Maurice Petty: Interviews from The Legendary Mastermind Behind Petty Racing

- Our Dad, Maurice Petty, was a major reason for the success of Petty Racing. However, there isn’t much footage out there of him speaking or giving interviews. This is mostly because he was always working behind the scenes and didn’t care much for the limelight so we decided to create a compilation of a few of his interviews over the years!!

This brings back so many good memories of your dad for me. I sure miss him. He was a great teacher of mine. And the best boss man I ever had. He was highly thought of in the garage area. Yes he taught me a lot about engines and carburetors, but also so very important lessons about life. He was like a big brother to me. May he rest in peace.
wow thank you Petties for sharing... your views should be millions but newera of comic con lovers
It was always an extra treat to see Maurice Petty getting interviewed during a race. Growing up in the late 70’s and the 80’s and even today getting to see the early stuff. He was and still is the man in my book!
This is a great tribute to a great man who does not get his due. It's a treat to see that all of this footage has survived. Thank you Mr. Tim, Mr. Mark, and Mr. Ritchie for putting this together for us!
He was a great man!!!!!😊😊😊
A little different from your normal video, but it was great! Seems like Maurice was a man of few words but a man of great action!
Amazing how Maurice kept that operation going with 7 or 8 full time employees. Now days the big racing teams have hundreds of employees. Maurice and those other guys could do it all. Geniuses is the best word to describe " The Back In The Day Boys"
The story of the Petty family is iconic Americana. If you mention car racing in America, you can’t help but think of the Petty’s. Your dad, along with Richard and Lee forged a legacy that will always stand the test of time. Thank you for sharing the good stuff.
Thanks for all the support, we really appreciate it!

A true legend.
Loved hearing your dad talk especially when he went into the hall of fame
Another great video of family history and a deserving man. There must have been some dark days around the family in 83 (i think) over the Charlotte deal. The truth of it all is only known by a few 7:09
The one and only. There never be another Chief
I love this! Absolutely incredible ❤️
Jackie trying to ask Maurice about the car😅 He was like whattttt?
HE WAS AN INCREDIBLE FIGURE IN RACING , HIS SONS TODAY ARE STILL IN THE ENGINE BUSINESS !! MR. MAURICE PETTY KNEW HOW TO DIAL IN AN ENGINE AND HAVE IT RUN TO THE CHECKERED FLAG !!! MAY GOD REST HIS SOUL , GOD BLESS THE WHOLE PETTY CLAN !!!
Very enjoyable.
Chief.
He’s was a cool cookie boy!!
OUR NEW FAVORITE VIDEO!!!❤❤❤
Back then the race car was like a crew member. The way they subtly refer to "it" is like what we did back in the day when the family car was literally treated like a family member. Today's race cars are like today's drivers; none compare to the glory days of good ole boys driving good ole race cars. Thank you, Maurice, for tuning Richard's Mopar engines. My all time favorite was the 74 Charger.
My man chief
GOOD STUFF !!!
What race was that he was crew chief for Kyle? I would like to look for it and watch.
I gave up watching much when NASCAR put restrictor plates on hemis I was only 11 years old and could see how unfair
"it wasnt charlotte" 😂😂😂
58. That his brother....not brother n law
The CHIEF! All class!
According to this Video Inman was a nobody...
The mastermind has 8 Winston Cups
I know Dale Inman, has 8 Winston Cup Series Championships, 7 with Petty Enterprises, Richard driving, and one with Billy Hagan's team in 1984 with Terry Labonte driving the 44 car. Maurice was the engine builder for all 7 of Richard's cup championships, last one was 1979. Does Maurice have an eighth one, with another team and driver? I'm honestly not positive, I know he built motors for a few others here and there, but if I'm correct, I think Dale Inman, is the only man to actually be credited with 8 NASCAR Cup Series Championships. Timmy, Mark, Richie, is that correct? Thank you!
CHEATERS.
