You are right they didn't and this is one of those beautiful, quiet scenes in this season. I also like how it ended when he caught the cricket ball and how he celebrated with Lord Grantham and Mathew. It was like a "welcome to the family" moment.
@@tombstonerforever9374 there are occasions but seldom alone there's another one but it eludes me at the moment. I'll keep an eye out as I continue to watch the series.

The baby is so beautiful and Dan Stevens is God...LOL... That is what I got from this scene. They are all so beautiful and yet Mr. Stevens manages to outshine each and every one of them.
In cricket parlance, Lord Grantham and Carson are Cricket Tragics. Meaning mad lovers of the game. For Branson to catch that ball and help win the game was the best thing he could have done to be accepted by Grantham and Carson. He is now a valued member of the family. Being good at cricket is worth more than money or gold.

Cora and Tom never really had many moments so this one really made me feel warm as he went to her to ask if he could stay.

It was highlighted in the episode that Tom doesn't know how to play cricket, So that weird catch makes sense
