This is a great design! I just got one of these and didn't know about the air bags. Now I am trying to figure out how to attach my curtains. This design provides so much functionality in the smaller van. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the comments. Yeah, those airbags make for a design challenge for sure. I’ve seen where people delete them but I wouldn’t undertake that or assume that risk 😬
@@forayconcept3389 Just don't use music in the videos at all. Background music is a bad idea, it only makes video worse. Music works if you make b-roll material and put the music on top of that and no talk at that time. When you start speaking, stop the music. Simple test: Ask yourself is this the song you would like to hear yourself continuously for 24 minutes repeating itself 20 times? If you think that would be torture, don't offer it to other viewers. Just rendering again this video without music you would propably get 5 times more people watching the video from start to finnish. I had to watch this with no sound after couple of minutes.
Who did the window Install into the Flarespace, as this is not an option direct from Dlarespace? Was that a tough project? And do you guys offer this service?
We did the install of both the flares and the windows. Is it tough? Definitely requires the right tools, space and ability to paint. We’d be happy to assist you, just sent us an email through our Remote Adventure Design website.
Hi. I am soon to convert a transit L2 length (as it’s termed in the UK). I believe in the USA you refer to then as 130”. I saw this vid and contacted flarespace to get the same flares, but they say they only do the flares for the 148” wheelbase. Hoping you may be able to assist with which model of the flares you have here?
You have a talented design and woodcraft. I like your making camper. Can you post your making process looks like other people. Thank you very much your posting!
It's true, the weight of the interior is biased toward the driver side but we feel the weight of the awning on the upper passenger side does offer a counterbalance to that. Also, the weight capacity of the van vs. the actual weight of what we put into it is still in our favor. When possible we try to balance out the weight but this build didn't allow us to unfortunately. Thanks for the comment and definitely something to be mindful of!
Yes, the headliner was dropped and Havelock wool was put in throughout the ceiling. The original floor was taken out and a plywood floor was put back in.
In this case, most if not all the original panels were retained but I keep any around to use for other builds/parts to give it that OEM look. For instance, repurposed the rear vent for the AC system to trim out the heat duct that comes out under the passenger seat. Other than that, you can try to sell online but it might take awhile to find the right buyer.
Scheel Mann Vario F w/ armrests, map pockets, heated seat elements and adapter kit for the Transit. It's a great seat! If you are in the Oregon area I can get them for you, otherwise go through Scheell-Mann and they will set you up with a retailer.
Los very interesting...really hard too hear the speaker, bump up the guys vice, and kick down the background music please. Did you remove the headliner t add more insulation/If nt, hw much insulation comes factory?
Thanks for the comments. Audio is whack, thinking it's time to pull the video and rework it.... The headliner was removed to add wool insulation and lighting but then put back in place. There is no insulation in the stock system.
I have used airbag simulators to replace the side air bags. They plug into airbag plugs and the system sees them as valid airbag. Remainder of system fully operational. My opinion is that side airbag deployment will destroy all the cabinets and be dangerous to occupants. Love the build man. You gave me some great ideas. Thanks
I understand that you left room for airbag to deploy so it might be just fine airbags make me nervous. You obvious gave some thought to what you were doings so just ignore my comment. I have a van just like this one and I will be replacing my airbags with the simulator plug.
I hear you and considered the modification but as this is for a customer, I didn't want to take on the liability of the modified airbag system NOT deploying in the case of an accident. So, made the adjustment in the design to allow for the curtain airbags to deploy. Thanks for the comments!
It was a combination of C channel mounted to the factory mounting location, customized 4" straps to move the Fiamma Sprinter brackets out to the edge of the van and a modified 3x3 1/4" angle aluminum to support the awning out at the front tip. Was quite the trial and error to finally get it all sorted out but the end product was worth it and dialed in.
Awesome! I'm still looking for an option to mount a Fiamma onto my 148 medium roof, too. Got Here through the transitusaforum. Btw: yes the music was not required, but I had no issues to understand all you said. Don't worry too much about everybodies' complaints. It's FREE content!! BR from Germany
Very clean work and attention to detail. You have mad skills. What flooring is that? Really like that grey industrial look, I have seen it before but can’t think where.
Thank you! Much appreciated. The flooring is an all synthetic LVT from Home Depot. We can get you the exact spec w/ a little research, just send us an email.
Awesome job!! Love most everything you did on this build. I have the same van and size and you don't see the 130"s very often. Nice job. Curious about the flarespace replacing the two back windows. Love that idea... was that done in house or did you need a professional window shop to remove the factory windows? Does the flarespace go in relatively easy once the window is out? Would love some insight on that. Thanks for your vid. Inspiring stuff.
