- A quick video tutorial on how to drape a 9-yard saree with madisar, Iyer style.
While we understand that there are several variations of draping a madisar, we believe this version of Iyer style is more traditional and common. We learnt this technique with inputs from several of our brides' relatives on the field during bridal events.

The front side has to come in V shape.actual procedure the pallu will be come in another side of the saree(reverse side). What u made is little mistake. Sry for saying this...
True... could have given a better video with less knots
That's because it's a saree with buttas on the body, so they don't reverse it for the last round to shoulder. That's why I never buy all over body buttas and designs in Madisar. If plain, we get the perfect drape and straight right side lines in front talappu
When a mistake was accepted initially...we all believe that is the tradition...someone have to question it for the reverse pallu...

Isn't it too tight?? How is one supposed to walk or sit in such a drape? Only good for a photo shoot.

Madisar drape is not to make a fashion statement. It is a divine drape where women wear it during religious functions; where they have to move around and work. Your way of drape is meant only for models.. Actually , when draped in the right way , madikar is the most comfortable dress . At atleast in 2 places in this video , the drape has deviated from the traditional drape.
Then you pls share the video with correct draping so that we will learn. Otherwise do comment others simply.

@@ashwinmiyer6159it's very different to our traditional Odia drape, which is Ghorapindha drape as the latter doesn't have pleats at all. We Odias believe that only gods are supposed to wear pleated drapes, unlike us humans, so only Jagannath trio and goddesses wear pleated drapes.
It's not correct. Thalappu should be maathu thalappu. Also kaccham kondu vanthathu wrong. Please do it properly. In this method, kaal thadukkum
This is not a traditional drape. And it doesn't look like a traditional madisar. Please do not experiment your own ways in traditional looks. Please respect tradition as it is. There are so many other things that you can experiment with. The worst part is the final tucking.
Humans make mistake they are born to make mistakes not everyone is fully perfect but many new beautiful things are made by mistakes ... It's OK to forgive ❤❤ may be what if she herself didn't know it was a wrong method 😅

You need to buy a 9 yard length saree. Draping this in normal saree would be difficult.

This draping method is not correct.. a V shape will be formed in the front leg after a drape of the saree if done correctly.
You are very particular to pin and fleet only. At the bottom if you wear with v shape u cannot walk freely it must be free.

Being a woman myself, I wonder how will the ladies in this drape use the restroom? Would they have to remove the entire saree 😐
Obviously there is a discreet and dignified method for restroom usage. Iyer grand mothers and elderly women wore this all their lives after marriage.
I wear it too , for long hours, and it's very. Comfortable.

This is not the way madisar is tied. If you don't know, don't upload in TH-cam. People who follow you way of wearing, will spoil the look of it.
It is a comfortable dress equalent to chudidar (if you wear it properly).
