It is so astonishing that with so meager budget Satyajit Ray was able to get make such great films.I would appreciate Mrs.Tagore's talent as an actress specially in all her Bengali film.

If any person dies. Then just writing ““RIP” is very disrespectful. I am living in USA for over 40 years. I have never seen this. Please write at least “Rest in Peace”. Writing less words will not make you a “Hip” person. Respectfully writing couple of line are decent and respect ful.

We are fortunate to listen to the discussion of the two respected personalities like Soumitra Chattopaadhyaay and Sharmila Tagore in homely atmosphere.

@@soumojitguhamajumder3143 doesn't mean he needs to have a French accent when talking in Bengali. Every language needs it's essence sir. I am not demeaning his capabilities or stature in anyway but when you are speaking a language it should be proper especially when you are hosting an event..
@@manamitalukder .. He has very good command over vocabulary,and accent is secondary to me as long as I can understand. Secondly , he's spent a long time in France , I'm sure you could cut him some slack.

Started in English then went on the 'Banglish' of Sharmila Tagore that was disappointing! Sharmila having affinity with Rabindranath speaks good Bangla but very often opt for that mixed language. Why? Is there any complex?
Soumitra Chatterjee is not well comfortable in English and rationally he didn't try to do that in this meet. Sharmila therefore at least for etiquette sake should have chosen unmixed Bangla.

I think she's a good enough actress, her voice is odd and that's pretty much used extensively by Mr. Ray as an asset. And I didn't understand what you artificiality you found.

Roy Smith ...Look, opinions on film actors and their talents, or lack thereof, will vary widely. I feel the least bit obliged to debate at length our clearly divergent views on Sharmila Tagore. All I’ll say is I don’t particularly like her at all. She isn’t an outright mediocrity as an actress. But her voice, mannerisms, what she brings to her roles etc...don’t impress me much and often grate on my nerves. In public appearances and interviews, Sharmila always strikes me as rather too stiff, self-conscious and affected in the manner she talks and behaves. In that, though, she is far from alone in the Indian film industry at large. But my comment about Sharmila obviously pinched a nerve in you somewhere. Get over it!
Lastly, your parting comment smacks of imbecility. And a presumptuousness that is mildly amusing. I made clear that I don’t trade thoughts or post in comments sections in Bangla using English text. How does that remotely suggest I don’t know how to ‘write in Bangla’? If anything, it just shows that I have better education, standards and tastes than the likes of you plebs who aspire to nothing higher than juvenile antics and cheap shots. With all due respect, and reverence to his eminence, I am assertive that, when I say this, I speak for many people- there is certainly something off about his Bengali pronunciation. The level of sophistication that he brings into his conversation is extraordinary, but his Bengali idiolect could certainly be better off without the "english" accentuations.
