I reacted to it but it was sadly blocked, and whilst really tidy and impressive (Ed is amazing let's be clear on that), buuut still nothing crazy with regard to the actual looping! Great stops and and Ed's energy is awesome, however he keeps things very simple in regard to his loop work.

Damien Rice is who you’re thinking of. When Ed was much younger his Dad took him to see Damian Rice & that’s where Ed saw the loop pedal. He said Damian Rice is one of his idols. He refers to him in a few of his songs as well. You should hear “You Need Me I Don’t Need You” in the Live Room. You won’t be sorry

I love the way this turns the usual “how long do we have to wait for the actual song” thing on its head. Instead he holds it back, then goes ham on the loop (possibly until he breaks the loop, but not here) before tying it all back together with a chorus.

    • @davidshanhun

I think if you're looking to find Ed's best looping songs, this definitely isn't one of them. This song is just very simple and straightforward. If you look up the other videos from this exact same recording session, they ALL are faster, with heavy loop pedal usage.
