they are programmers who filched some open-source slicing modules and stuffed it into their 'slicer-noir' skin.
And yes, non-substandard printers _do_ have real hardware AA, tools like that the Lychee crew don't seem to know much about so they try, obviously unsuccessfully, to implement someone else's software image processing algorithm that they don't understand to the slices to smooth each 2D image and 'fake' AA, yet still haven't got it to work no matter how much money they made/make off of 'Pro'.

    • @wangdennys
      @wangdennys  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Too bad because on their later release info they said the AA works better now.

@@retromodernart4426 for many beginners the appeal of lychee is the simple and intuitive interface. However I would rather jump in the deep end and struggle with a more complex, capable program. So that I can reap the rewards later on.

I like to use lychee fo supporting, the problem is: If I export my model from lychee as an stl and import it into chitubox, chitubox applies anti-aliasing to my raft and supports, which has been causing my finer supports to fail. Does this mean I have to start using chitubox instead of lychee? Because I imagine increasing exposure to compensate wouldn't be ideal. I can send you this file sliced with 3D anti aliasing. I think it will wastly outperform Voxel tango))
I just finish first testing on my custom slicer wich can perform AA not only in XY axis but in Z axis as well! So I want anyone expirienced to try and confirm if it works the same!
So please wright me your printer parameters if you interested.

      Custom slicer?
I'd be interested to try it especially the z axis antialiasing
Cause you can see the z in my prints all have stepping lines and the AA cannot do anything on z

@@allnicksweretaken It is only at testing stage and base on blender 2.5
So it can actually slice for MSLA. Only issue is that it much slower than usual slices but it can doo much more than them.
I hope at certain point I will succeed with auo orientation and auto supports on organic reverse branching tree.
Didnt posted it anywhere yet But if Blender community will cach up with geometry nodes it can improve that process several times and it might be possible to integrate UWTools on it.

@@whittaker007 I wasn't suggesting Chitubox, I never use Chitubox either.
Voxeldance Tango slicer (I know, it costs money, too) is superior technically in my opinion, but it has a 'less intuitive' user interface (but I actually prefer it, it's pretty nice to use once familiar) and more seemingly-complex to use support generation, but it actually works surprisingly well, when one configures auto-support properly, very few supports need to be manually added and the models come out excellent.