Thanks for the comments! The flares are a bit tricky as you have to cut out the existing windows if passenger van or metal for the cargo van. Then the flares need to be painted as they come in a primer gray color from Flarespace. Installation is best with 2 people and isn't too difficult, just need the right tools and space to do it. Our shop in Eugene, OR is set up for it so let us know if you need assistance! Thanks again for the comments and for watching!!
This is definitely one of the best Ford Transit interior camper designs I have seen. Very functional and efficient. Now I want one. 😊. P.S. The music did not bother me. I was too focused on your tour and details to care about the music.
You made my day! Thanks for the feedback and so glad you liked it. This van is still one of my favorites. If ever in Eugene, give us a call and make a visit!
Have taken quite the hit for the music but thanks for the feedback. Definitely listened to the critique and turned it down for all subsequent videos. At some point I'll take this one down and re-edit. Cheers!
Well done! Btw, I kind of liked the music, even though it was a little too loud. I think it added some style to the video. Don't get me wrong feedback from viewers is always great, but it would be nice sometimes if commenters would look at what's already been written before crafting a comment. That's just my two cents. Best of luck to you building more vans going forward. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! It's hard to be pro at everything and I can definitely say I'm not a pro video/sound guy but giving it a shot, hoping it gets better on the next video. Thanks again!!
In the uk we have chemical waste separation from grey waste . If you think diluting your toilet waste with your dishwashing water is ok , man , no way 😮
Some Conversion builders recommend not buying a crew or passenger vans due to the side curtain airbags; others do. What is your opinion on this matter? Please feel free to expound upon....
Pros and cons to both. Having the factory interior solves many challenges in putting a build together but they also take up some valuable volume and the issue of side curtain airbags prevents any upper cabinet from being included. Having done both, it just depends on the client and what they are needing from the build.
Usually d newbies think its cool to have background music. Less than 2.5k subscribers, u got to learn when to have music or not. So learn quick, learn from bigger channels for their vlogging style if u want to grow your channel😅
I know, it's been a theme but I've heard the comments and have been better at lowering the volume of background music on subsequent videos. Thanks for watching and commenting though!
It was hard to hear you. Maybe the music drowned your voice or maybe you need to speak up, put some volume behind your voice? Your build, however, is fabulous.
Why does EVERYONE put their toilet right where the sliding doors are?? To me it makes no sense. If you have your door(s) open, as you would on a beautiful day, you have to close them unless you want to do your business in front of the rest of the world.
Nice van, please ditch the music in the future, makes a great video just worse. I would have removed it and uploaded the video again to get 4 times more views.
As I'm the guy who built the van out, shot the video and edited the video (including the music) my apologies. As others have commented, it was off and I'll try to be better for future content.
Whats more important, the features of your build or the senseless music that you are playing? Honestly lost interest in your video because I could not hear you over the annoying music.
What size did you go with the KO2’s? Currently in the process of replacing the stock tires for all terrain, looking at falken or KO2 but really worried about the fit. It’s a 250 transit 2018
They were a 32" BFG KO2. Don't recall the exact tire spec as there are a number of different ways to get to a 32" and availability became a determining factor. Trimming is required to get this size of tire on and I am a fan of the KO2 tires. Haven't run the Falkens. Hope this helps!!
That music is brutal. Nice van!!!
Yeah, the music is bad and you aren’t alone in your comments there :(
I agree...had to stop watching it...way to loud and reverberates in a weird way.

had to watch on mute. the background music was too much
Thanks for watching and sorry for the music issue.
😂
Huh?…….sorry it was a competition between you and the music for dominance. Music won.
Can't win them all. Definitely an issue on this video but I'll have it better on the next one.
Beautiful build. Curious how you attached that blind to the window above the sink?
very nice! I really like those seats. FYI the music is super loud hard to hear you speak. Thanks for the video.
Sorry about that and thank you for the feedback.
The music is unnecessary
I just had to bump this to 700 thumbs. Love the van.
Wow I love this . It’s a dream
Thanks so much! Let us know if we can help.
Good looking van! Nice build out!
Well thank you!! Got one coming up for a family of 4 so maybe one of these days we will get one in your driveway!!
The music ruins good videos. Who told you tubers that music when you talk adds to the presentation? So many do it and never well
Thanks for the feedback, hope to have it better dialed in on the next video.

How did you connect the webasto to the diesel tank? Is it a connector on the tank?

Nice work and thoughtful design. At 3:14 you can see a small black device (wire wire) mounted next to the awning. WeBoost antenna?
Correct, it's a WeBoost antenna w/ a magnetic base.

Don't have the exact number but right around 5'9"
Awesome, terrific design!
